Traveler
It is my understanding that there will arise a great division in the Last-days that will separate mankind into to camps. The scriptures tell us that the great division will be between the righteous and the wicked. According to ancient understanding the term righteous means those that make and keep covenants with G-d and accordingly the term wicked means those that refuse and break G-d’s covenants. A most significant covenant of these Last-days is called “The New and Everlasting Covenant”. LDS theology includes the covenant of marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman as an important element of this covenant. I generally understand that the LGBTQ+ movement to be contrary or in opposition to the covenants of G-d. For most of my life I thought that the great division of the last days would involve bad hateful people as opposed to kind and loving people. I experienced great difficulty in the logic of how bad hateful people could become so powerful and popular. I am experiencing a paradigm shift where I am coming to think it is possible that the great division of the righteous from the wicked will be more along the lines of @mikbone‘s thread “Is anyone else confused?!” It seems to me that both the trend and logic of the day is dividing humanity between LGBTQ+ participation and those that wish to remain loyal and exclusive to what is being noted as “Traditional Families”. Grunt
I'm amazed by the number of otherwise faithful who openly say the Church is just wrong on this detail. Still_Small_Voice, scottyg, SilentOne and 3 others 5
Still_Small_Voice
2 preach the Word; be instant in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they shall heap to themselves teachers in accordance with their own lusts. 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned toward fables. -- II Timothy chapter 4 ============ I think the above has happened many times in the world since the Apostle Paul wrote it. These scriptures are also applicable now in my opinion. Traveler and Vort

I believe this may also be a reference to those that attempt to stand with one foot with their covenants and the other foot in their worldly desires. It seems to me that there have been a number of popular individuals that struggle with LGBTQ+ inclinations that want to maintain their LDS membership. Then over time end up becoming fully committed to one or the other (but seemingly usually the other). The Traveler

In many ways, it is merely an extension of immorality. The divide has just been going on so long that the Adversary is now able to take hold of both sides of the argument. How many of us condemn LGBTQ conversations, but then will turn a blind eye to those living in sin (as we put the term among my generation at least), or those who are committing infidelity, or those who divorce for no real good reason? All the LGBTQ+ has done is to move the target even further to the far side of where it should be to the point that we don't even blink when faced with other sins. TV seems RIFE with immorality these days. It is as if it is just accepted. No matter where you go, modern entertainment and media is talked about among members. Most of this stuff is filled with immoral material! I think the numbers of the Church compared to the world are small. The number of active members compared to the world are even smaller. The number who do not participate in watching modern entertainment that is filled with immorality I feel are even smaller. I don't know where the dividing line is, but I know from the Book of Mormon those who were saved were not saved necessarily because they were righteous, but because they were less wicked than the others. In the US, it may be that there is no real dividing line, merely those that are less wicked than the rest of the population. That could go for many other nations as well these days. I agree with your concept of evolution of sin. I would suggest that at the root of those turning from the law of Chasity is a propensity for pornography and masturbation. As these two temptations are embraced there will be no defense for those involved to stand against LGBTQ+ and remain loyal to the law of chastity.
