A long-time politician who has not contributed in any meaningful way to the political discourse in over 30 years.

Sanders is the Ron Paul of the DNC. He may be marginalized among the Party’s power brokers, but he resonates with a sizable portion of the base and is a direct influence of the younger generation of leaders — including AOC.

I disagree with him on 90% of the issues, but that’s a very fair assessment.

Bernie has no idea how the real world works. Imagine being 80+ years old and learning nothing in those years.

Interesting comparison.  One is all about individual liberty. The other is all about the nanny state.  Right and left in a nutshell.

Both somewhat acknowledged and respected (as such) on their sides.  Both largely ignored by their peers.  Both respected by a small, but loyal following in their demesne.  Neither seemed to have made a large impact politically or culturally.

I really like Ron Paul.  But the fact is that Ron (and Bernie) never made any significant, lasting effect on the populus or the political system.  But Ron Paul was possibly the most incorruptible person to ever walk the halls of government.

Sanders stayed away from a large part of the government corruption.  But you simply can't keep rooting for socialism/communism without being corrupt at some level.

Sanders is a glowing example of how a lifetime politician can become a multi-millionaire far beyond their salaries.  I think he knows a great deal about how the “real” world works – which has more to do with corruption than public service.
