NeuroTypical Posted Tuesday at 05:00 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:00 PM (edited) June is here, and there are changes from last June. The festiveness from the acronym-friendly folks is still festive, my various feeds are full of rainbowey well wishes, and a fresh round of exhortations on what to do with "homophobes and bigots". I've only seen one person urging me to unalive myself if I have a problem with trans women in women's sports, so that's nice. A difference - corporate America is not going hog-wild on pushing the messaging so much. I haven't looked, but I doubt I'll find a single company that does business with the US who is changing their logo to a pride-ified logo for pride month. Here was 2022, I need to update this thing for 2025: Anyway, if any rainbow folks look to me for a sign of celebrating pride month, I'm sure they'll be happy to discover this: Happy pride to Scott Bessent. Secretary of Treasury, French Hugenot ancestry, fundraised for Al Gore, donated to Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. The first openly homosexual treasury secretary, and currently the highest ranking LGBTQ political official in America to date. He and his husband once owned the historic John Ravanel House, aka "Charleston's Pink Palace". He's also a main mastermind behind all the tariffs and the Trump admin's dismantling of the globalist world order, issuing in a return to the good old days of national trade protectionism and opening new fronts in the war to contain China economically. Dude puts the M in MAGA, cuz he's all man. And stuff. (Sorry, I don't really know how to do a good pride virtue signal. Am I doing it right?) Feel free to share with all yer alphabet buddies out there. Edited Tuesday at 05:11 PM by NeuroTypical Quote

Don't know when either of them are apart when the internal diversity posts get sent around at work for us to have a read and all the TV channels start plugging their special programming to celebrate. Here was 2022, I need to update this thing for 2025: A number of sports teams and entertainment-related companies are still making the switch, but it is indeed far less than before. Likewise, those stores that are carrying pride-themed merchandise have been stocking smaller quantities than before. That being said, I'm starting to see individual companies recognize that June is *also* Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, with the crew behind the video game Rainbow Six Siege even making a major posting about it on social media as part of an honest, legit campaign - As you can imagine, the fact that people are pushing to acknowledge this has led to scattered reports of pride month supporters being outraged in the mistaken belief that this is somehow crowding out discussion of pride month, with one report alleging that the moderators for a Reddit forum dedicated to a *different* game banned someone for mentioning it. I don't think that pride month will completely go away, but I would imagine that in a few years it will be functionally irrelevant beyond a few performative references and merchandise releases. We just finished month of May. Two of my kids have three chronic conditions between them and all apparently were meant to be recognizing during May. We have twelve months, folks. We got to share them. Edit: I am going to celebrate candy this month, no matter what it crowds out. Edited Wednesday at 12:02 AM by Backroads NeuroTypical and Carborendum 2 Quote
LDSGator Posted Wednesday at 12:54 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 12:54 AM We just left Disney and they cut back heavily on pride merch. Oh sure, it’s still there. But much more mellow and not in the front of the stores. NeuroTypical 1 Quote

LDSGator Posted Wednesday at 04:20 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:20 AM Apparently a lot of companies are chilling or toning it down this year. It’ll be interesting to see how the right reacts to this. This is what they’ve wanted since 2014- but I’m sure it won’t be good enough. Quote
