  1. I laughed and will laugh again if I see it again. It makes me feel sad that a person is so evil that the world cheers his death but it was what he did with his life that it went that way for him. Frankly I was glad they dumped him in the ocean so no one could martyr OR mutilate him. Humor is about the unexpected and I have to say I was not expecting that.
  2. I would be happy to hear your definition but please not from a dictionary.
  3. I am sure it happens but in the Kearns ward lots of us walked to church together. I have no clue what any of them were wearing. They accepted us and believe me lots dont. Not only accepted but loved. They were so much fun too. Now I am getting homesick for that time.
  4. Judgmental is an attitude not an act. Of course we have to judge various things every day. Judgmental is self righteous and condemning not loving judgement.
  5. I lived in Southern Idaho as a child and was very much not wanted around, went to school in Moscow, Idaho with few LDS people and loved the church there. Went to CA, Oakland and Newark. Found some wards were very good and some were very bad. Moved to Salt Lake and LOVED it. Since have moved back to my childhood town to find that it had changed a lot in time I was gone and while it is not my favorite place it is a very good place. What I have found is that it does matter who is in your ward but it is mostly about your love of God that matters. With the love of God you will be good anywhere. In a great ward you will have so much fun though lol. I think the best ward I was ever in was in Kearns. Kearns 1st ward if I remember right. What a wonderful place.
  6. sister-in-faith you are such a kind person. Get yourself over to that temple! lol just kidding. well kinda. I feel so sorry for them too. They are searching for 'something' and instead of finding it are finding that garbage the truth that would make them happy is here.
  7. Thank you, Pam. Sometimes I think about that and wonder how much of this life they can see. Do they see us making stupid mistakes and worry about us? I know my grandmother told a few people that grandpa had never left. She was not LDS but talked to grandpa up to the day she died. (and yes he answered back) She didnt tell many people because she thought they would decide she was crazy which she was not. On a funny note can you imagine people, who want zero population growth, going nuts at the thought of every person who ever existed living right here beside us? Even worse is that I am inclined to think that the preexistence is here too. So that would mean that all people are here. lol.
  8. If you are truly religious then how can you be judgmental?
  9. I have no experience with that but have wondered if I ever would be able to do that because of my memory problems as well. In your case it seems to me that there is lot of work for people to do that dont require all that much memory. If your bishop thinks you can do it I am sure that the temple has use for you and will help you when necessary if needed. You are so fortunate to have this chance. I hope you go for it.
  10. I think we sometimes receive revelation on things that include things outside our personal stewardship but only for ourselves. Never outside church doctrine though. For instance we are never going to get revelation to have extra wives unless God tells the prophet. No matter how sure a person might be about that. lol. If we come across a scripture or situation that has us concerned then yes we might get revelation about that. That does not make us the spokesman for that however. Another example might be like my husbands gg grandfather recieved revelation and visions that told him about a book that would come out of the New World. That it was the word of God. These visions he apparently did not tell anyone till he heard of the missionaries from America. Then he asked where they were and went to find them. Now those were pretty amazing revelations but they were for HIM and later as part of his testimony.
  11. I am not so positive it is doctrine that the Spirit World is right here. It seems likely but not sure it doctrinal.
  12. lol its funny but I have done the same thing. Not sure why.
  13. I thought of Samuel the Lamanite as he talked. He is willing to take the arrows and attacks but nothing is going to stop him from saying what has to be said. He is stubborn but full of love not only for our Father in Heaven but for us. I have so much admiration for him.
  14. We used to have a tabernacle here. After the stake center was built it was unused and became dangerous. Finally it caught fire and burned to the ground. It was devastating to the town. I always used to think it would have made a beautiful small temple. When I see what they are doing to the remnants of the Provo temple it is bittersweet to know that at least that tabernacle is going to be restored beyond its original beauty. What a blessing that is to that valley.
  15. For those who are upset that the building will be rebuilt as a temple I have to ask. Which do you prefer? A temple or for it to be torn down? It is going to be a huge expense as it is so it needs to be rebuilt with a very positive use in mind. Museums etc are nice but not really the churches business and we NEEDED a temple there so its a good blend of rebuilding and making it pay for itself.
  16. I thought it was a great talk. I also think you missed the main point. The Book of Mormon is either true or not true. You really can not have it both ways. If it is not true then who is it from? Well if its not from God then so who is left. I see absolutely nothing wrong with his logic at all.
  17. When I was a small child I noticed a small wooden cross with a figure depicting Jesus on my grandmothers wall. I had never gone to church at that time that I remembered. My grandmother told me it was Jesus when He was crucified. I asked her why he was all bloody and looked like he was in a lot of pain. She explained it was to remind people that Jesus died for us. I told her in no uncertain terms that I thought that was horrible and disgusting to make such a thing and put it in anyones house. I remember she tried to explain it to me but I could not see past the horror and cruelty. Now as an adult my opinion has not changed. I will never understand such a thing. If it offended my soul as an innocent child I have to trust that feeling that it is wrong. As far as putting it on the temple doors, I have to wonder if they wont change the doors as well. Considering its area though it does make a bit of sense to leave it on for those who have been taught it is a sign of reverence.
  18. So now we should have not only eternal, lifetime, but a couple of years marriage? What does marriage even mean? I have reading a science fiction series lately. One of the structures in that society was the trial marriage and the long time marriage. One thing interesting about them was this that differs from the mexican version. If the woman got pregnant it automatically became a permanent marriage and by permanent it meant permanent. No divorces given. the society recognized the temporary marriage but it was not favored by the society even though it was common. We have temporary marriages already. And we have permanent ones. Temple and nontemple. Frankly dont see a need to debase marriage any more than it already is.
  19. If the church approved it and saw that it looked like a cross then fine with me. It isnt the cross thats the problem anyway. Its the worshiping of a cross and forgetting the Man on it.
  20. It might be a good idea to send them a correction. No doubt they have place to do that.
  21. I guess I missed the three days of darkness? Dang!
  22. People think different than machines and that is why they used people. Scientists had spent 8 years, if i remember right, using standard methods like computers but had no luck. In THREE weeks people figured it out. Go Gamers!!
  23. For those who mock the boards being evil, well give thanks to God that you have not had personal experience to know better. I do and it makes my stomach ill to this day. I will testify to you right here that whille I believe in God I have 'seen' the horror of the adversary and it kept me from sleeping without being frightened that I would lose control to him while asleep for a year or more. I had nothing to do with the thing but some girls behind me on last day of school did but everyone in the room ran screaming from the room even those, like me, that werent even looking. The feeling of overwhelming evil is something I will never be able, or even want to, describe. Be wary but I just cant talk anymore about this. Just be careful.
  24. I would dearly love to know what scripture this came from. Individualism is not satans anything. We are each individuals as God our Father made us. WE make COOKIES with cookie cutters not PEOPLE.
  25. You are kidding right? Since when dont we have lunitic fringes in the church?
