  1. I remember a long time ago I got a 'presidential academic achievement award', signed by Pres. Regan. I was not thrilled by Regan's policies and thought he was a bit of a blowhard, but I got an award from the president of the United States! That was sooooo cool. I would have been happy to let my daughter listen to Pres. Bush II, and I am happy she gets to listen to Pres. Obama.
  2. Congrats! One day at a time, Cameron. IDK when an addiction gets easier to handle, but your week counts for a lot. I recommend learning a lot of primary songs. They have simple tunes and words that can push out all sorts of thoughts from your brain. I use them when I get mad at someone. In fact, I've managed to get myself trained so good that I will have a primary song in my head even before I realize I want to hit something
  3. You're very brave, and so is he. Your BP is probably going to wait a few weeks of regular church attendance and then try to schedule a meeting with your husband.
  4. And with video recording everything. Now that is hell.
  5. There you have it, the ultimate question about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Is the Book of Mormon true? If so, then Joseph Smith was a modern-day prophet. No other question compares.
  6. And they talk to God..and God talks back
  7. He would have been on the floor if it had been my child. But maybe we're being too hasty. The man was in his 60s, it may be he was taking medicine that affects impulse control or patience (my dad has a few of those ). Seriously, what kind of healthy person randomly smacks crying kids, especially in public?
  8. But Jamie, should he have admitted guilt to a crime he didn't do? Is honor worth so little?
  9. Sorry, that's the problem with art, what one person sees is not necessarily what another sees. What I see is the young woman has a letter that will change her life. She knows this, and is not entirely certain she wants to open it. I've been there
  10. Your daughter should have enough respect for your house that if she wants to engage in some behaviors you object to they should take place in her own residence. If she's old enough to be independent then she should not be denied that opportunity
  11. Just a Guy, with your legal experience just how important are experts? Have you seen cases where experts for the prosecution and defense look at the same evidence and tell the jury completely different things?
  12. Brilliant. You too, miztrniceguy.
  13. Are we really the kind of people that would kill an innocent person?
  14. I think it's time to throw a lot of the entrenched congress out, especially the ones mentioned in this article GOPers Decrying "Socialized Medicine" Go To Govt. Hospital For Surgeries
  15. I met my fiance in an internet multi-player game called Final Fantasy 11, or FFXI (kind've like World of Warcraft, only everyone knows WoW and no one knows FFXI lol). We were both fearless, daring, and loved to attack things normal people would wait 10 or 20 levels to fight. And we loved to drive others nuts while doing it. We were destined to be together, yet it took about 2 years to do it, with 2 more years waiting for him to graduate college. We are now finally together IRL and it's all I hoped.
  16. I spent my teenish years in a place that was about 76% Roman Catholic, who had no idea what a Mormon was and didn't care lol. There were only 4 of us in school, and one was my sister. At my current job out of 32 people in my crew there is only 1 other fellow Saint, and he's not very saintish. It's not so much that I feel like I'm in 2 different worlds, it's more like they have a lot of catching up to do
  17. Like I said, I can think of times capital punishment is justified. But I hold to the saying 'It's better that 10 guilty men go free than one innocent man be wrongly convicted'.
  18. Pinto. Nuff said.
  19. I found a less than 17 page report on the report (lol) Barry Scheck: Innocent, but Executed I think the New Yorker is superior, but you can get the gist from the Huff.
  20. Just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they're asleep Every time I put a bumper sticker on my vehicle it dies in gruesome ways. I've been bumper sticker free now for 9 years.
  21. I seem to recall a certain president that had almost 90% approval ratings and in a few short months, possibly 1 year, they went to historic lows. Which brings up a whole other issue. I've never been asked my opinion. No one I know has been asked to rate the president. Have any of you? How do we know the poll groups even ask people? You can make statistics say anything, just look at how various members of congress can take the very same statistics and come to completely diametrically opposite conclusions . Ohh I used the word diametric. What does that mean anyways?
  22. My brother came back from Iraq a mess, but he hid it really really good until his first suicide attempt (fortunately he was too lethargic from some pills that he didn't get deep enough). The past 2 years have been real eye-openers for me in regards to suicide and PTSD. I don't think he really wanted to die, I think he just thought he ran out of viable options. Kind've sounds like what happened to your friend's relative. I wish more people had a clearer understanding of what this life is for, they might be able to handle things better.
  23. Awesome, Gatorman. I love it. One thing about Idaho is you won't get rich off your elected position, in fact almost everyone in the legislature has a day job and gets into trouble if the sessions go over like this last year.
  24. I think it was more of an overview of how all this stuff happened with the end result of Mr. Willingham death. For years people have said there is no way an innocent man can be executed, but this article showed that it could happen at any time.
  25. Simon, I think you are overanalyzing things. A lot. Relax, read a few good books, and ask God.
