Does anyone say they are tolerant of Mormons?
-
Welcome back!
-
Maxel, I think the tolerance push in schools is to combat bullying, not to open the minds of children so far their brains fall out. Sometimes we look at things too much from an adult perspective.

Problem with signs is they are momentary and easily dismissed (as you well know). You can have all the signs in the world but if you do not have the proper foundation you will never act upon them. I recommend reading through the Book of Mormon again and stop watching anti-Mormon videos. You can be a defender of the faith for the rest of your life but right now what you need to do is actually find that faith

Advice on driving a stick (manual transmission).
talisyn replied to Dravin's topic in General Discussion
I am currently driving my sister's big ol' pickup and I will go out of my way to not stop on a hill, esp. parking lots, because idio-ummm other drivers will pull up inches away from the bumper. I've found that if I see a car come up behind me and I ease up a little on the breaks and roll down the hill just a few feet they will for the most part give me space. My bad habit is not downshifting when I approach a stop sign or red light, I just put the transmission in neutral and use the brakes. My very first can was a 74' VW bug, stick shift. I had to have my grandma drive it home because I didn't know how to drive one. I never regretted it, even after 2 clutch replacements 1 engine replacement and 1 carburetor fire -
Also, I found offering a Dairy Queen blizzard after church to be a good incentive until it becomes habit. Then you go down to cherry-dipped ice cream cones....then plain twist cones..then plain vanilla cones...then pretty soon your children will look at you like you're in league with the Sith if you ask if they want to go to Dairy Queen on a Sunday

I find the song LDS Church Music Interactive Music Player to be very helpful when I get inappropriate thoughts. Somehow the idea of a bunch of kids singing this at the top of their voices chases everything else away. This one LDS Church Music Interactive Music Player is also good. It doesn't have to be deeply spiritual, it just has to be stronger than what's in your head Edit: The first song is 'Do as I'm Doing' and the second one is 'Popcorn Popping'. Weird that the names didn't show. This site has tons of songs, pick out the right mental armor and you'll be set!

Don't do it! Tell your Bishop when you talk to him that you are uncomfortable and just want to go your own speed. How is he suppose to help solve a problem if he doesn't know there is one? Basic questions to ask yourself: Is the Book of Mormon scripture? Did Christ visit the Americas after He was resurrected? Is there a modern-day prophet? Was Joseph Smith a prophet of God? If all these are true then where should you be? Speaking in public is merely an annoyance that can be overcome by diligently saying 'No' a lot. Leaving the church because of it seems extreme.

Excellent. I am so gonna use this on my daughter's dad when she's older. Carissa, you have access to the internet and so you can go to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and look up LDS.org - Young Women Chapter Detail - Young Women Resource Guide 2009—Manual 1 It has a lot of links to even more good stuff. Now is the time to prepare for the rest of your life!Use the next 3 years to develop good habits so that when you're finally baptized you'll be ready for all that entails. Good luck to you, and remember your parents love you dearly.

huh Anyways getting to the OP. I'm sure it's mostly because of your new calling and how everything seems to be going so well for your family. But let's not forget the biology of age. The young woman your wife was once is gone, and is the young man you were. But when people reach a certain age they start to look back and think of things they might have done differently. You see your lovely wife, forgiven of her sins, and you think to yourself (in the little part of your brain you usually keep quiet) "Well gee, I could have done that too and we still would have had a good life!" The seeming unfairness of this situation is making you nuts. What you are not seeing is the pain your wife has gone through. She was on the path of repentance when you met her. You did not see her the day/night after an encounter, when the little voice inside her head - the one that said 'oh he's nice and cute and maybe we can make this into a real relationship', is silenced because she knew she made a big mistake. Never ever wish things were even between the two of you, numbers-wise. She has gone through a lot of suffering to get to a point where she could honorably marry you, Mr. Righteous RM. Go give her a hug, make some popcorn, and watch Operation Petticoat. You have a good life, go finish living it. Oh and stop asking for details about her past. That's kind've rude and annoying and will only serve to drive you both nuts.

Lol it is a good idea, and one that many of the poor already use. It's how 2 brothers and 1 sister are putting themselves through college. Do you remember when the Iraq war started years ago, one of the debates used by the liberal side against the war was that a disproportionate amount of the soldiers were from poor families/communities? It was big in the beginning but somehow it got to the point where an overabundance of poor people in the military was justice because it was one of the few ways they could repay the American people for the decades of welfare their families for lo these many generations used. I think military service is a great idea for anyone who is physically and mentally able (liberal me saying this ). We need more people to go into the military before college. I think our country would be the better for it.

The Miracle of the Gulls - Faith Promoting or Fiction

The crickets and grasshoppers all moved to my parent's backyard, and they are too far away from the river for seagulls. Who says insects can't learn? -
I worship one God, The God of Gods. It's not at all hard to reconcile. I worship God the Father and revere His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. I will not ever worship Harold Bines down the street if he ever reaches exaltation. Does that make it clearer?

Now the Army has good insurance. I have sibs that are in/were in the Army and I was impressed. I don't understand why it would be so hard to get that kind of care to every American who doesn't have insurance.
-
Not to mention the USDA
-
utcowboy, that was perfect.
-
I think the point was this should not have to happen here in the first place
-
It was a power thing, desirexnoel, and history is replete with siblings fighting sibling, parents killing their children, children killing their parents, all in the name of power. We are the same as we were in the pre-existence, why should it be a difficult concept to understand? lol you're much less cynical than I am

You know, a bunch of them never even read the Book of Mormon, but they believed. ----------- I came across somethings Orson Scott Card wrote about miracles, and I was thinking 'yes! this is it!' lol. From the article MormonTimes - More on how world views Mormons -
That's President Obummer to you. I always thought that 51 votes passed the bills, and it was only the ones that passed with 60 votes that were veto-proof. I'm wrong? The senate is super-majority? Well the part that concerns me about the guns is why now? Where were the guns when Pres. Clinton was in office? When Pres. Bush was? I'm sorry but when I see guns for the first time at a protest against the first black president I get worried.
-
I would love to say we have emerged from our racist past but news like this make me wonder Man carrying assault weapon attends Obama protest - Yahoo! News When guns go to political rallies reasonable discussion ends.
-
Thank you. I've been saying this for months. I've noticed the shrillest yammering voices are from those who thought Pres. Bush should have all sorts of shiny new powers and now find themselves with a left-leaning new president (not talking about anyone here, mostly talking about congressional reps and senators). Talk about a change Revolution on schedule every 4 years. I'm not a politician so you can trust me.

I think that if your clothes and shoes (if you wear shoes) are clean then you're fine. Sometimes the only clothes you have are the ones you wear to work. I laughed a bit when I read the OP. Your bro's clothes looked nice until you found out he went to church in them? That is true siblinghood isn't it?

But we don't really know if it's false doctrine. Cause we're not dead yet. Can't take anything for granted
