Indeed. She is very talented

Well I was joking at the time...but as long as the laws are not enforced why shouldn't they pay into Social Security? That's the same reasoning those who want to legalize drugs use. That's one of the reasons why Nevada keeps legal prostitution. I say open the gates of heck and watch those who advocate sin drown in the vile flood...ok I don't really say that, I was just channeling my inner paladin

Three words: The Patriot Act.

This is how I see it too. I also think things started going downhill when corporations were counted as partial people for tax purposes, kind've like back when slaves were fractions of people for census reasons, except slaves were whole people and companies are not. Once corporations got on even close to an equal footing as individual sentient beings it opened the door to all sorts of nifty little loopholes. Disclaimer: I love businesses. I even love capitalism. I love going to a store and buying sparkly shiny things.

Some G-rated movies are soooo funny, I think because the writers have to work that much harder to tell the story without using all the old off-color jokes and situations. I love the Ice Age 1 and 2 movies, and will see #3 soon!

You didn't put super strength on the list! That would be so cool. I had to go with flying, because that's probably the only thing that would still impress my jaded nephews

hehe I'm not saying insurance companies are not needed. I do not recall ever saying that. The point I was trying to make (obviously very badly) is that they are more than capable of defending themselves. They are businesses that make a lot of money. They donate a whole lot of money to various politicians their very well-paid consultants and lobbyists say they should. They will be fine, Beefche, I have no fear of that.

I will not be snarky I will not be snarky. Some days it is just so hard! What I want to know is when did we as a people decide to defend the poor helpless insurance industry over fellow Americans?

CPS is a whole other can of worms, one deserving of it's own thread. Just remember absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I knew it would happen. When I read about the speech I could picture Rush and Co. falling over themselves laughing when it occurred. What I want now is a bumpersticker that says 'No he didn't!'. It would start a flame war that would be even better than John and Kate!

lol I agree, it's easier to change things from within than without (very subversive, btw). My political leaning is more anarchist, but I figure since we're stuck with a gov't we might as well put it to work
-
Most Democrats are reasonable. Unfortunately reasonable doesn't make for good TV. I am acquainted with enough Republicans to understand this is common with both parties

I agree, but I think your idea of what kingmen are and my idea of what kingmen are is a bit different I was reading along Mr. Buchanan's column and was thinking 'gee, he isn't like I remember him' and got to this I wanted to see if he had any ideas on how to improve unity when I inadvertantly clicked in this link, right in the middle Superstore.WND.com - A WorldNetDaily Exclusive!Maybe I'm just tired, maybe I need to go to sleep and reread, but right now the irony is killing me Yes I know Mr. Buchanan doesn't own the website. That's what makes it so funny.

There was booing? I never heard about that. If so then I apologize on behalf of those of us dems who believe in civil discussion.

Actually I think the vast majority of our elected leaders do have our best interests in mind, unfortunately they sometimes come into conflict with their best interests There are 2 or 3 or 4 (depending on the number of political parties) paths to get to the same place. Everyone is right, everyone else is wrong, and no way will tere ever be compromise.

Agreed. I took econ in high school ages ago and one of the first things I thought when learning about the market was 'I have got to get in on this scam!'. But then I grew up and stopped being greedy ------------ Speaking of conspiracies, apparently the Illuminati and a bunch of space lizards are holding political prisoners about 14 miles south of my grandma's house, in a series of underground limestone caves. Just thought everyone should know...

Oddly enough, Traveler, Medicaid in Idaho is offering points for healthy activities. My mom is disabled and on that particular gov't insurance, and she gets points for every time she does her water-therapy or exercises a certain amount each day. She doesn't know what the points are for, but it gives her a goal

Can't you say 'Oops, I forgot I had this voice-activated recorder in my pocket!'?

I have come to the conclusion that all the interesting stuff happens when I work. For instance, last night this happened Obama accepts lawmaker's apology for 'lie' remark - Yahoo! News I was a bit surprised that it hasn't shown up here yet, so let me give a few quotes For a minute there I was like 'Cool! We're now like the rest of the world! All we need now is fisticuffs' Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought all those local and state laws in AZ and TX and CA were shot down because of all those federal laws already in place? Wasn't that the judicial reasoning? Anyways... We have all seen the ire and spite the issue of offering insurance to the people too rich to qualify for state programs and too poor to buy it themselves has created. We have heard the name-calling on both sides. I hope this serves as a reminder that people need to show a bit more courtesy to those who disagree with us. I will do my part in not being so snarky How embarrassing though, to call the President a liar on national (and international) TV for something he wasn't lying about?

---------------------- Well how are the pimps gonna report their umm..earnings...from their small service-based businesses? It's not like they can fill out those nifty w-4s we get at the end of January. And those girls work hard, they deserve the get social security benefits when the time comes. I wonder if that's how those construction companies that employ illegal immigrants cause they work so much harder do their taxes?

I agree, Bytor. If I weren't so busy trying to make a living I'd go back to pushing my idea of a one world order, ruled by the only person who knows how to do things right: me

Why is it so hard to understand why people who want to combat injustice and help others would be drawn to such things as the law and education, and let's never forget the fourth estate, journalism. The left has been around long before the 1960s. The fight for basic rights has been around since before Susan B. Anthony and the Pullman workers massacre. In the '60s the left began to see Gov't as a tool, one that has been used too many times to squash voices and freedoms, and yet one of the few that is available to any who can manage to get into that club despite lack of money or family connections. Camille Page reflects my own growing anger at everything to do with politics. However I disagree with her overall tone. As much as she might have loved the '60s they have little to nothing to do with the Democratic ideals I hold dear.

I hope this year the divine light shines upon all the teams that are not part of the BCS.

I called my daughter's school and let them know of my disappointment. Turns out they are busy getting notes to send home to parents before letting the kids watch the speech and we'll get them in a couple of days. I'm glad that they will show the speech, and a bit bewildered that the same procedure used for giving kids sex ed will be used for the US president. What a weird world we live in.
