Arthur Kane is one of my favorites too.  The documentary New York Doll is really wonderful.

I also love Billy Barty, a dwarf who was a great actor, and did a lot to promote normalcy in dwarfism (and wasn't afraid of the word "midget").  And he was in one of my favorite films, Foul Play.  He converted for the love of a woman, and never looked back.  A friend of mine was a sometimes chauffeur for Hollywood types, and absolutely loved Billy.

Well, first I look at the Topical Guide because it's awesome.  But two things are repeated quite a bit.  Believe/faith which I think includes a testimony of the restored Gospel.  and second, a willingness to enter the body of believers, which applies specifically to the restored Gospel.  One can be baptized by any number of churches, but the covenant we believe in, includes a dedication and faith in the restored gospel, and the priesthood keys that we claim.  So, having a belief in the current prophet is a faith that he has the keys of authority and that this is the true Church of Christ..

Just a decorative tradition.  Not all temples have Moroni, and I believe it was Nauvoo which had the first trumpeting angel weather vane, but it wasn't specifically Moroni.  For a long time only Salt Lake had the traditional Moroni. It wasn't until the LA Temple (1956) and then Washington DC (1974) that the statue became a tradition.  I think it became tradition because people recognize it as an LDS symbol, and it having a backstory that introduces people to the Book of Mormon, it just makes sense from a proselytizing perspective.

Let's assume church leaders are in it for the money.  So, to be in a position where you might get a salary or living stipend from the church, you would likely have already tithed for years, maybe decades.  Add to that, the fact that you would have likely been a bishop, stake president, ect., and spent countless hours of volunteer work.  You easily would have put far more into the system than you would ever get out.  So, if you are looking for a "get rich" scheme, Mormon leadership is probably the worst one you could choose.

Being a computer programmer, I would want hand counted paper ballots by a bipartisan group, with signatures of the voter. I also want to only allow absentee ballots if you are required somewhere (i.e. stationed overseas), and no early voting.  Then you force the purple finger, so people can't go from precinct to precinct.

Wikileaks doesn't seem to have a political ideology.  It's a collection of documents, from all sorts of sources (including LDS handbooks), which are not freely available otherwise.  He gets stuff, he publishes it.  As far as I know, he has never had a single document refuted or considered fraudulent.  Not one.  And no one in the DNC are even making that claim.  CNN believed them enough to fire Donna Brazille for leaking debate questions to Hillary (but, ironically, considers them taboo to discuss, and hasn't come out in condemnation of Hillary for leveraging the leaked debate questions to her favor).   I see no reason for Wikileaks to fake material, as any single fraud would taint their entire operation.

I was in a phase one building, it was basically the cultural hall, and the pulpit stand was where the overflow area would be, and that was it.  It was tiny, and they were begging for converts so they could expand their building.  The non-Mormons, if they didn't think we were weird already, thought our half church was totally odd.  It didn't help that the steeple was detached next to the building.
But based on my analysis of ward attendance and total number of wards, I estimate church attendance is somewhere between 6 and 9 million.   But considering that maybe 20% are part timer attendees, I would say 50% is a fair estimate.

There is clearly a double standard when it comes to the infidelities of Democrats vs. Republicans.  Frankly, I am surprised they didn't try to smear Romney, although I am sure they tried to find something.  That's far more telling about Romney really, since you should live a life so that if you are accused of wrong doing, your character will win out.  Trump is taking heat because it's probably true that he was a masher.  But I do find it hard to swallow the notion that some random woman comes forward after 30 years to complain about his behavior.   And for the NYTimes to actually run with this story as if it has even an ounce of verifiability, just tells me the deep dishonesty of the media.  Journalism is dead.

I love Halloween and used to get really into it, but it's also the day my dad died, so it's bitter sweet.  I think God took him that day so I would never forget the anniversary.  But, I also really like Thanksgiving too because it's a mini family reunion, from several branches of aunts, uncles, grand parents, cousins.  I just love having everyone together.

We often made a scarecrow as one of our Halloween decorations when I was growing up.  One year my brother mentioned that he thought it would be fun to dress up in the scarecrow's clothes and hold the candy bowl in his lap with a sign reading "Take two." Then if somebody got greedy he could growl out, "It says take two!"

I dressed up as a scarecrow kind of thing, stuffed magazine roles down my pants and stuffed my shirt with newspaper, and put a paper bag over my head with some kind of mask.  I definitely looked like a fake thing sitting on the porch.  I loved listening to the conversations of 'is it real" and then doing the startle jerk which always make them jump.
