Please Help! I need advice about my wife :)
mrmarklin replied to CousinOfJared's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
She does have a "disorder". It's called selfishness. -
If it was me, I could care less how my prohibition would affect my relationship with my wife. What is going on is the heart of any relationship, and is a deal breaker in my book.

Please Help! I need advice about my wife :)
mrmarklin replied to CousinOfJared's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
Early in our marraige, my kept threatening to leave me as a manipulative tool. One day i threw her the car keys, and said feel free to go. She stormed out, but was back in about 3 minutes crying. That was the end of her ever "leaving". I told her she was always free to leave anytime, and I was tired of her attempted manipulations. My wife did all the above that you are experiencing. I basically feel that if you love someone, set them free. My wife did then and does now know where the door is. -
I think I know what you mean now, Cubs Fan. And you are correct, too many coincidences are attributed to Satan. But I do believe that he is real, and we need to be very cautious about dismissing his influence out of hand. He does want us to not do well. He wants us to make poor choices and shirk responsibilities. We are our own agents, however and sometimes it can be frustrating that others assign certain reluctances or shortcomings on our part to the influences of the devil.

That's true, but we live in a very litigious society, and people have been called out for such comments or even less.

Ms. Molina was as surprised as anyone when this went viral. She went from having a few twitter followers to almost 900 last time I looked. So yes, this was a joke pic between her and her friends. She is not wearing tights, but leggings, which my toddler grandaughter also wears. They are a fairly thick and bulky knit stocking. Every woman to whom I've mentioned this incident, has thought that the note giver has serious mental and relationship problems, most of which cannot be mentioned in mixed company.

I don't store excess food either just for the above reason. It mostly goes to waste. Really. How many of us eat whole wheat anything that we make ourselves?? Yeah, I thought so. Here in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, we don't have basements, so food storage on any grand scale is moot, anyway. Our cupboards are full at home, and we own a travel trailer with some canned and packaged food in it. We could definitely live for a few weeks on our own if we had to. But I'm self-employed as a professional, and a layoff is not even a remote possibility. that's my preparation. Real preparation is getting educated for a good career, saving $$ for the layoffs that can happen to anyone and keeping the Lord's commandments regarding health etc.

This question has me totally stumped!
mrmarklin replied to MarginOfError's topic in General Discussion
iPad is the best of all. But $$$$$$. Worth it though. I have the IPad, old style Kindle, and an iPhone. They all have their niche and I carry all three when I travel. Big deal about the Kindle (regular) is battery life on long plane flights. And at my age staring at a lit screen is no fun after a while. iPhone for total handyness, and iPad is convenient computer substitute, magazine subscriptions, and it's a real good size for temporary computer use. I have an optional bluetooth keyboard for when I must use it for any "heavy" functions. I use AT&T for my iPhone because I travel overseas from the US a lot, and the phone usage is seamless. The other companies don't use the universal international protocol. If I didn't want to spend the $$$ for an iPad, I'd get the Kindle Fire. Several relatives have it, and within its limitations, it's excellent. -
She's getting revelation from the wrong source!

Nice old mechanic cost me $300, fight or forgive??
mrmarklin replied to creatorbri's topic in Advice Board
Where I live labor at a dealership is $115 an hour+. People gripe about it all the time, and it is very expensive to have one's car maintained and serviced. BUT dealerships have the correct diagnostic tools, factory trained labor etc etc. My dealer stands behind his work, such as when a repaired suspension component failed on my Land Rover, I got it refixed for free. Because autos are getting so hi tech the days of the independent mechanic are fading away except for oil changes and very simple tasks. To the OP, at least you got the labor back. But the guy had to pay for the part, regardless and you do have a new part! -
Maintaining faith and incorrect Bible translation
mrmarklin replied to TimP's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Easy to maintain faith with KJV only. Most of the "mistranslations" are fairly minor. -
Not in real life. At least not with friends. Religion, like politics is a very personal topic, and I rarely discuss it with friends of other faiths That's not what we have in common, and if anything it's done in a joking manner. It's hard to talk about objectively, and emotions are very close to the surface. Even on the internet emotions can rage. One forum I'm on had to shut down its religion section because of name calling, etc.

AAA The three deal breakers: Adultery Abuse Addiction -
Served in the old Andes South mission comprising Southern Peru, Northern Chile and all of Bolivia at the time. Time frame was 1967-69. Attended a 30 year reunion in 1997. Would you believe that most of the ex-missionaries were old, fat and balding with gray hair?????

My life experience tells me that any major commitment should be done after a foundation is laid. You have pretty much set up your requirements, and I wouldn't let anyone dissuade you from them. They seem reasonable to me. My life experience also tells me, through observation, that people who don't make the necessary financial and mental preparations for a family, marraige etc., have a lot more problems than those who don't. Yeah, they may get through it, but why take on extra problems when life is already problematic??

Find this very hard to believe. SFO still must lead in this category. Try to go to a restaurant without a gay waitstaff in the City. Impossible.

What do you think of this miraculous experience?
mrmarklin replied to Vort's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Having listened to and given many depositions, as well as having made court appearances has taught me that anyone's memory is imperfect. There could have been some details or nuances either omitted or overly emphasized. -
A more likely scenario is that the EuroZone will revert to the old currencies. This is not the Euro "crashing". If this happens (which I personally think is very unlikely) the Dollar will emerge, at least temporarily, stonger.

K-Marts closing is not necessarily a bad thing:D

He only makes $50 per hour???? How does he live on so little???? I couldn't support my lifestyle on that.................but it's another topic. The above being said, I totally ignore such people. At my age, I filter them totally out of my life by not being around them at all. Frankly if he challenged me on anything it's pretty easy for me to tell him to #(^! off. And you should too. Quit worrying about other people and your life will be easier.

Hi Martain, I guess I am taking a definite side here. The OP states that physical punishment, and by the quoting the statements of her husband, verbal abuse has been going on for 7 years. Then she states that her ex obtained a restraining order. This is the OP's own admission. I think the OP has indicted herself and not properly protected her son. Remember this all started when the boy was three years old! I don't think I'm being over judgemental or harsh at all.

I hear this sort of thing all the time, and I'm glad your husband will finally be able to afford at least catastrophic insurance. I don't know your situation--- But a lot of this revolves around the fact that people are not willing to move to get a better job, unwilling to take anything "beneath" them, or not directly in their "field" etc etc. I know several people who are underemployed in another state here in the US who could do a lot more for themselves here in PRK. They sacrifice for their "lifestyle", but gripe about financial problems. I get tired of hearing it. There just seems to be a lot of people who won't do what it takes to better themselves. (PRK= People's Republik of Kalifornia)

No one here is getting any sympathy from me. Just got a $17,000 bill from my dentist, which is the last third of the $50,000 worth of work my wife needs. My insurance paid $1,500. Had to hit the 401k plan to pay for it. Retirement postponed.................................. I don't get the whining of not being able to afford health insurance. That's the one thing that I looked for in every job I ever took: being able to get coverage for my family. And if the coverage was not good enough or affordable, I tried other options or other jobs. This really should be a priority in anyone's life, and I consider it a major lack of personal responsibility not to do this for oneself or loved ones. BTW my health insurance costs $2,452 per month. Anyone who thinks that the "obamacare" here in the US will be cheaper or "better" than what is happening now is deluding themselves. Many taxes etc. are being raised to pay for this plan. Even tanning booths are being taxed 10% to pay for it! I personally know several doctors that will not practice if this system survives the court challenges. When one thinks about it there's something fundamentally wrong with compelling everyone to buy something "for their own good". Sounds like another plan that was proposed millenia ago..........................

Swag think of this: No one feels more entitled than the current Geezer generation here in the US. They feel entitled to more than their fair share of retirement benefits (social security is actuarily bankrupt now), health benefits (Medicare is technically bankrupt now) etc etc. Your generation will bear the burden of this, either through astronomical taxation or much reduced benefit compared to the current retirement community. Here in the US we are currently running unsustainable deficits that will be either paid or defaulted upon by your generation. These problems are so great that in Europe, who are a few years ahead of us in this, that threats to the financial system are emerging that literally could cause a depression. Don't feel you have to defend anything Swag--it's on us.

I guess this can be argued with sophistry forever but the reality is that God only works in natural ways. He's not trying to "fool" us. He is the Great Scientist, and the universe was created using natural laws, because that's what God has to work with. If everything is either energy or matter, as we are taught then of course the universe or anything else was not created from "nothing." There is nothing in true religion that is in conflict with any science. Coming back to my original point: I guess we can argue about the true scientific "facts" forever. but one thing is sure, God never contradicted any laws of science or nature in creation.
