  1. Profiles? Is that what we're calling it? I thought they were character sheets. Hmmm... that might also explain why the various dungeon masters are called mods....
  2. And stuffed tigers found it to be a specist caricature amalgamating plush toys with imaginary friends.
  3. You can return the starter baby back to your matron of honor now. (that is an LDS tradition, right? don't the more "experienced" couples give the newlyweds a baby to practice on so they won't make so many mistakes with their own? That is a thing, isn't it?)
  4. I also wonder if the man has changed his ways and treats this watch with care, how will his heir treat it when it gets passed down, after seeing his father's lifetime of testing watch-tolerance? Will he value it as well?
  5. I don't know how you guys are posting about this after the great computer crash of Y2K.
  6. Because of the caffeine thing, right?
  7. Just to throw some more scripture at what's been mentioned so far, review the Intercessory Prayer: The premortal Jesus was a being of great glory. Let's not diminish that.
  8. Just read the chapter headings your first go-round. They'll tell you which parts are the actual Isaiah and which parts are Nephi's commentary. Then read Nephi's commentary. Now when you read the Isaiah portions you'll have a better understanding of why Nephi included those chapters. Then you can resume reading in order. When you read Nephi's commentary, you'll recognize a few themes that he loves. In fact, back in 1 Nephi he explained his purpose behind the Isaiah chapters (just before citing Isaiah 48): So you can expect Messianic themes about the coming RedeemerThemes relevant to the Lehites - specifically the scattering and gathering of Israel (Nephi really associates with the "isles of the seas")
  9. John Taylor had such thoughts. He shares some of the following in Mediation and Atonement (starting on the last line of page 140 (146 in the link), but you should probably read the full chapter (XIX) to get a fuller perspective).
  10. I attend association meetings with a similar purpose. The board opens it up for Q&A and then calls on me for this gem: "Seeing as how all items on the agenda have been satisfied, and there are no more questions, I move that we adjourn this meeting." Seconded and ayed <drops mike>.
  11. Meh. You were a frog then, you're a Mormon now. "What e'er thou art, act well thy part."
  12. I had a skewed perception of that segment since I watched it after reading this thread: http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discussion/50283-students-cant-answer-basic-questions-about-america.html
  13. Sure, but are their temple recommends still valid?
  14. The same Sura that stipulates women's modesty also provides instruction for men to maintain modesty. Additionally, there is a clause that talks about when such public covering is no longer required, and that modesty should be taught in the home. Sura 24:30-31, 58-60
  15. Are we thinking about the same movie?
  16. Knowing this about you, I will never sit next to you in the temple.
  17. You should get that looked at.
  18. History of the Church vol 1 pg 175 (just before D&C 52 was revealed):
  19. Did anyone else read the entries in Michael Westen's voice?
  20. Sounds like the principle strategy of the Pacifist DADD organization
  21. MORDORBUND (LDS.net posting): Sounds like Satan's plan to me.
  22. That's the mint date? I've been throwing away the expired ones.
  23. Say 'hi' to the McKinney's when you get there. You'll learn there's two things that money can't buy: true love, and home-grown tomatoes.
  24. Do the scriptures actually say these natural phenomena will increase? or simply that they will be, and we should use their existence as reminders?
