Ok, I'm back and reading through all the post's and continuing my search for music.  However, I became quite depressed when I thought "wait, golden oldies for the more mature members" only to find out that when I search for oldies but goodies, it's all music from my teen years.  I swear, I'm sensing a major fail is going to rear it's ugly head.

But I'm now set on the Halloween music, 50's through 00's and am now having to gather and listen to the past 5 years.  I'm not going to complain about the lyrics but oh my word, the musical landscape has really, really changed.  In other words, I'm way too old and out of touch for this, so I'm going to play Eminem and hope they never ask me again.

ICD-10, yes, I am the resident expert for our firm, and every other office we know who didn't prepare themselves.  The calls and emails are already rolling in, the charge tags are starting to pile up.  I get to review all our client's Dx's to make sure it's it all works.  The one saving grace is that I held a couple of training seminars so most all our clients have a clue.

October is going to be painful.

I can't imagine what it must be to work for a large clinic or hospital.  So please be patient with your doctors offices, they have a huge coding change to deal with and may not be in a good mood.

Yea, I found one ICD-9 code that was replaced with 31 ICD-10 codes.  It's all about specificity.  BTW, yes, there's a code for getting hurt in a spacecraft.

Last week a phone line was hit by lightning outside our Stake Center. It shot raw power through the building phone system, blowing out the punch-out board and phone jacks. It hit the DSL modem so hard that it arced to the firewall it was sitting on top of, thus the little spot welding on the chassis. Yes, it got killed. The first time I've seen this type of damage from a lightning strike.  Quite frankly, I'm surprised the building didn't burn.

This has been the busiest tech-wise I've been in my tech calling.

Congrats!  I live in the Arcadia mission so I can tell you that you'll have a good time riding your bike up some steep hills, unless you get placed south of the I-210, then it's avoiding traffic and distracted drivers.  Either way, it's not Ohio.

I'm in the same boat as you.  I listened for a while then it started to not sound right and felt even less right.  It wasn't until I really started reading between the lines that I got how slick he was becoming.  What really did it was Mormon Stories podcast.  It's blatant in it's message.  That's when I stopped.

I'm not afraid to listen to some far out stuff that has made me think, but I don't appreciate it when I'm being told that I'm wrong and my conversion is a farce.

I've been reading some of the comments about Dehlin on my facebook and I'm really dismayed at what I see as obvious.  He makes his living off donations for his podcasts (see here and here).  Being a podcaster who is a member give a certain credibility.  However, being excommunicated for the reasons he was strips away some of that credibility and donations would dwindle from members of the church.  The majority of donations would need to shift to those who are disenfranchised and against the church.  Church members would be strained to participate so he would be left, again, with the disenfranchised and anti as participants and donors, affecting his credibility to Mormons.

Also, read what he has now posted on his website.  It may seem subtle in places but there are plenty of keywords and phrases that screams out at me that his mission has become polarized.  Reading between the lines, His goal is to take people out of and hurt the church.  His mission in life reads almost exactly like Korihor's.

Plain and simple, he has evolved to be another anti-Mormon with a very slick message.  Thus, my earlier comment that I made (linky).  I was one who out-loud, denied God and Christ and the necessity of the church.  I fell really, really deep thus why my been-there, done-that experience has allowed me to see the slickness of Dehlin's message and what his goal really is.  It frustrates me that others can't see it but all must go through their trial of faith.  I just wish it wasn't by lifting Dehlin as a martyr for his cause who deserves praise.  Because he doesn't.

I listened to his interview on Mountain West Radio this morning (at least as much as I could before work got in the way) and I really feel for him because I recognize the same tone he has with what I had when I was first excommunicated - no humility (humility being submitting ourselves to the will of our Heavenly Father) and lots of pride.  I had to lose everything short of my life before I decided to humbled myself and accept what had happened and truly become obedient and turn myself to God.

Before anyone misconstrues what I'm saying, I chose to do what it took to come back into the church.  I know of others who humbled themselves, accept what had happened and turned to God who decided not to come back to the LDS church.  They also have found comfort and their lives have become much better because they not only became obedient to the word of God, they developed a personal relationship with God.

What I'm saying is that, and if by some weird confluences of events I'm actually asked, my advice to him would be to step out of the public eye, concentrate on what is important (his marriage and family), work at developing a personal relationship with his Father in Heaven and leave the rest alone.  Otherwise, he risks losing it all.

Even besides those who lionize him, many people are posting their regret at the ugly necessity of excommunicating John Dehlin. For myself, I feel no regret and don't see the excommunication as ugly. My only regret is that Dehlin and his ilk have chosen to commit spiritual suicide and drag as many others with them as possible. The excommunication itself is a blessing, the popping of an infected, pus-filled boil. The aftermath may look ugly for a while, but after things get cleaned up, it will become exceedingly obvious that it was the right course of action.
