  1. I can see that a number of members of this message board are hellbound. That's a pity, you all seemed like such nice people. Just goes to show you can never really get to know someone on the internet.
  2. Gun selection is like car selection. All kinds of arguements about which is better. As mentioned above, you are a heathen and will damned for all eternity if you choose something other then a Glock. That said, the first thing is to choose a caliber that you are comfortable shooting AND has a consistent ability to put someone down. I am assuming you are talking about a self defense weapon. Then if you have a range that will rent guns, you should shoot a bunch and different calibers. Whichever one you are comfortable with is the right choice. But if you choose something other then a Glock you are a pagan and going to hell for all eternity. I have carried several different handguns and finally settled on the Glock 17 early in my career. I've carried the same gun for 13 years now (G17). It has consistently performed. The only other advice I would suggest is to avoid anything but the larger brand name guns. You know, names like Glock, which I might add is what the armed portion of church security carry, and thus the Official Handgun of the Church. All others of course will find themselves in Outer Darkness.
  3. You called my name?
  4. Buy your food storage first. You can worry about silver and gold investments aftewards.
  5. I've told my son he is free to defend himself and will have my complete support...as long as he did not start things. If it ever happens and it ends up involving school officials, I'm sure they will not like having a conversation about the charges I will have the local prosecutors office file against the school officials along with the other student. I may even choose to have that meeting while I'm wearing my uniform to hammer home the point.
  6. I usually get to yell back. But I understand your frustration (at least I usually get to yell back, or at least raise my voice.)
  7. All my friends make more money than I do. Most of them signifacantly more. On the other hand...I like my job far more then any of them do. Sometimes being happy at work is more important.
  8. Bini sit down with your husband and read this: Easy Preparedness I've been teaching that lesson for about 6-7 years and have followed this plan for over 22 years.
  9. Speaking from the perspective of 15 years as a police officer. She will steal your parents blind. Period. She will do this to support her drug habit. While it is commendable that she wishes to assist her sister, inviting a drug addict into your home is asking for endless grief and drama.
  10. I've really ramped up my backpacking. I try to get out six days a week with a 32 lb. pack and I go 4.1 miles in about 70 minutes. Once I get that down to 60 minutes I'm going to add another mile. 5 miles has been my target, I may push it to 6. Two months or so at this pace = -12 lbs.
  11. Well, I did leave out the bank robbers, gang members and tweakers. I also left out the vampires and zombies!!
  12. I dream over the top action movies most the time. Imagine Aliens meets Predator meets Van Helsing meets Blackhawk Down meets Robocop meets X-Files all mixed in together. Good thing I like action movies.
  13. Rush, other rock music, metal, jazz.
  14. Some good comments ahead of mine. The only thing I have to add is related to the below comment. My EQ Pres. tried this with me. It was not possible for me to have another family with my work schedule and fulfill my HT assignments and other family/church commitments. I told them this was the case and I would no longer be able to meet with all my families each month. They removed the extra family after one month.
  15. I don't read mysteries, but I read a lot of military non-fiction. BHD was good. There are better ones. I just finished Outlaw Platoon. One of the best I have read. Here is a list of the ones I've read and liked (in no particular order). I've read many others, but these were the best. Inside Delta Force One Perfect Op Bravo Two Zero Lone Survivour Immediate Action Outlaw Platoon Blackhawk Down The Battle Of Mogadishu Shooter American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History SEAL Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite Navy SEAL Sniper Roughneck Nine One First Seal Rouge Warrior The Hunt For Bin Laden Roberts RidgeMy Men Are My Heroes: The Brad Kasal Story In The Company Of Heroes
  16. Yep. I enjoy listening to kook radio podcasts while I am at work. Helps pass the night.
  17. I did not take your post as a criticism. I was just explaining a possible scenario in regards to your question.
  18. No. First you need to make sure you know the deadly force laws in your state. Second, you use deadly force to stop the threat. If that is one shot, then it is one shot. If it is four then it is four, etc. Only you can make that decision at that time if in those circumstances. You shoot until the threat is stopped. Hypothetical picture. One suspect four officers. Deadly force is justified. 21 bullets fired. Sound unreasonable? Probably does. Now look at it this way. 3 officers fired 5 shots, one fired 6. Does 5 or 6 from a single officer sound more reasonable? Then you multiply that by 4 for all the officers involved. There are so many dynamic factors occurring in a shooting that it often sounds unreasonable when there is a shooting. I can draw from the holster, fire three rounds on target and go to low ready in less then 2 seconds. Now imagine how many rounds I can fire in two seconds if all I do is pull the trigger. A whole bunch really fast. I've never been timed doing that, but I would bet I can get 6-8 off no problem. Shootings are very dynamic, happen fast, and usually at close quarters. Shoot til the threat ends. Google police shootings and reaction times. Follow links to actual law enforcement sites and you will probably find some really good studies on shootings. We study the heck out of them ourselves and there is some good research. I'm not really articulate on explaining them, but this site is really good on explaining shootings: Force Science Institute
  19. I don't know the actual number. Several including some just from people talking on their cell phones.
  20. Most of my FB friends are people I have actually met in person. Probably around 90%. I have pretty tight privacy settings too. There are a handful of people from forums that I have also added, but not many. I don't think I have anyone from here on FB. I don't see the need for 3000+ friends I don't really know on my FB.
  21. Texting + driving = very bad things will happen. If you practice this habit, you are playing with fire and it will eventually burn you.
  22. Stopping power based on handgun caliber is largely a myth. I've read numerous articles, including an extensive one on officer involved shootings, that studied hundreds of shootings and the calibers etc. I could not find the article again or I would post it. IIRC they looked at .22, .380, 9mm, .40, .45 .38 and .357. I don't recall if 10mm was included. The end results were very close in % numbers, except for the .22 and .380 (I seem to recall they were lower). It mostly came down to shot placement. Put some bullets in vital organs the body stops working. The general consensus seems to be use 9mm, .40, .45 as they are the more common calibers. Our office has had shootings involving all three, with both fatal and non fatal results. Again, shot placement. We have had one that I know of that involved a 10mm that was fatal (that one also involved a 9mm and shots from both calibers were fatal). While I am a member of the Church of Glock, my real opinion is that each individual needs to find the handgun that they are comfortable shooting. As for calibers, my opinion is that you stand a better chance of doing what needs to be done with the larger calibers (9mm, 10mm, .40, .45, .357). I prefer auto's to revolvers, again, that is a preference thing. I know plenty of people who like revolvers. Was there anything I missed that you asked about?
  23. Hala, I have some answers to your questions, but not the time right now. I'll get back to you later tonight on what you asked about.
  24. Good heavens no. There are so many heathens and pagans not shooting Glock's that the missionary work MUST continue.
