  1. I know that no everyone feels this way but...as a convert who became part of the RS presidency before I had any clue what RS was...I am pragmatic about callings. I try to hit targets. I cut out any activity that we hold because of tradition. I reach up into my head and turn off my emotions and just do those things that need to be done. Could you replace your counselors? Is there someone in RS who is dependable? Re: Boyfriend and visits. Remember the counsel in Strength of Youth about not being alone together? This is good advice! Better safe than sorry. 😊
  2. I am not sure what to say. I wish you the best. Sometimes in a job - a calling is a type of job - you have to do things as your boss wants you to do them. I would try to please the bishop, put more work onto your counsellors if possible, try to streamline things a bit, be less ego involved by which I mean there are many ways to be RS president...which way is most pragmatic in this situation? Good luck!
  3. My old lady with Kevin Kline. Kristen Scott Thomas, Maggie Smith. This movie tells a story of the ugly consequences of adultery for children and spouses even in cultures where casual adultery is accepted
  4. Don’t admit to having Albertan relatives while going through the process (but no doubt, you try not to acknowledge this branch of the family most of the time anyway 😉! )
  5. I thought that the Man in cities needed protection from @mirkwood!
  6. Thank you! The towns and cities in Man really need some help!
  7. Good to have you here!
  8. The Clapper an off beat but charming movie. Some f bombs bust otherwise not bad. Tracey Morgan can act! He was very believable.
  9. Muslims don’t have a central religious leader like the pope or our prophet. They have individual leaders. So some Muslims may wish to fight the US but most Muslims think that these fighting Muslims are nuts.
  10. My bishop is a black refugee from Africa. On the bishopric we have an immigrant from the Philippines and one white guy. We have a university and a college in my ward so we have lots of educated people. We are between 1/3 to 1/2 Caucasian depending on the year. Not happy with the composition of your ward? Why not attend another ward from time to time. Spanish ward maybe? You can always visit other wards.
  11. Vikings! They get everywhere! Even Canada... Researchers in Newfoundland and Labrador are finding evidence that may give more answers to a millennium-old mystery — just how far the Vikings reached into North America. Research sheds new light on Viking travels in N.L. A second, more southern Viking site may have just been found in Newfoundland, according to research from an international team of archeologists working in the province. Researcher Sarah Parcak told CBC News that her team has found evidence of a Norse-like hearth and eight kilograms of early bog iron in an area near the southwestern-most coast of Newfoundland.
  12. Very pleased that you are here! Welcome! Look forward to your posts.
  13. You look very nice in that suit! In fact you raise the tone of any gathering!
  14. https://youtu.be/5Ua-WVg1SsA This is how I feel about nutrition. My doctor now looks sheepish if anyone refers to the Paleodiet. He used to be a major supporter. Have you noticed that any dietician straight out of school always says, ‘It calories, just calories!’ But after a few years, they get very quiet?
  15. But you look so nice! How is this possible? I had a blessing on the weekend. The Venn diagram of Canadian and member of COJCOLS almost killed us. Who will do what? We could neither decide nor impose our will on others. It amazes me that any two of us manage to enter a doorway. You first! No I insist you first! My new bishop by the way has revealed himself to be very clever. He greets people who have not been to church in awhile with, ‘Don’t you like me?’ This is the perfect way to encourage people to attend here. Man is genius!
  16. If you know anyone who might like to immigrate, here is the link for Manitoba. Winnipeg the largest city has dangerous neighbourhoods, by Canadian standards, but if you avoid these areas there is no problem. I may retire to Winnipeg. There are many inexpensive activities for all ages and a zoo. There will soon be a temple. Some smaller cities are virtually crime free. Healthcare is free and schools are good. https://www.immigratemanitoba.com/ I can personally testify to the warm and kindness of people in Manitoba. The saints in Brandon will welcome anyone with unending love and kindness. If you feel this is appropriate, would you mind sending this on to your bishop or perhaps the employment specialist in your ward? https://ca.indeed.com/m/jobs?q=Maple+Leaf+Foods&l=Manitoba Info on Brandon Ward Sun 10:00 am Bishop Smith 1 204-727-2220 Google exploratory visit Manitoba and don’t admit to family or friend in Canada but outside of Man
  17. @OhThatMatty So pleased to have you back! We love you! Celibacy is hard. Being single is tough. When you are single it is like driving a crappy car, you feel every bump in the road. But there are things worse than being single, like being trapped in a loveless marriage, being married to an irresponsible or spiteful person. Buck up, go to activities and make friends. So glad to have you back! ❤️
  18. I envy you more than I can express! Spent yesterday shopping with my mother whose dementia causes her to be inappropriate. Well she could win medals for inappropriate!

  20. Please let the 2nd Coming happen tonight. I just cancelled my temple session as I am working the weekend....
  21. We’re heading to Canada! Party at the border!!!
  22. Oh come on! It is a belly button piercing not an amputation! Relax! My mother used to forbid my older sister from wearing jeans to school. My older sister would change into her jeans under a tree. My mother was also convinced that only prostitutes wore anklets. Now nice ladies wear anklets to church. The world will not fall if a girl gets her belly button pierced. Lighten up!
  23. At least it is not permanent like a tattoo! Pick your battles! How are her grades? If the grades are okay, then I would let her.
  24. Some people like tidiness. They like to put all the red balls here and the blue balls there. If they were to serve you a meal, no doubt they would be clearing your plate away before you had finished dinner. Ignore them. I suspect there will be special counseling for them in the celestial kingdom.
  25. Love this! https://babylonbee.com/news/local-christian-proud-loving-people-exactly-like/ The politics stories are great. I found something to offend everybody. Shocking lack of ‘Blame Canada’ stories. Ignored again!
