  1. Love your sister. The Lord works best through people who's greatest goal is to love their neighbor.
  2. People have their agency and they chose not to believe Joseph Smith and murder him. Does that mean he was not a prophet? I fail to see your evangelical friend's logic.
  3. BTW don't we already have and active tread on tithing? Also, unless your a bishop, judging someones motives is an extremely dangerous pastime and a sin that is just as bad as not paying a proper tithe, just saying.
  4. I think when someone gives advice it is important to go to Lord with it before acting. Thus , it is between "You and the Lord".
  5. http://www.lds.net/forums/images/editor/separator.gifOr they simply didn't watch the commercial and wanted to join the mob.
  6. I am a center of the aisle type so I get it from everyone.
  7. You are both wrong. Bull Dog is the best brand of root beer.:)
  8. My family had a situation that was different but, I guess the principle is the same. My wife was called to be a counselor in the primary three weeks after we were both baptized. Our daughter was still a couple years away from adulthood and has special needs and I worked crazy hours. At the time I personally felt that her being called was not a good idea because it would make it harder for her to get to know her fellow sisters in Relief Society. We went to the Lord with our concerns both felt she should accept her calling and she did her best. She still got to know several sisters in the ward very well and excelled in that calling.
  9. Sometimes work gets really boring and this is more uplifting then sports talk radio.
  10. The Book Thief. It was fantastic.
  11. Mine says nothing.
  12. This is a great quote. To piggy back on it a bit I would say that the times I personally have been most successful sharing the gospel is when I forget about the person I am sharing with accepting what I say and just concentrate on "loving my neighbor".
  13. While I disagree with the life style choices some people make I do not feel it is my place to judge them. They will be judged by their Lord when it's time. It is my role to love all of my brothers and sisters because they chose their second estate and this mortal life can be extremely difficult at times. Making harsh statements that cause people to stop listening to your points does not accomplish anything. Becoming someone's friend and having candid, respectful conversations with them can.
  14. Talk to your Bishop. If he does not suggest professional help, seek it anyways. I know it can be exhausting when one hears that they are worthless on a regular basis but don't give up. There are ways you can learn to validate yourself and find self worth. Once again, don't give up.
  15. Patience is my word. Nothing in this world is harder sometimes then patient waiting. There are a lot of applications for patience in my life.
  16. You should try the church's addiction recovery program. You are in a shame cycle right now and will continue to smoke and seek other forms of "Instant Gratification" until you break said cycle. Also it is a bad ideas for other to perpetuate this type of cycle as it accomplishes nothing positive.
  17. Hello, congratulations, and welcome.
  18. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
  19. So, in other words we become perfect in this sphere but, when we move on we can still progress. I get it.
  20. I saw "The Book Theif". It was fantastic.
  21. The Blue Ridge mountains (Where I live) have a blue tint to them becausae A tree that grows on them gives off a gas that looks blue.
  22. If we became "Perfect" in this life wouldn't that rule out eternal progression?
  23. I was going to simply say love your son but, your agonizing over this proves that you do. The rest is between you and your Heavenly father.
  24. I through mine in the dumpster. Man that little bugger is creepy.
  25. The Greek word that is translated to perfect means complete. I do not think we are meant to achieve perfection in this life, but as has been stated by other posters it is not an excuse to not work towards the ideal.
