I wonder if this is a subtle way to prepare members to strengthen their covenants.  Perhaps a reminder and encouragement to make sure you lamp is full and that you have extra oil?

Just a note of clarification on the above. When a disciplinary case is judged to be "simple" (for example, the accused has willingly confessed and is humble and contrite) only one councilor speaks on behalf of the accused, and one speaks on behalf of the Church (the two men who draw numbers 2 and 1 respectively).  If the case is judged to be "difficult" (for example, the accused claims innocence in the face of damning evidence) then it can become a 4/4 or even a 6/6 affair (all odd numbers speaking on behalf of the Church; all even numbers speaking on behalf of the accused). Out of all of the many disciplinary councils I participated in, only one was deemed to be difficult. 

Since the entire Bill of Rights has been under attack - or gutted by this administration...

Looking back at the April Conference addresses, Elder Packer's address was headed, "The end of all activity in the Church is to see that a man and a woman with their children are happy at home, sealed for eternity." Elder Perry's address was headed, "Family is the center of life and is the key to eternal happiness."
 
Just a short time later they would pass away and the Supreme Court would rule in favor of same sex marriage. How profound and insightful their words seem now. Truly we have prophets in these latter-days.

In another thread or two, it's been stated that we don't know exactly what went on with former prophets and revelation.  We don't know and that it's ok that we don't--sometimes we are asked to go on faith.
 
I'm involved in the Indianapolis Temple open house/tours that is currently going on.  As part of the tour, we are letting people know that no photographs are allowed inside the temple, but photos are available on our website.  One woman asked why no photographs if there are already pictures available? The sister missionaries turned to me with panic in their eyes and I simply responded, "I don't know.  I don't know the answer to that. All I can say is that we are asking that you not take photographs while inside."
 
I think that we are in an information age that can be overwhelming with knowledge.  We have so many facts and other information available to us at the touch of a finger.  With the advent of the internet, information can be gained instantaneously.  But, sometimes we need to be courageous and say, "I don't know."  Sometimes that needs to be followed up with, "but I'll find out." And sometimes we need to be satisfied that we don't know something and that it doesn't mean we are wrong, dumb, or secretive. 
 
This reminds me that there are some things about the Gospel that I don't understand at all or fully.  But, isn't that what faith is for?  I have a testimony of Jesus as my Savior, that the church is His church, the Book of Mormon is scripture and Joseph Smith was who he said he was. Everything else just falls under that.  
 
So what if my understanding is less than a 2 year old? I plan on taking some awesome classes in the next life and there are gonna be some great teachers.... "Sealings: what do they really do and why are they so necessary? -- taught by Elijah and Malachi."  
 
I don't know everything and I'm ok....I need to make that my mantra.

I can see the church having its own program and severing ties with BSA because its on now, an across the board agenda push with "civil rights" to back it - regardless of our religious and moral beliefs.

Its true.

Trusting a doctor is just plain crazy.  Find yourself a broke psychopath, and offer him whatever you've been wasting on doctors, to kill you if you haven't lost the weight by the end of August.  Then you can have real faith.
