Revelation from living Prophet/Apostles Personal Revelation (needs to temper following item) Revelation from to deceased Prophets and Apostles If it's not been received as Revelation, it is not doctrine. Opinions of Prophets and Apostles don't count. That's my take on things.

Zero tolerance is one of those buzzwords that means "We are going to do and say whatever we like, cause we make the rules". Zero tolerance is just an excuse for power-trips. I also think "Zero Tolerance" is also "selective enforcememt", especially in this case. How many others scribbled on their desks, and met with no enforcement whatsoever?

How many of these people would leave the house unlocked when they leave? Loads of houses are empty during the average work week. Twitter is just another way of parking out front to see when people leave. It only gets interesting when you start pairing up the "I just bought a $3000 TV" with the "I just left for a month long vacation" tweets, which is a bit more of a task.

Is surfing the internet at work a form of theft?
gabelpa replied to Suzie's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Company policy people. Where I work, it's laid out in our IT Equipment Usage policy. Lunchtime and breaktime for personal stuff. As I am IT administrator and programmer, what constitutes work-related for me can and sometimes does involve Internet forums, chat, and Facebook/Twitter... what I do on Facebook as well is restricted, i.e. no timewaster games on company time. Twitter is useful esp. as I follow some tech people and need to stay on top of security threats... Twitter is a great way to spread that kind of news. -
What song is currently stuck in your head?
gabelpa replied to Blackmarch's topic in General Discussion
The Escapist : Video Galleries : Rebecca Mayes Muses : Wolverine: Uncaged (flash warning) Rebecca Mayes, she does video game reviews in song. Sometimes her songs are really good, sometimes not so good. She has a haunting voice, and when her songs take advantage of that, then they are stellar. -
I work in an environment where we are programming according to the laws of physics and Engineering standards. There is a lot of math and a lot of logic around me. As such, we are subject to interpretations of specification and mathematical proofs. There are varying standards for what we are willing to accept as fact. I haven't been through all 7 pages yet, but here is my question for markwinfield1. What standard of proof do you require for your question?

Way I see it, we had this Big Bang thing billions of years ago, all the stuff in the Universe came from there, but we don't have any ideas as to what the Universe was like before that. Here's a fun mental exercise... God has infinite power (Priesthood), right? Infinite power means infinite energy. Matter can be turned to Energy, so why not the other way around... Heavenly Father therefore could have created all the matter in the Universe from his Priesthood Power, and made it go BANG! He then guided everything until we reach the point we are at, billions of years later. This is an over-simplification, but it ties together the First Law of Thermodynamics and the Priesthood. Great part here is, God is Infinite, and you can not diminish infinity by taking away a finite portion of it, it stays infinite.

I like Sci-fi. Seperately, I like fantasy. I do dislike how they get grouped together, as Anne McCaffrey is a far cry from Greg Egan. I generalize, yes. Sometimes I like reading about a fantasy, impossible world with unexplained magics and creatures, other times I want to hit something hard and cerebral that challenges my intellect.

Which would you consider a worse sin, and why?

Either way, family life would be really weird when wife#1 came back.

Just start writing. Get a notebook and write in it in your free time. Heck, get an iPhone or other smartphone and write it in Google Docs. You'd be surprised how many empty moments there are when you start thinking about filling them with writing. Honestly, you'll be lucky to get a publisher, and despite the hype, self-publishing aint all it's cracked up to be. Wingnut, it's easy to write a book that appeals to both LDS and anti-LDS.. don't make it religious at all!

Many many reasons, but it all ends in the same place. We have food, supplies, and most importantly, knowledge, at the ready when any sort of crisis comes along. :-)

As a Father, I don't know if I want to be involved in a manner as suggested by chitchat. I'd like my kids to talk to me about who they are dating, but I realise that is an idealistic view, and a sensitive subject for kids. All I do know is that if my daughter's boyfriend sits outside in the car and honks his horn for her to come out, he's going on a date with ME instead.

Prepping? I think what you think that means is not the same as what we think it means. Prepping, is short for preparing, so what are we preparing for? On this board, typically we are following Prophetic counsel to keep a year's food storage, not for "The Rapture" or for a catastrophe, but because it is what we have been asked to do. My family used up our food storage when we had a financial crisis, and are going to be building it up again soon. I get the impression this is not what you mean by prepping. Sounds to me like something that has had a name tacked to it, without any context. What do you mean by prepping?

If you can, agree on a budget for his gambling. See if you can convince him to only put a certain ammount to it. That may help get his addiction under control, and possibly go towards him realising he has a problem.

Look up the Square Foot Gardening technique. Fairly easy, no soil prep as you in-fill with a growing mixture, and a lot smaller space. It has it's critics and drawbacks, but it worked for us before we moved, shaved about £100 off our food bill, and that was with half our plants dying(slugs, snails and rabbits ate more than we did) Will build one next year or towards the end of this year in our new property.

We have about 10 mixed-faith couple in our branch of ~50 families. Only one of them comes to church, usually it is the LDS spouse that bows to the pressures of the non-LDS. The children grow up not knowing what to believe, though they may develop a stronger testimony than a non-mixed faith couple. Do you want to risk the Eternal Life of your children?
-
Not within mainstream Mormonism it's not. We're not married until death, we are married eternally. It gets a bit sticky when people don't feel attracted to their spouse, but weight can be overcome. There may be deeper underlying issues. Heck, I can't even fit into my old motorcycle leathers any more, by a good margin. It could affect my wife's feelings for me, but she doesn't allow it. Attraction is a choice we can make, just the same as anything else in life.

its a very expensive way of gaining healthcare that sometimes is mediocre - my national insurance and private health insurance bill for our family would be considerably less than my Mother in Laws medical insurance for herself and her family, and for that I get much better healthcare. My Doctor does come out to my house to see me if I can't make it in etc and I don't have to pay for my ambulances or contribute towards seeing my Dr. Right now being a Mum of an under 1 don't need to pay for dentist or eyecare -Charley

then do what you are doing and speak up, start your own political party, get people to vote for you - after all its how the socialists got in in my country they didn't like the state of play and did something about changing the situation. Its why we have representatives in parliament in my country, you have the right to bend their ear, or to write to local papers, start petitions and whilst it may take time things can be changed. I mean personally I am not overly bothered about my taxes maintaing roads or schools as I have no need of either but willing to bet I am a minority and personally I don't like nuclear weapons so vote against them However if you do not have the support of the majority or a large enough number then you won't get change. I have spent times in my life campaigning for higher taxes and better services - I didn't get what I was campaigning for but that does not mean my rights are erroded it means democracy won. Which is what the poeple I grew up around fought for,. my right to be able to say umm I don't like this can it be changed? And quite frankly I find the socialists in charge of Scotland right now have always been the first to listen to their constituents and are very accessible etc I have actually but forward ideas to them and the party convener has used them Instead of moaning about your rights being erroded use the ones you have to convince people you are right. Personally you would never get my vote but there are people who will listen -Charley

I would love to work for the company that does the designs. You know they're just exploiting these groups... On another note, could you imagine being the guy that did the voice overs for the K & K intro?
