  1. That's a great idea!!! I teach 4th Sunday, and it's soooo hard to come up with newer ideas on Ministering cause I've already taught everything about it.
  2. @Lost Boy I kinda agree with you. The other driver chose to have a car without the proper insurance, knowing the risk of getting hit and not having coverage. It is his fault, not your daughters nor you, he chose to not carry insurance. You just do your part, if you are required by your insurance to pay the $1,000 , then that's your responsibility (I would make my daughter work for it). But the other driver made his choice, but didn't think about the consequences. Is it the nicest thing to do? (To tell the guy: Sorry, your problem dude!) Probably not, but it is the law in your state, and you are choosing to follow the law, and use it to protect you. The other driver should've known better. You're good.
  3. Cant help you there, I'm reading the Book of Mormon, and I just had to skipped Isaiah (Well 2Nephi's Isaiah's quoting). I'm a failure.
  4. Ok. Sorry. I live in one of the best school districts in GA (Public schools), and the teachers are the best, even though it's a very rural area, with very limited sources, our teachers work hard to maintain the reputation they have.
  5. Elon Musk is awesome. My husband and I were just talking about him the other day, and he's just a very bright person, super smart. Plus, he seems to be very nice and down to Earth. The Government is good for nothing, BUT our teachers are the best, and they try to teach the best they can with the crappy salaries, and crappy tools they get from the state and Government. I appreciate those teacher because, I love my kids, but I don't have patience to teach, I wish I did, but I don't.
  6. Hmm... yeah... probably... my daughter is 11, and I can see how she will be a great missionary, she talks about it all the time, so... if she was to fall in love and think twice about serving... and actually not doing it, yes... I guess some part of me would be disappointed. I say... just my opinion, let her go, she can go, be a wonderful missionary for he and your, and by the times she comes back you'll be almost done with school, hopefully with job prospects and much able to bless her life with you having a career, and a way to support a family. If you guys decide to stay together while she is serving, you have to be aware that she might break up with you also, people change a lot during their missions, and she might get to feel different about you afterwards. and the same with you, you might get to meet someone else... Just giving you more things to ponder about
  7. Yes, she needs to go and serve if that's what she's feeling prompted to do. Maybe even you could also go and serve. Or get ready for her to come back as a new person, and then marry each other if you guys feel like it. For either one of you this time, in your youth will be the only time you'll be able to serve a full time mission, by yourself, and teach people the Gospel. Later on, you both could serve senior missions, BUT what she'll learn during her mission will help her become a better woman, wife, mother, and member of the church. Plus she'll grow so much as a woman, and daughter of God. She needs to go if she's being prompted to go.
  8. Hi! Just wondering if any of you are in the areas that are saying may be affected by this hurricane. I live in GA, 2 wards in our stake (including mine) have been asked to take families of some wards from S Carolina into our homes. During Hurricane Sandy I was living in PA, and our stake was able to go to Rock Away, NY, and participate in the cleaning process with Mormon Helping Hands... I had never seen soooo much destruction, it was seriously... horrible, heart-wrenching, very overwhelming. It was like a war zone, people lost everything, and it wasn't the hurricane rain itself but the surge from the ocean. It was bad. I just remember how Sandy wasn't even as big as Katrina or Maria, but... Florence seems to be a big one, and my heart just freaks thinking about all those people that will be affected by this storm.
  9. You should post the video so we can all laugh!!! But haha seriously though... kids trust others and they are naïve, I don't think is funny to laugh at them for being innocents. When my kids were little, of course grandparents and my ex would tell them about Santa... every time they would ask me if Santa was real I would tell them the truth, hahaha but because of the type of relationship I have with them, they would think I was just messing with them (I'm a fun/funny mom). My 11 yrs old doesn't believe in Santa anymore, the one that's 8 does believe. So sweet. I think some thing are acceptable, some others can be mean or hurtful.
  10. I was 14 yrs. old, a Freshman in HS. It was about 10 am in Chile (Around the same time in NYC), and I was in a music class, we were doing nothing, and the teacher told us about it. I had never heard of the Twin Towers before then, not even such thing as terrorists.
  11. Healthy people don't kill themselves or hurt themselves. We are commanded to take care of our bodies. By hurting ourselves we are not keeping that commandment. At the end is between the person and the Lord, as the Lord can see inside people's hearts and minds. But... If it is yourself, asking those questions, and wondering if it's a sin... well... if it's bothering you enough to ask, then you already know the answer and are very aware of what you're doing or thinking about doing. Instead of hurting oneself is always better to seek help.
  12. I'm assuming the calls would come in a PDF file, so the future missionary can always just "try" to open the file without reading it and then print it, and still have all the excitement and announcement party. Just need to not succumb to the temptation to read it. LOL
  13. Exactly, the fact that the church is not stablished with ward or branches and stakes in those countries and the are no full time missionaries, doesn't mean that people in those countries are not being taught the Gospel (formally or by example). I've heard of members of the church getting converted here in the States and going back to their home-countries to teach the Gospel to their friends and families. I think the Gospel is being taught everywhere by member-missionaries. (And the internet is becoming a great tool to preach and teach the Gospel). The fact that a Temple is gonna be build in India it's a great deal, as only 0.0001 % (something along those decimals) of the population in India are members of the church. Makes you think, probably between now and the dedication of that temple many will be converted as you need people with temple recommend (tithe payers, faithful members) to go to worship in the temple. Why to have a temple in a country where no one is a member? Probably because from now to then many will be converted. The temple in Thailand will also help convert people in Thailand and surrounding countries. Member missionary work is so important as 70% of world population has no access to fulltime missionaries. https://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/elder-pearson-independent-voices-needed-sustain-faith
  14. What!!?? I thought you were a guy, LOL That's so cool!
  15. I have no idea what Non- video services mean. Sorry. A Fire stick is a stick you insert into your TV, and it works with internet. It streams tv shows and movies and tv channels. It's pretty cool. I didn't trust it at first, but that's the only way we watch tv.
  16. I'm thinking Roku is like a firestick. We have a FireStick, Amazon sells it I think. And we like it a lot. We cut our Cable and Netflix, as that thing (Fire stick) has every show you can imagine. We can also watch movies, tv series, and live tv as well (even channel that you would find on cable). We like it a lot. We watch so little tv, that I'm sure we wont ever have cable nor Netflix again. Oh, we paid like 40 buck for it on amazon, and we just paid our monthly internet bill (which lets us lower our internet usage on our cellphones) Pretty sweet.
  17. I've always heard that, that He doesn't know, Only Heavenly Father. Jesus said in the New Testament: “Of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:36). Yes, and that's why I was asking the question. We know of the signs, and we can see how many of them are happening right now. I've heard things throughout the years, things that are supposed to happen in the church before he comes, involving the Kirtland temple and Jackson Missouri, but I wonder if maybe those things will take place during the millennium. Some times I wonder how much worst the world has to get for him to come back.
  18. That is so true! That's a good to look at it.
  19. Uggghhhh you guys are sooooo boring! LOL
  20. I know, we don't know when He's coming (He doesn't even know). But I just want to know your thoughts on this topic, just for the fun of it, as probably everything we say here about will be speculation. What are your thoughts? Do you think he's coming within the next 100 years? I personally think He is coming soon, maybe even within the next 30 to 40 years.
  21. Ohhhh! Got it!! So we're just judging based on American justice. Is there anything in the Cannon Law about the issue going on right now? How would they go about judging people? Do they actually consider those crimes (and covering up) actual crimes ?
  22. Ok, I shouldn't have said "Accomplice". He failed to report a crime, he concealed the crime. He, or anyone, could be charged with accessory after the fact, if he wasn't actually present during the commission of a crime, but took actions to conceal the crime or help the perpetrators avoid capture. So yes, he is guilty of a crime.
  23. I'm back, I just read some. Well... that would be wonderful if he could resign. It would probably break some followers' heart. but he was an accomplice to those evil acts then he's as guilty as those evil men. right?
  24. Really?!! I haven't read that! Gonna look it up right now!
  25. One of the most heartbreaking moments of my life was when a woman in her 70's whose husband had an affair decades ago spoke at a church group. She said "I have long since forgiven my husband for what he did to me. I'll never forgive myself for breaking up my family." Divorce is hardly a casual, low key sort of thing that you forget about in an year. There are real consequences that can last a life time. I have also forgiven my ex husband, long time ago. I divorced him anyway of course before truly forgiven him I think. BUT if I would have to choose all over again... I think... I'm 100% sure I would choose to divorce him again, because during that time I learned so much about myself, about the atonement, about single parenting, about friendship, about dating (I married him when I was 18 yo). I just learned so much. and the experiences it gave me, going through his cheating and the divorce made me the person, the mom, the woman and the wife I am today. I learned to also be closer to the Lord, and how to help others going through the same experiences I went through, and I'm thankful I experienced those things so I can comfort those that need comfort. I do not recommend divorce at all, because it will be one of the hardest things anyone can go through, but I cant lie and say you wont learn anything from it, because you WILL learn, and it will make you stronger. I think the lady MormonGator is referencing never healed completely... because when I first read the comment I felt she hasn't forgiven herself for choosing to divorce the husband, she didn't break their family, HE DID when he decided to sleep with someone else. She still has some healing to do as she looks at the breakage of her family as being her fault. Before my divorce I prayed and fasted many times, and went to the temple, the first couple of answers I got were: "Yes, but not yet". So I waited, and stayed until the answered changed. It's a very VERY personal matter, between you and the Lord. And we cant judge others for staying or for leaving.
