Iggy Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 I bad(I hate that so much I have to really concentrate on not slapping the stupid right out of the person who says it in front of me!)I spent 12 days with my step-daughter-in-law, whose every other short sentence was You Know. On the 11th day I finally responded to her You Knows with either Yes, I do know or I am sorry, I do not know - which ever was appropriate at the time. It slowed her down somewhat. note: my neice used to do that when she was in high school- she is now 36 years old and no longer is afflicted. Her parents cured her of it. Every time she said You Know they squirted her with one of those rocket water guns. !!! Unfortunately for me, there wasn't a store close enough to walk to look for a rocket water gun! There is a moral in my little story you know. Never, never spend more than 5 days with anyone. Quote
ruthiechan Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 I just typed first and foremost in an essay I'm writing for class. Am I doomed for failure? Ofttimes people say you know repeatedly when they are talking too fast or when they are trying to collect their thoughts or when they're nervous. It's another way of saying um or uh. What your step daughter in law needs is a speech class! My thing is I hear "okay?" all the time at the end of so many sentences. Teachers do it all the time! Even college professors! Quote
ruthiechan Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 to be completely honestAs opposed to what? Being incompletely honest? It's along the lines of, Honestly, I yadda yadda. As opposed to what? Dishonestly your yadda yadda? Quote

"mybad" I meant to spell it out(one) Notice I left space between my an bad, a quirk of mine, that may not be proper leak speak, or leak speak may not be( what the topic is)I'm not sure of what I meant, either:confused:is " oh well" one of them w'ere disscussing?also " omy " I use instead of " oh my" which may be just lazy on my part:DI use that one, at the end, or at the start of a sentance.*Foot note: My dear english teacher would frown(alot) if she seen how I mangle her lovely english language, she loved to teach.
