Kenny Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) I do not know of another church that encourages its members to bare their testimonies. There is nothing better to listen to than someone's personal story of how they first knew for a certainty that the church was true, that God lives, and Jesus is the Christ and Saviour of the world. That we have a prophet and apostles and every other office the church Jesus Christ organised two millennia ago. How uplifting and inspiring to hear ones personal challenges being overcome through living the principles taught in the scriptures, encouraged by our leaders and lived by its members. Nothing quiet has the same effect on me than that of a sincere whiteness of truth. So how did you first discover your testimony? Edited April 16, 2010 by Kenny Quote
Hemidakota Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) There are various levels of a true testimony. Receiving it by faith was early. Receiving an epiphany who I am came later. Through faith, through trials of fire, surrendering our will to GOD, our testimony grows until the perfect day [Read D&C 93] as knowledge. When that perfect day arrives, it is then we receive that epiphany from the Godhead. Edited April 16, 2010 by Hemidakota Quote

Traveler Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 My testimony has not been a single event. Although I do not remember ever thinking the G-d and his works are not possible there have been many time that I have come to better understanding concerning the things of G-d during extraordinary spiritual experiences. For me, my quest has been like peeling an onion. With each layer I become more sure, more knowledgeable and more spiritually aware. But with each layer I find another layer of challenge, questions and temptations as well as the additional blessings. The Traveler Quote
marts1 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 My first knowledge that God actually exists came while I was living in sin with a woman and a little high on drugs. Quote

ADoyle90815 Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 Some Protestant churches encourage people to share their testimonies, especially the Evangelical types. For them, it's usually discussing the moment they accepted Christ as their Savior, and their knowledge that God exists, and that Christ died for us, but has risen and will return at some point. Quote
candyprpl Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 None of the above! I received my witness in a very strange way before I joined the church. (read my profile) Quote
