Rameumptom. Why did you choose that name? I know in your sig it says "A Holy Stand or Podium, where I can pontificate to my heart's delight." however IIRC (don't read my scriptures as often i should) the rameupmton was used by the apostate church who all said the same thing, thought they were better then everyone else, lived the gospel only at church etc. (Not implying you think that way) Just wondering why you picked the "bad guys" improper item as a name? Seems like a Catholic picking "Baptism by immersion" as a name;)

Traveler. You use the word G-d or L-rd (with the o left out) as a sign of respect. But use the name Jesus without this edit. I understand it is historical but why is "misspelling" a title respectful but using the proper name ok? In todays world it is the opposite.

E.G "Hey Barraks on tv" rude

"Hey President Obama is on tv" proper

"Mr Smith, can Suzy come out and play" proper

"Jon, and Suzy come out to play" rude.

hordak...why do use a pic that looks like ficticious alien? :)

because it's the arch enemy of Shera?? i don't know. i just want to know why he picked the name of someone who snorts like a pig whenever he talks.

Hordak,

The term "Rameumptom" means holy stand. That the Zoramites used a rameumptom for their illicit religious affairs is a completely different matter.

It is on the same concept as the term "God" (or G-d) being used by some as a cuss word. While it isn't always used properly, it doesn't negate the proper use of the term.

I'm a child of the 80s and compare myself the the bad guy in a kids cartoon. "Bad" when compared to "ultra pure" heroes but my evil is pretty tame when compared with the rest world.

Wikipedia (the great source of unbiassed information) only describes the rameumptom in connection with that one episode in the BoM. Is there any record of anyone else using one?

(I mean something that was actually called a "rameumptom" and not something else.)

I wonder if King Benjamin's tower was referred to as a rameumptom. And the Zoramites took that and corrupted it. I may never know.

BTW, Jamie123, the rat from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has a name, Splinter, or Master Splinter if you prefer. Just FYI.

Yes, I have written on it many times over the years....

....

L-rd and G-d are Suzerain titles specific to the Kingdom of G-d. Jesus is a common name anglicized through Latin roots, the same name anglicized through the Greek is Joshua (a name shared by my son-in-law and next door neighbor). Those that maintained the ancient scriptures understood this difference and maintained it in the texts for thousands of years in the scriptures. In our modern day societies we have withdrawn from kingdoms patterned after the Kingdom of G-d and established inferior democracies and republics and a spectrum of other government systems of various values or lack of values. Thus we often, because of lack of experience, lack the protocols of respect that at one time was more part of human society.

But on the internet there is another problem. Because the internet is worldwide, I discovered in my travels that there are some in foreign countries that their only means of obtaining Christian and LDS information is on the internet. Many official internet sites are blocked so in some cases forums like this one are all that are available. Some of these students are “forbidden” or do not feel comfortable copying material where L-rd or G-d is spelled out – copying such material could create flags and get them into trouble or result in the site being blocked. From time to time I have received e-mails thanking me for this “spelling” consideration. For this reason I have felt it worth the effort.

PC, mankind has long wanted to know: where we came from, why we're here and where we're going. We actually have a missionary discussion that explains it all in about 45 minutes. Let me know, and I can have a couple come by and explain it all to you.
