MomInBabylon
I know I'm not the only one who watches "Trash TV." Maybe because I was never allowed to watch it when I lived at home and now that I'm all grown up with my own kid and mortgage payment I feel like I can? Haha! And I think in a way it makes me feel good about my "normal" life... The shows I am currently addicted to: The Bachelor/ Bachelorette Big Brother Teen Mom Come on, am I alone in this? annewandering
lol well I am not with you on this. I do not like those shows. Give me a good serial killer movie anytime!
Bini
I just don't find those kinds of shows enjoyable in any sense. The few times that I've watched them, I've wanted to take a hammer and throw it at everyone on TV :)
Bini
Oh! But I do have a guilty pleasure.. I love my Supernatural! And I can't wait to meet the Winchester brothers in person at SPNCON in October!
Wingnut
Ugh, the women in my ward will not shut up about the Bachelor/ette, and I can't stand it. Seriously, we'll hang out for a girls' night, and three hours later I'm bored and annoyed because all they've talked about is that show. Guest
I don't understand The Bachelorette in any way. Why would anyone want to make such a spectacle of themselves? I have been watching Beverly Hills Nannies. It's fascinating to me how very shallow a person's "worries" can be. That side lives in another dimension altogether. Vort
I know I'm not the only one who watches "Trash TV." And I think in a way it makes me feel good about my "normal" life... The shows I am currently addicted to:The Bachelor/ BacheloretteBig BrotherTeen MomCome on, am I alone in this? Those particular reality shows hold no interest for me, but I used to watch The Ultimate Fighter. That was my guilty pleasure. But it focused too much on "personality", and given that these fighters typically have all the scintillating personality of a pile of dog doo, it didn't make for great television. The fights were sometimes pretty good, but too much vile talk and "hijinks" and too little actual fighting sort of sucked the passion out of the show. I haven't watched it in two or three seasons now. In fact, I really don't watch any TV at all any more, unless I sit and watch something Sister Vort is watching.I am, however, watching Olympic judo on NBC's replay. The US lightweight man got judge's decisioned by his Korean adversary. Bummer. Kind of a boring match, but they can't all be barn burners. pam
I"m not into any of the shows the OP mentioned. As far as teen mom, why do I want to watch the fights of the mom and the dad in front of the baby? Give me Criminal Minds, CSI's, Law and Order or any other shows along this line and I'm happy. Oh and I do like pretty much any show on HGTV.
rameumptom
These are all just bodice ripper novels in a new format. They tug at people emotionally, yet give nothing of real value. It would be like having a diet of frosting. Nice and sweet and yummy, but your body will eventually die from lack of real nutrition. Our nation is dying from lack of real education, knowledge, intellectual and spiritual growth. We deserve to be handed our backsides on a platter by the Chinese and others. When we return to the bar of God, how are we going to answer the question: what did you do with your life? I watched slimy people on television fooling around or doing violent things, while eating bon-bons? Doesn't D&C 130 tell us that the amount of intelligence and knowledge we gain in the life will rise with us? Imagine the thousands of hours wasted on entertainment that we could have used learning a new talent. Okay. Enough of my rant. Go back to your regularly scheduled programming..... Echo2002
I hate "reality" TV, I wish it would go away. I watch stuff from Netflix.
Misshalfway
I'll admit to getting a little "high" off watching the "Housewives of NYC". I can't stomach it much anymore. But at the time, it was fun to watch women behave badly. I concluded that it was the female version of "Rambo". :) And I too have been invested in the outcome of the Bachelor/ette series. Again, I think I'm over it cuz I just can't stomach the stuff. And I'm now too invested in "Downton Abbey." :)
applepansy
The only shows in the OP I've watched are Bachelor/Bachelorette. The reason I watched the three seasons I watched was 1) a girl from Utah (Michelle Money) was on and I wanted to see how she represented Utah. I also liked her in Charley. 2) One of the destinations was Utah. They showcased Utah beautifully but the show itself was a disapppointment. 3) This last season there was a guy (Jef Holm) from Utah. The Bachelorette didn't get to meet his parents because they are on a mission yet she picked him at the end. I was curious how ABC would handle it. It was obvious Michelle and Jef were not living LDS standards or even if they self-indentified as LDS. It was nice to see both did have moral lines they refused to cross. I didn't watch every week for the episodes but watched it all together over a couple of naptimes (and I fell asleep a during a couple of episodes) I probably won't watch again. Its really a stupid way to find a wife/husband. I won't be watching again unless another "Mormon" is on. LOL And Batchelor Pad? OH MY HECK! The Bachelor rejects act totally dishonorable on that show. Blech! EDIT: Other that this I don't watch much TV. I like Eureka though Edited August 2, 2012 by applepansy
MomInBabylon
Meh, I guess we all have our different guilty pleasures. :) For me, the Bachelor/ette is fun to watch because of how NOT normal the dates and dating scene is. And like Eowyn said, to see how the "other half" lives. Teen Mom is like watching a train wreck. It's horrible, but you just can't look away! As far as wholesome television goes, my favorite right now is "Once Upon a Time" on ABC. In fact, almost everyone in my family watches it. IT's nice that there is a show on TV that we all can enjoy even if we live in different states.

Windseeker
Too each their own, I suppose for me I don't really enjoy some guy or girl having sex with mulitple girls\guys to figure out who he wants to be with, as fun. I don't see that kind of entertainment much different then porn. It might be more interesting if they all believed in being chaste before marriage but that's not the case. I suppose I choose to sin differently, I like Masterchef and Hells Kitchen. I'm a horrible cook. My favorite reality show of all time was Junk Yard Wars. Probably (again) because I suck when it comes to fixing cars. I've also watch Las Vegas JailHouse but it is truly a guilty pleasure as I don't really feel good after watching it. My younger brother who has been to Prison twice absolutely loves watching Lockup..go figure

Misshalfway
That Top Gear show is pretty funny. I just watched the one where they drove three cars through the jungles of South America, and three other cars through the desert. It was so entertaining. Windseeker
Top Gear sounds cool. It's on Netflix. I will have to check it out. I'm ending the 3rd season of Merlin and hoping that they put Season 4 on Netflix soon. I also started watching Eureka and enjoy it, but there seems to be a weird theme in the show (only on 3 episode) with married people who don't live together. MorningStar
I think I watched one episode of The Bachelor years ago and was repulsed by the idea of women fighting for one guy they didn't know, yet acting like it was such an honor to receive a rose when they got to stay another week. Barf. I have watched Hoarders on Netflix because nothing motivates me to clean like rotten pumpkin lady.
Guest
We do too. It's a show I can watch with my kids. When does that ever happen anymore?Everyday in my house. But yeah, my kids drew the line on Dancing with the Stars... it's the only show that's "my show" that they tolerate. They refuse to watch HGTV, so I rarely watch anything on it - like twice a year or so.Now, you gotta understand - for some insane reason, we always watch TV together, even if we have 3 TVs in the house. My husband watches his sports usually without me and sometimes without the kids. He's got one of the 3 TVs as his "sports" TV.
