prisonchaplain Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Do chat rooms run filters on particular words? I was at another site's chat room, talked about butter beer (Harry Potter fame), and suddenly was "banned" without warning. Quote
Vort Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 · Hidden Hidden Let that be a lesson to you filthy heathens. Never talk about anything stronger than root beer{{BANNED}}
Quin Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Tsk. Tsk. Naughty. Write "I will not talk about beer" 50 times with my pen, here. Or until you've learned your lesson. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted November 8, 2013 Author Report Posted November 8, 2013 Oh, I've learned my lesson alright...I'm still banned! No warning, no email...just the left foot of disfellowship. Wah! :::cough::: anyone got the juice to get me back in? Quote
pam Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I got banned from a other lds site because I used the word drug. I was talking about medications but I guess we weren't allowed to use the word drug. Quote
pam Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 There's another LDS site?Hard to believe huh? Quote
jerome1232 Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Wow, and some accuse this venue of being heavy handed on the moderation. Quote
pam Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Wow, and some accuse this venue of being heavy handed on the moderation. Now I think we must be slacking. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted November 8, 2013 Author Report Posted November 8, 2013 There's another LDS site?Maybe that's my answer! BTW, I promise that it was not lds.org... Quote
rameumptom Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Pam, had you kept me as moderator, I would have ensured the slackers and sinners were all kicked off. I would even kick myself off this site, because any site that would take me as a member is not a place any good person should be! Why, there would only be you, PC and Dravin left on the site, and I'm sure that would be very satisfying.... PC, clearly God only wants you infesting one Mormon site, so you do not contaminate too many Mormons before they can be inoculated. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted November 8, 2013 Author Report Posted November 8, 2013 Thanks Ram...I think. Quote
apexviper Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I saw someone on the ldschat site get a warning for saying "heck". Quote
beefche Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 I saw someone on the ldschat site get a warning for saying "heck".That's because they didn't put "oh my" before it. Quote
Bini Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 What other LDS sites are there??? I've been to LDS Chat and there are a few friendly folks in there but there are a couple regulars that are a bit rude. Unfortunately, the times that I've been in there, I have seen how said regulars are in cahoots with many of the Mods and get away with treating others unkindly. Quote
rameumptom Posted November 8, 2013 Report Posted November 8, 2013 Thanks Ram...I think. You are welcome. We try to be very accomodating here. Now, if you could stand over in that corner and try not to cough on me.... Quote

The mods tend to be 1-sides there. Quote

I double-checked the TOS, and it seems I should have at least been warned if I was doing something wrong. My guess is still that the word "beer," set off an automatic ban. It's just weird though...I wasn't really even interacting with any particular person...it's still in affect though. I guess it might be permanent. So...you now have as a mod one who has been banned from another LDS site. Just goes to show how progressive and accommodating LDS.net really is! Quote

PC, under the rules there it says that if you feel like you've been treatly unfairly you can contact the head moderator (gives an email address).M. Quote
prisonchaplain Posted November 9, 2013 Author Report Posted November 9, 2013 I missed that part--just sent in an inquiry. We'll see what comes of it. Hopefully we'll have a graceful ending--though lds.net might miss this new renegade image I'm bringing. :-) Quote

Hmmmm - it would appear that from what is being said - the the scriptures (standard works) would also be banned. The Traveler Quote

prisonchaplain Posted November 9, 2013 Author Report Posted November 9, 2013 Maybe i was banned for mispelling. I'm guessing "butterbeer" would have been fine. :-) Quote
