Per another conversation we had, this will really help out future generations when they're doing work for the dead.  <_<

Edit: Okay...upon actually reading the article, my comment isn't really valid.

What a strange idea though.

The "life starts at conception" wing is going to prepare for doomsday... killing one baby to give life to another.  Ugh.

The difference between this from other gene therapy is that the donor gene is an embryo fertilized specifically for harvest.

And you think the Boys from Brazil is sci fi... Hah... we'll have Hitler clones running around town pretty soon (j/k!).

I'm too stunned to even formulate an opinion.  I need some time to consider this...(and of course I will read all your thoughtful responses :) )

"In the Commons debate, Public Health Minister Jane Ellison told the House: 'This is a bold step for parliament to take, but it is a considered and informed step. And for the many families affected, this is light at the end of a very dark tunnel.'"

But as the old joke goes, when politicians see light at the end of the tunnel they usually borrow money to buy more tunnel.

Does this make the embryos trinitarian?

This is going to screw up tracing your family history genetically through the maternal line for some. Because they use mitochondrial DNA for that. (Sorry guy's you don't contribute Mitochondrial DNA to your children)

Guy's will still be able to trace the patriarchal line via their Y chromosome though. I don't think most people utilize DNA testing for tracing heritage though, so maybe probably minimal impact.

Meh.  Great great granddad hired both of his wife's sisters as housekeepers.  Records are kind of sketchy, but his first three kids were born in different months within a nine month span.  Nobody's quite sure which is from which sister.  That makes for some guesswork in the genealogy...though it's at least convenient that they were sisters, so their kids all have the same grandparents.
