Just wanted to "like" this again, and quoting it is the only way to do so.

Not entirely sure whether you think I am the troll, or Jesus as quoted.

Best wishes, 2RM.

Then why do you not care if I become a member of the Kingdom of God, or not?

It isn't so much about not caring, I suspect.  It's about not really believing in the sincerity of your intent.

Define "social injustice," please.

Indeed...  He as shown himself to be insincere and totally willing to twist whatever we say into how bad and evil we are.  The fact that he is doing it again in this thread is not new but simply a repeat of behavior we have come to expect.

It's OK, unixknight. I have not forgotten you, or your question. But I do not propose to answer it until such time as the climate of discussion on this thread is more congenial to rational debate, and disagreement is no longer perceived as a personal insult, to be responded to by way of bullying abuse. I have a lot of time for you people and your faith, but my patience is not unlimited.

Best wishes, 2RM.

This will occur once you stop twisting and distorting our words into lies.  You are the one that altered the climate of discussion.  You can alter it back.

hehe... anyone that thinks Mormon women are not heard... has not meet many Mormon women.

That is, literally, the story of my life.  My drinking, swearing, a-religious WWII vet father had been through two divorces.  So he decided to come up to Utah and find himself one of those submissive Mormon wimmin that wouldn't give him any crap.  He met my mom, and I was born.

Yeah, he learned pretty quick.

This might be the most arrogant thing I've ever read here. And that includes my own posts.

First off, don't act like you are doing a great favor to us by gracing us with your presence here.

Second, our patience is not unlimited either.

Third, saying "You people" is obnoxious and condescending, same with "your faith". Totally out of line.

I'm still a little stunned by it.

No one who has known me for more than five minutes would ever call me humble, but even I don't walk around acting like I'm saintlike and blessing people with my presence. This has become quite comical.

Particularly since it's an LDS page.  It's not like he's accommodating us on his page.

I never claimed to be nice. If I have any saving grace at all, it is simply an allegiance to reason, rather than rudeness, as the best method of converging on truth.

My wife has an Aunt who is Catholic she married into my wife's side of the family.  At one family gathering she was going off on how the LDS church was so surpressive of women.  I didn't even challenge her on the Catholic faith I simply said.  "You personally know tons of faithful and true Mormon women.  How many of them would you label suppressed, and afraid of speaking her mind to any and all?"  She thought for a bit and found one.  One woman who had gotten herself into an abusive relationship, and she was getting herself out, with the help of family an friends.  She probably knew at least 50 different people personally, yet she could only find 1 example to support her opinions, and that example was in the process of self correcting.  Needless to say she has not been so vocal about that point of view any more... (But she still has plenty to say on other points)

I know I spend my time going into Catholic/Jewish/Buddhist/Methodist pages, acting obnoxious and confrontational then I get act holier than thou when people finally have had enough. What, you don't do that  @Grunt?

I've always said that LDS are too nice. They need to two converts to lay the smack down on people who take advantage of their kindness and tolerance.

I hope you can understand why this response feels like another dodge.  No Internet forum thread has ever gone from more contentious to less contentious, so effectively it's like saying "When Hell freezes over."

I say that at my ward all the time.  After every lesson I get "that was such a great lesson".  I say "you have to say that, you're Mormon".  When they point out that I'm a Mormon too, I let them know I'm a convert that didn't inherit the nice gene, but I'm trying.    You're much further along than I am.

Yeah, um, in the 4+ years I've been in the church the niceness gene hasn't really sunk in yet.

Well, it's not meant to be a dodge. I just see no point in stating any point of view that is bound to be met with outright hostility, slurs on my character, and irrational invective. When you all decide to play nicely, I'll play nicely, too.

Meanwhile, I must say that when I asked in the OP if Mormons were 'just a club of like-minded, socially coherent cronies', I did not expect such an immediate, definitive and effective demonstration that that is precisely what you are, at least so far as this forum goes.

Now, I need to cool off a little. Maybe we will get to raise the tone of the debate, tomorrow. Or maybe not. Whatever, it's not my problem.

Best wishes, 2RM.
