Palerider reacted to Suzie in What to call your bishop or stake president when they are released?
My two previous Bishops are family friends and I always called them by their first name outside Church and in Church "Brother..." I call my present Bishop "Brother..." as well. No particular reason (in case someone thinks Suzie is just trying to be difficult lol). It just cames natural to me and he is okay with it. As a matter of fact, if he calls and leaves a message he says "Hi, I am brother...please give me a call whenever you get a chance".

Sounds like the Stake Leaders need to provide training on running an effective Ward Council

I am very careful about doing business with members....why....several are close friends .....makes me uneasy....unfortunately the way some members act on Sunday is not the way they behave the rest of the week.

I would say disagreements are a normal part of a relationship. However, the way people chooses to express those disagreements can or cannot be considered normal.

We always held ours to one hour.....I told everyone each time this meeting will go for one hour and if it goes longer it's because you talk too much .....2 hours or more is way to long

Elder Ballard has a great book titled.....Counciling with your Councils. He authored the book sometime back and has since come out with a updated version. Excellent book....not a big book and a good read.

We sure get trials of our faith thrown at us from time to time....we have to be tested to see how we will handle things...at that moment when you feel like you can't take anymore it's always good to ask for a blessing.

Jesus in prison.  My mission is to bring him in and coach his followers to share him everywhere ... both inside and when they get back out.

If I were giving a TR interview, and knew for whatever reason that your records showed 0 for tithing, I knew you were employed, and you said yes, I would ask a clarifying question about how you were paying. Once you told me you were paying direct, unless prompted by the spirit, that would be good enough for me. I see no problem with a clarifying question following a response, if there is information in the hands of the bishop, to cause concern about the answer.

My Dad wasn't active until the last 1-2 yrs of his life...he passed in 1992. He never missed work and always went to work when he was sick or even if he had back pain.

With it being Father's Day tomorrow, I thought it would be nice to list some positive attributes of our fathers.

My father died when I was six, going on seven years old.  I have very few memories of him.  But, I want to honor him.  One of my memories is of him swinging me high into the air.  I loved it.

Also, I know he had a strong testimony of the Gospel.  In 1956 he was ordained a Seventy by Spencer W. Kimball.

I wish I had more memories of him.  I miss his presence in my life.

Hmm. The hoverboard never much appealed to me as a concept. Now, a lightsaber...

Of course that's not the future...as it was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
