  1. I was wondering what that facebook meme was about.
  2. Now if only they'd ditch microsoft's DRM (or Microsoft would just finally license Linux desktops to use it) so I didn't have to jump through hoops to watch it on my Linux boxes... I look forward to the day when streaming anytime we like is how we watch all of our tv.
  3. I have had too many encounters with diamond backs to take any snake lightly, even gopher snakes have scared the crap out of me on occasion(when they are in dry grass they can make a rattle sometimes by shaking their tail and rustling the grass)
  4. If it makes you feel any better, I think your nuts too! Honestly, I just don't think that's what perfect means in this context, I believe he was perfect in that he didn't sin. To think that his toast came out golden brown every time is odd to me and not required for him to be our saviour.
  5. I for one can't fathom why boobies and buttholes are anymore "embarrasing" than breasts and anuses. I guess technical words make some people feel all grown up and somehow sanitizes the meaning of the word? It's lost on me.
  6. I'm going to take a whack at the guessing game and say it was this blue stuff that the disagreement was with.
  7. I think you're just mad about that snare. I also agree that the bassist didn't have a huge impact on the band, they just did something new with St. Anger (about when Newsted left) and their core fanbase didn't like it. I rather liked Newsted - King of the Underdogs. I at least, look forward to a full album release by them. I like it when bands change it up, listening to the same old thing every album get's old. For example, I don't even recognize Linkin Park anymore.
  8. I gotta say the joke is lost on me, perhaps you meant when Cliff died? Newstead was there when Metallica was changing their sound.
  9. Welcome~!
  10. Jason Newsted formerly of Metallica has formed his own band, fittingly called Newsted. I know that, like me, all of you here enjoy Thrash Metal, and I didn't want you to go unaware of this new (more new mixed with old?) sound as I was. With no further ado, here it is. In case you, by chance, do not enjoy bleeding eardrums, well here's some piano guys instead. I know, there's only one piano guy, and a violin girl, and a cello guy, but hey, she's just visiting and I'm sure cello guy can play piano.
  11. Unless you live in California, then it's status quo.
  12. It was more of a reaction to the 60's counterculture, which wore their hair long and beards as a symbol of freedom and rebellion. The church didn't want to be associated with that image. Here's a neat little quote from Elder Dallin H. Oaks: "Our rules against beards and long hair are contemporary and pragmatic, they are responsive to conditions and attitudes in our own society at this particular point in time … [and] are subject to change. "I would be surprised, if they were not changed at some time in the future."
  13. All at once, dunked in milk until soggy. Any other way is barbaric and profane at best.
  14. I have to say, had I not participated on these forums, I would have never known that a woman hasn't prayed in conference before and wouldn't have taken much note when a woman did pray in conference.
  15. Some Polynesian cultures, Somoan comes to mind right off the bat. There are many cultures that have some sort of tattooing as an integral part of their culture. It would be like asking Texan's to go vegan. (That's a joke, har har har)
  16. It is one of those culture things isn't it. I understand concessions are made for cultures where tattoo's are a part of that culture. I suppose it's contextual whether it's a sin or not. For one who is baptized and a part of western culture I would say it is, however for one who is not baptized, or even other cultures, I'm not so sure.
  17. I don't think it's iffy at all, you have to repent of all your sins. Repentance means that you are sorry for what you did. It means you will stop doing it (don't go out and get new tattoos) it means you try and rectify the sin if possible (tattoos are permanent, the process to remove them isn't perfect and is expensive, it's understandable if you can't do that), it means you beg the lord for forgiveness for the sin. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't have to ask for forgiveness for something. as a side note: Baptism washes away your sins and you are born again, something that was done before you covenanted with the lord to not do it would be forgiven at baptism in the case of a convert
  18. Why are you not counting the dog and three cats as among your wives, are they somehow, lesser than your human ones? OUTRAGE, I'm calling PETA right now!!!!!!!!
  19. I can imagine certain professors at my school asking me to do the same thing, I can say I'd take it differently from a professor who I know shares my faith versus one who I know doesn't. I can imagine my blood pressure firing through the roof if this was a lesson in one of my classes and I'm a fairly long fused guy. My uninformed opinion, the professor failed at conflict resolution in a situation that he jumped into knowing he'd need it.
  20. Slippery-Slopes aren't necessarily fallacies. If you can logically demonstrate that A leads to B which leads to C which leads to D, and then to E then your slippery slope from A to E is logically valid, and not a fallacy. The problem is when people claim A leads to E without logically demonstrating the steps. The problem with that statement is these are private companies, your doing your calisthenics under the watchful eye of your corporate slaveholder. Unless someone knows of a company that actually penalizes / rewards you based on the results of such tests however, it seems to be more data gathering than anything else.
  21. Hmmm, my work (Target) does something similar, except it's voluntary and contributes money towards a HSA or HRA account instead of penalizing you for not doing it.
  22. Out of curiosity pam, do you have a supporting link?
  23. In my non-expert opinion yes, you are reading correctly.
  24. 2 miles per hour under? No. I can barely discern 2 miles per hour difference on my speedometer. I would review state laws and challenge the ticket personally. Edit: The left lane is not for passing only, it's for faster traffic. Rubbing up against the speed limit, I would consider legally faster traffic, although in reality I'd be wondering why anyone is only going the speed limit in the left lane.
  25. I love that book! For me it's The Dragon Reborn, book 3 of the Wheel of Time. The series seems to be a love or hate type of thing. I'm currently re-reading it (the series) before I read the last book, A Memory of Light, book 14.
