  1. I love hot peppers, but being the hot pepper connoisseur that I am it has to be a hot pepper with a good flavor to it. Don't tell me they all just taste spicy hot, Cayenne, Hot paprika, Tabasco, Jalapeno generally have a good flavor; Chinese red pepper, Tepin, Serrano, Santaka, Pasilla, and Fresno pepper are okay. I don't like the flavor of Habanero, Use a different hot pepper, like Ghost Chill instead if you are looking for pure heat. I'd rather mild food with a good pepper seasoning than something that's just hot. The best hot wings use a Cayenne garlic hot sauce IMO. It depends on how much hot stuff i've been eating recently for how hot I like it. I spent some time camping eating generally bland food for an extended period of time and couldn't even handle hot Cheetos when I got back. But generally I like my food pretty hot.
  2. I've never seen nor done the Scout Sunday, and have been discouraged from doing so. Personally i'm okay with it, I don't have a problem with military personal wearing their uniforms to Church, nor the poor investigator wearing jeans and a plaid button up shirt. And lets face it, sometimes the official scout uniform will be the best some scouts have for the dress your best for Sunday, Sunday best. (If they even have more than a scout shirt) I mean have you seen the prices those uniforms can be! It's probably not appropriate for Blessing and Passing the Sacrament. In my mind, at the very least because it would be an obvious distraction, and cause contention. My younger brother once wore an older style dress jacket (not even flashy) while blessing the sacrament before and he got scolded from a few of the sisters for not dressing appropriately.
  3. You forgot Omnipresent and Omnipotent and Omnibenevolent.
  4. While this very well may be true for Christ, There is additional scripture that indicate the second coming will be sudden, like as to a thief in the night. A thief isn't going to let you know when they are going to break in. These scriptures were written for the believers, and while we may receive warnings and see the signs that it is drawing near, I don't think our knowledge of the time will get much more solid than that. If that is how you understand informed to be, such as being warned of the signs then I agree with you. For reference I refer to here: https://www.lds.org/scriptures/tg/day-of-the-lord?lang=eng
  5. Same here, I have also learned that only the father knows. I was a bit surprised at the question and the answers.
  6. Mark 13: 32 Matt 24:36 D&C 49:7 The Joseph Smith Matthew renders the verse as thus A strictly literal rendering of these verses is that only the Father knows. There is room to allow for Christ to know, if in the context he is using the title of the father while addressing us. (which he appears to do throughout much of the old testament.
  7. You're welcome.
  8. Rather than unfriend, there is a setting to determine how often you seen status updates. I just turn them off if I find their content distasteful.
  9. I've read some of his stuff.
  10. tl;dr = to long didn't read
  11. Depends on where you are at. Here's some data. What do you think? My personal thoughts are if you are the type to be affected by following the expectations of others, you will feel pressure from the majority. If not you won't. I personally haven't been pressured to vote one way or another in a religious setting.
  12. It has the same meaning as the Danish word "ja" and is an indicator of agreement. yeah! https://translate.google.com/#de/en/ja You like puns, right?
  13. I surely hope it's not going to be a group sacrifice!

  19. Abraham Lincoln....try try try try try.....try try...again
  20. To be or not to be that is a similar question as yes or no. How to answer this I do not know. To be or not to be?
  21. Something that i've noticed is that the young womens awards ceremony, they don't invite the brethren.(at least in my ward) I think that would be a BIG step in helping recognize the accomplishments of the young women. The other thing is that Eagle scouts are well recognized outside the church, you'll have trouble competing with that regardless of what you do. In my ward we have a hard enough time getting people to show up to an Eagle court of honor, let alone a regular one. So at least where i'm at it's a problem on both sides. Encouraging members of both genders to participate in recognizing youth accomplishments would be nice.
  22. I have no idea. The best that I think I can come up with is that discrimination on the basis of superficial things, unchangeable, or situations from which you were born into. e.g. skin color should not be discriminated against. However there are exceptions to a general rule, such as being born poor and and not being able to afford things. Generally discrimination shouldn't cause harm to another human being. Though prison, fines, and even the death penalty could potentially be seen as causing harm. (there is a reason we discriminate against many legally defined criminal acts) Discrimination should largely be based on how an individual acts (say stealing). It's perfectly acceptable for people to avoid jerks/people they don't get along with. There is still the problem with this though, e.g. mental disorders, is it really alright to discriminate against them (probably not, though if for example you aren't capable of being say a chemist you shouldn't be one) I find most arguments pro-discrimination (e.g. required education before entering college) generally have some merit. Don't discriminate against {insert here}, also generally have some merit. The way discrimination is applied in modern society seem completely arbitrary to me.
  23. I think this is a difficult topic, intellectually for me. I can only approach it with what I feel and how I believe. Intellectually this is a mess to argue, because the consequences of tolerance and the consequences of exclusion both can have profound impacts negatively. Some discrimination is good, some is bad, if there is a line to be drawn by currently accepted standards it's hazy or a zig zag.
  24. fyi, I expected someone to come along and post something like this. Not surprised it was TFP. You are right. When talking to others who don't believe in God it is still good to find some common ground, to defend your beliefs, and as an intellectual exercise in better trying to know the mind and will of God.
