BJ64 got a reaction from Sunday21 in Do you have a theory on 2Ne 10:2?
Our stake president is also a full time seminary teacher. He has taught that if the children are sealed to the parents and the parents live worthily that sealing will remain in effect and through some means all the children will be saved with them.
I believe there is wording in the sealing ceremonies that could imply such a thing. The sealing of parents is dependent on their worthiness but the sealing of children is not if I’m remembering correctly. However I don’t want to quote those things here.

I, for one, appreciate the compliment. "Normal" can be quite uninteresting and stagnating at times.

I think that the church’s stance in Brigham Young is the same as with another previous prophet. What they have said is true unless it doesn’t agree with current church policy in which case we can forget what they said.

”And all I can say to that is that it is time disbelieving people repented and got in line and believed in a living, modern prophet. Forget everything that I have said, or what President Brigham Young or President George Q. Cannon or whomsoever has said in days past that is contrary to the present revelation. We spoke with a limited understanding and without the light and knowledge that now has come into the world.”

I will speculate that one is born of the mother, and begotten by the father, in a general sense of the words.  So I think the phrase "born and begotten" means by a mother and father.  In the case of Jesus he was born of Mary, begotten by God the Father.

The answer in this link implies that Jesus is the only son of God and that everyone else is an adopted son of God. Which is not correct and it also implies that only Jesus inherited God’s divine nature which is also incorrect.
From the site. This is what I disagree with.
“John was primarily concerned with demonstrating that Jesus is the Son of God (John 20:31), and he uses monogenes to highlight Jesus as uniquely God's Son—sharing the same divine nature as God—as opposed to believers who are God's sons and daughters by adoption (Ephesians 1:5). Jesus is God’s “one and only” Son.”
Even the young women’s theme speaks of our divine nature.
This response was written by someone who does not believe that we are literal children of God with the capability of becoming like Him and Jesus Christ.

The evolutionists claim this video, which was just the coolest thing I discovered the entire first three months of 2018.  But I figure the creationists could claim it as their own, if they could just allow themselves to stop believing that scientific ignorance is some sort of Christian virtue.

We are all formed from the dust of the earth. Every cell in our body is of the elements of the earth be that carbon, minerals, water etc. We are literally of the dust of the earth and our body will return to dust upon decomposition.

And I want to make sure something is understood - I was a minor player who witnessed a small part of the overall process.  Plus, my memory of such things is notoriously bad, to the point that I am certain I am missing things and misremembering other things.  So it's entirely possible the bishop did indeed share "your son is repenting" details with the parents, and I just wasn't there to see it, or forgot it.
I do pretty clearly remember being glad I wasn't bishop and this case wasn't my call.

Understandable.  As I watched this go by, and watched the Bishop and counselors agonize about how much or how little to share with the parents, I was struck by how much I didn't envy them.

    Me.  I call foul.
A bishop who is okay with a child going through the repentance process without the knowledge of their parents is usurping the Presiding Priesthood Authority over my children - which is held by their father.

I don’t believe that all of the same species that were on the earth at the time of Adam exist now and likewise not all that we have now existed then. I can’t name an example but I would imagine that new species emerge from time to time and of course species have gone extinct.
I don't even try to make science and religion fit together but if I tried I’d have a hard time figuring out where species that existed before the time of Adam fit in. Not to mention early human like beings.

I believe in evolution pretty much except for the evolution of man. I also believe in dinosaurs et al.
I have seen evolution of species in my lifetime selective breeding of plants and animals has caused evolution that we can see.

BJ64 reacted to Overwatch in Is it time to move to gospel doctrine
Just remember Gospel Doctrine rotates back to the same thing every 4 years. So extended learning is on your own. At this time it is crucial to remember that even if you discover something that is not plainly listed in canon  doctrine you pretty much have to keep it to yourself. Share it at your own risk as scripture fiends will tear you apart and judge since they, being so righteous, haven't been revealed it, it must be false.  I tell you this so that you don't disregard revelation from the Lord that he gives to you. Also remember the Prophets lead and if you got the information they most likely have already received it. Prophets divulge information as the masses are ready to receive it and if it is pertinent to salvation; we already have the base knowledge to receive exaltation (extending learning is for the happiness of the individual and personal knowledge collection)
Even though our prophets are imperfect and sometimes do stupid things, it is our responsibility to honor the order God gives to the Church. It is our "chain of command". Obviously if any servants do anything contrary to the gospel they are not above the Law of the land or church disciplinary system. NEVER be afraid to question but remember to be civil and understanding. Even though we have holy men I have found that most if not all mortal men RIGHT NOW don't have all the answers. There will be some questions, that you have, that will never be answered in this life.
Congratulations on moving forward with your ecclesiastical studies.

Gravity is also a theory - so are numbers.  Something being a theory does not mean that it has not been proven.  Evolution has been proven - but there are theories that attempt to apply evolution as a possible explanation of biological events that have no other viable explanation.  By the vary nature of a virus attacking a living organism we know that genetics can be changed - which is the definition of organic evolution and is currently a primary tool and method of genetic engineering.  To say there is no organic evolution is a kin to claiming mankind really has not discovered fire yet - let alone cooked meals with it.

To get back to the original question. I don’t see the church moving anywhere in regards to gay marriage. It will always be a sin and those entering gay marriage or living a gay lifestyle will not be part of the church. However I think the church will continue to reach out to them as much as possible to bring them back to the fold but only on the terms of the Church. Not on the terms of the LBGT agenda.

My wife and I discussed this topic and decided that past sins that are repented of are in the past and do not need to be discussed with your spouse.
There are sins I have repented of since marriage (not adultery or anything like it) that I would not tell my wife about.
