No. Supporters of Hamas are driven by the awful conditions they have to live in. I fully, completely understand their complaints. Until they go around murdering people.

And I get your points 100%. I never served so I have no right whatsoever to say this. But war is horrific. @Vort was exactly right when he said Satan and his minions rejoice when we kill one another.

You can say the same thing about Hamas. I swing from “swords to plowshares I love peace” to “right wing warmonger” when Hamas beheads innocent people and drags them through the street.

There was a bishop in my former ward who was a former democratic congressmen. He was sort of a “moderate democrat” but without question the kindest and most Spirit filled man I ever met.

Lol! On a more serious note, if someone has concerns about a church and you say this to them, you basically opened the door for them to leave!

There are places even in Florida where I think it’s a shaky idea. People never really grasp how rural we are down here.

I totally agree with you. It IS possible to drive across the country in a totally electric car (I’m not saying it’s a good idea. It’s not) but it requires a great deal more planning.

Mine is- but I think they also have a fully electric version too.

My sympathies here are with two people: the leadership of the church and the liberal/moderate/agnostic on politics in the pews who just want to feel the spirit, go to the temple and not have their beliefs or voting actions questioned. The church leadership-bishops, stake president-(I am convinced of this) probably just sit there exasperated and say “Can’t we all just get along?!” It puzzles me that LDS/Christians ask why their church is struggling in attendance and then insist on making divisions, playing the True Scotsman card, blaming “liberals”…you don’t need to be a communist to see how silly it is. If they do this to those groups and look for reasons to exclude people, they’ll do it to me too eventually. Even if I agree with them on everything and look the same!!!

Welcome. I think we want the same thing (Christianity and religious faith in general to grow) but differ on how to achieve it. People of all stripes seek peace in the church. I’m guaranteeing you that they’ll say or think “If they look for reasons to exclude protestant mormons or liberal christians, they’ll look for reasons to exclude me too, even if I agree with them. So I’ll go play golf on Sunday instead of dealing with it. I get enough drama at work.” Heartbreaking

The part I’m not sure you are getting @prisonchaplain is two fold. One, I want Christianity to grow. Two, I’m not advocating a change in teaching. What I’m saying, and what I’m 100% correct about, is that religious belief is (sadly) in a free fall now and we’re still focused on creating more division in the ranks. It’s actually incredibly sad to me. I feel like this house is on fire and instead of calling the fire department Mom and Dad are sitting on the couch arguing about which cousins they are going invite to Thanksgiving.

couldn't agree more. Ironically that’s why I think arguments about “protestant mormons” are so damaging. Someone looking at the faith with fresh eyes is going to see discussions like this and say “Nah, I can get drama and arguments at work, home, etc. I don’t need this in my religious life.” And move on. You might think it doesn’t happen, but I’m assuring you it does.
