Here is my update on my progress from January 2014 until now:

    4,201 pushups
    5,227 leg lifts
    1,416 curls since April 1st 2014

I looked in the mirror the other day and liked the progress I have made.  May I encourage all to forget the past if you are not doing well and start now to focus on the future for better health.

I exercise for one and  a half hours at physical therapy 3 times a week. It's a full body workout with the last 15 minutes having the TENS unit on my knee with ice pack and on my back with heat pack. Once I am done with PT I will continue with my exercise plan.

I happened to succeed with my goal for 2014. I wanted to hex-bar deadlift 2 1/2 times my bodyweight which I did on Dec 11th lifting 400 lbs at a body-weight of 160 lbs. My intent sharing this being to hopefully showcase that it (fitness goals) can be done and possibly inspire others, I'm aware it may come off as bragging - I am pleased with myself though. Hopefully 2015 is a great year for the rest of you as well :)

The word I would chose for 2015 is awareness, in the meaning of being aware or conscious of God, or awake to Him. To find back to that spiritual status of faith, that position of empathy and hope, that stops me drifting away and would enable me again to strengthen my trust  in Him and his presence.

I want to see four major things happen:

    1) A complete repeal of the Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamacare)

    2) Major slashes in the Federal budget to bring it to levels where the National Deficit is increasing by feet rather than by miles

    3) Major tax cuts to boost the economy
    4) The discontinuation of the National Security Agency spying on the American public

There will need to be 66 votes in the Senate to repeal Obama's veto which he will certainly do. I do not expect anything to happen in two years until his term is over. At least Obama will likely be very limited in his agenda for the rest of his term.  Everything he seems to want is moving away from capitalism.

I like what President Abraham Lincoln said.  "G-d must love poor people because he sure made a lot of them.”

Personally I have never liked the word fair because I believe it is misleading.  I believe the proper question would be just.  If we make broad judgments without understanding or considering the causes; then by definition we are pre judging or more commonly known as prejudice.  Prejudice is not justice.  We can no more justly condemn those that have wealth than we can justly condemn those that do not have wealth.

One last point – the amount an individual has – has nothing to do with how kind compassionate or helpful they are.  In scripture it is the widow that was willing to give of what she had that made her gift great.  I can understand the idea that the wealthy should be more giving than the poor.  But at the same time – to expect the wealthy to give without expecting the poor to give would be wrong.  If we are all equal in the sight of G-d then that would mean that G-d expects all to give of whatever it is that we have.  Those that believe money is the only asset or measure of wealth a person can – they are of all men the most foolish.

What makes me sad about asking those at church to give is realizing the greatest giving will take place by those with the least to give.  I believe this is a sad fact of life.  Anytime we expect giving to be done; it will be on the back of the poor - not the rich simply because the rich can bare it more.  We should be very careful when we ask for such things – especially realizing that when we ask for ourselves often those that give are just as or more needy than we are.

I see potential red flags with the bolded part.  Make how?  Rob/steal from those you think have more to give to those you think have less?  Criminalize the successful people??? Tax them into poverty because they did well?

The only real way I see this working is if the people choose to give it up.  Any other method comes up against the Rights to Life, Liberty and Property.

Let me put this another way...  2ndRate you are clearly from a 1st world country..  You have access to the internet and the time and energy to discuss highbrow questions.  Therefore it is safe to assume that you live like a king compared to your brothers and sisters in Africa or the Philippians or just about any other third world nation.  So being wealthy yourself answer the question of how you would like to make the World a better place.  How would you like to have your wealth and property taken from you to support the poor and needy?  Will you give it up voluntarily?  Do you want to be taxed so much your lifestyle degrades to third world status?  Do you want to be thrown in jail?  What is the method if redistrubition you want used against you?

If your answer is any form of leave me alone and don't touch my stuff then you aren't motived by social justice.  You are more likely motived by envy, greed, or jealously.  You want someone to give you a bigger piece of the financial pie but you aren't willing to share yours.  If this is true then you need to deal with your own hypocrisy rather then discuss social reform.

This makes me glad I did not join the military.  I think this is an abuse of our troops.  I heard these troops are getting a mere four hours of training on the ebola virus.  This is not adequate.  Anyone that is in these hot zones should be quarantined for 35 days before being allowed to return to the United States or any of its bases.

Still_Small_Voice reacted to pam in What does Moses 6:64-65 mean?
God baptized Adam.  He didn't need any help.  He didn't need to physically perform the ordinance, he performed it spiritually by the power of the priesthood, having the Spirit carry him down into the water.  Adam was thus baptized by God himself.  We should not be too surprised.  Some Old Testament prophets received the priesthood the same way. The Prophet Joseph recorded they "were ordained by God himself." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 181)

Still_Small_Voice reacted to SpiritDragon in Changes in Doctrine and Covenants 7
I'm no expert by any stretch.
My understanding is that the first presidency of the church oversaw the process of compiling revelations into the doctrine and covenants. Many of these were already found in the book of commandments which had been printed in small quantities two years previously due to the destruction of the printing press being used.
During this process the prophet felt inspired to make changes to some of the revelations to ensure that they were more easily understood by the general public.
I actually see merit to this and can accept it as valid for the following reason; the original revelations were specifically for certain individuals to help with specific challenges, be they personal, or pertaining to church administration and so forth. The precise wording given originally may well have been the best wording (or at least adequate) to help these individuals get the message they needed at the time. Upon the time of compiling the revelations into a volume for mass distribution it is logical that the Lord knew that certain points would need greater clarification and/or emphasis to convey meaning to a broad spectrum of people as opposed to the original recipient. This doesn't make the Lord a "changeable God," but it does make Him understanding of the needs of His people.
On a cynical or faithless note it does appear to be convenient for the prophet to be allowed to make changes as he saw fit under the guise of "revelation," but also extremely smart of him to put himself in that position in the first place.
Ultimately the question will come back down to whether or not JS is/was a prophet. If so than the changes are acceptable and sanctioned by the Lord. If not than both versions are fraud and it doesn't matter that changes were made.
I understand how the changes can be troubling. I still believe. Through the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things, I wish you the best and pray you will get the answers you need.

Changes have never troubled me. They fall under my understanding of continuing revelation and within the scope of the church being ultimately led by the Lord. Either the Lord leads the church or He doesn't. If he does, changes to scripture are part of it. Line upon line, etc...

It is a matter of curiosity. But not a matter of concern. It is the words of the Lord that matter, not the words of John. Maybe Joseph added to it. If so, I am confident that it was the Lord's will and that it is the Lord's words. I agree it would be of interest to know, but beyond that...'sall good.

In light of the "welcome to America" attitude on the southern border, it is particularly disgusting. I have respect for law enforcement and know many good police officers, but it seems like the various agencies are becoming more and more para military and less than concerned about the citizens they serve. Local law enforcement included...sadly.

The LORD wants all to follow Him.  He called Matthew, a Roman tax collector, to follow Him and be one of His Apostles.  Rather than stoning an adulteress woman, Jesus told her to: "Go and sin no more."  The Prophet Joseph Smith wrote: "And the woman glorified God from that hour, and believed on his name." (See the Inspired Version of the Bible, chapter 8, verse 11.)
