Hi Jonboy..when I said 'You stated' I meant that those were some of the words used in your post, I do understand that it was Joseph Smith who 1st announced this piece of doctrine to the LDS church members. Yes, it was somebody else on the forum who stated that when LDS referred to God having been mortal, they were actually meaning that he became mortal when Jesus was born as a mortal..if anyone else can explain this to me, if I've misinterpreted it, then please do so. I was always led to believe the explanation that you gave, that God the Father had been mortal then exalted to his current state as God..not the above explanation. My question still stands regarding heavenly mother however, it is supposed that she was a mortal too, who God the Father met during his mortality, who then, like himself, was exalted and so became the mother of us all? I suppose if that is the case, it begs the question of who gave birth to all the other mortals that were around when she and God the Father were mortals?

Being a vegetarian, most restaurants don't have much choice for me...I have visited some good Veggie restaurants too though, that have a large selection of goodies. I love pasta and white wine/mushroom sauce..anything that tastes like a chicken, ie. Quorn pieces/fillets, and cheese dishes..I have got so fed up of being offered Meditteranean Veg dishes, in tomato sauce! Yuk!! I hate peppers, courgettes and aubergines!! I cooked a buffet (of frozen foods, lol!) yesterday, for my small family and 2 missionaries, so I chose a selection of Oriental Fish dishes, Indian snacks, mini pizzas and typical English stuff like pork pies and sweet stuff...the missionaries seemed to enjoy the mini pizzas and BBQ chicken drumsticks the most...it was amazing talking about what foodstuffs we have here that aren't available in the USA, or that are called different names altogether..for instance, we drink fruit cordial mixed with water, and the American missionary said they don't have cordials in the USA, also custard was called something else, I think...we also got round to the discussion of the USA's lack of Boxing Day, Christmas Crackers and other stuff too...amazing!! :)

Here is where non LDS are confused regarding LDS doctrine of the nature of God. You state here that God was once a man and went thru his mortal experience as we are doing, and that he married and fathered our spirits in Heaven... I have heard God's mortality explained by LDS on this forum as being the time when Jesus took on the mortal frame...so that would be after the time that God fathered His and all of our spirits.. So how could God have been mortal and then died, married a wife and fathered all of us, including Jesus, before he became mortal as Jesus? This is very confusing...Does that also infer that our heavenly mother was a mortal before she married God and conceived our spirits?

LOL! Thanks for putting it all into perspective!! :)

Winnie, I too am sorry to hear of your mother's passing, and commend you for having the strength to share this with the members of this site. I'm sure you know that her suffering has finally ended, and that she will be happy now..I hope that you will find the strength to get through the next week or so, and that your family life will be less troubled soon.

Hi Rameumptom! I'm really envious of all the reading that you and Stuart have done..I love books, and love collecting them, but it's a different story of my completing reading my massive collections! lol. One day I may follow the links you've both provided and become a little more savvy of the Ancient Scripts! Thanks for supplying them :)

I do like the Word of Wisdom suggestions...they also were very practical at the time they were issued..ie. only using meat sparingly, eg. in the winter time when it could be cooled more, I have had to reduce my tea/coffee intake over the last year or so because the caffeine was making my heart race, I do have Atrial Fibrilation which is the main cause of it, but the caffeine and alcohol in my drinks were adding to it.

I attended a Ward Conference recently. Members of the Stake as well as local members attended and all 3 Sunday meetings were held together in the main chapel..for Adults...Primary still took place in its own room. We didn't have food afterwards Siouxz, I think 'brill' is short for Brilliant! in the uk.

Hi Rebky! I hope you enjoy this site too, it seems likely that 'Heatherchat' may have been a very early version of this site, and LDSTalk, as the owner of this site is called Heather! :)

The only problem here is that it only quotes what the other poster has said, it doesn't quote whatever that person had quoted and is replying to.

Thanks Dr. Steuss -
Lots of water, fruit, honey and lemon drinks, paracetamol..I tuck myself up in bed with all of the above, and sleep as long as I can...I always have a nasal spray (Beconase) because I have trouble with a blocked nose/sinuses all year anyway, and I use decongestant medicine too if I'm too stuffy.

Thanks for clarifying that for me a-train..obviously the 'shared' government that I envisage would not be tyrants advocating robbery, slaverly and bloodshed on the planet..the replacement government would need to consist of humanitarians who value the earth and everyone that lives in it equally..all land would be one, all oil and other sources of wealth would be shared by all, all the foodstocks would be shared by all, there would be no need for poverty to exist in current 3rd world countries.. Unfortunately, I know that this is a mere pipedream, because mankind in general is too selfish to think about the rest of the world instead of just about their own country and its 'friendly' neighbours...

I guess I'm a fan of Globalisation... 'In the beginning there was the land, and the land belonged to everyone, Then one day, some bullying men got greedy and said 'this land belongs only to us..not to you across the sea' and so began the battles and wars that began to destroy the land and its people.. Isn't it time we gave the land back to ALL the people of the world...with one shared government, one shared currency, and no more wars and slavery..?'
