Heather Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Smoking pot or being judgmental? Quote
Guest mysticmorini Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 that really depends on the circumstances, a gentile who smokes pot is probably under less condemnation than a saint who is judgmental and a saint who smokes pot is definitely under more condemnation than a gentile who is judgmental. that being said these are the sorts of questions the pharacies asked christ. its important to recognized your own sins and work to improve, the worst sin is the one you struggle most with. NeuroTypical Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I guess I'd have to know how you determine the severity of sin in the first place. What makes a sin worse or better than another sin in the first place? Quote
Justice Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Being judgmental. Smoking pot is against the laws of the land and by doing so you run a high risk of becoming addicted, both of which will bring about consequences. But, being judgmental is from the heart, and poison to the soul. Judge not that ye be not judged. I think a person is in danger of a righteous judgement if they are judgmental of others. Quote
Guest Godless Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Smoking pot is against the laws of the land and by doing so you run a high risk of becoming addicted, both of which will bring about consequences.Actually, it's one of the least addictive drugs out there. But yes, breaking the law is bad. Though IMO, being judgmental is worse in this case because it causes far more harm.mnn727 recently posted a very good poem on this subject in another thread. jadams_4040 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Smoking pot or being judgmental? Thats really a "depends on" question; And i think both are going to he** offenses?. Sounds to me as you have a reason for asking. Quote
hordak Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Judgmental. It hurts others and comes from within Edited February 2, 2010 by hordak Quote
pam Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I say judgmental. The hurt and pain you can inflict on someone else by being so could have long lasting effects. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 So, when I look up judgmental in the dictionary, I see: 1. involving the use or exercise of judgment. 2. tending to make moral judgments We're explicitly commanded to judge righteous judgement throughout the scriptures. There is righteous judgmental and unrighteous judgmental. Quote
sleepless3977 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 pot for medicinal purposes? i refused although the Dr's wanted me to go on it for pain management where does that fit in? Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I would say being judgemental is worse, it can often be a case of pots and kettles. Quote
gabelpa Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 As a wise man I once knew saidSin is sin, and any sin will keep you out of Heavenly Father's presence. Quote

ryanh Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 With all the various factors, possibilities, and circumstances, I am VERY glad I will never have to make those determinations. It's best to leave these minutia to The Judge who knows and understands all. Quote
MarginOfError Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Being judgmental--When you're high, it's pretty hard to care or focus enough to be judgmental. But honestly, it doesn't matter. Both are wrong and so neither should be pursued. Quote
Elgama Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 apparently its not just pain someone who is blind will see better Anyway I think it depends on your understanding at the time, and how much hurt you cause Someone who feels judegmental and keeps it to themselves so as not to hurt anyone, will be under less condemnation than someone who is so stoned they neglect their childre Quote
Blackmarch Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Smoking pot or being judgmental?it would depend.Either could be worse depending on the individual.. or perhaps a person has a problem with both. Quote

Guest Alana Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Being judgmental. There are members with temple recommends that smoke pot. I kid you not. Pot is legal in my county (won't get into if it's legal on the state level) and there have been cases where temple recommends have been denied to those with medical marijuana cards and given to those with them, based on a Spirit by Spirit basis. Drugs are very dangerous and can numb us to the Spirit, but when it comes to being judgmental, we are doing something that turns us away from our fellow man on a much wider basis. Quote
ryanh Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Doesn't everyone see the hypocrisy that trying to answer the question is being judgmental when there is no righteous basis to judge? Quote
FlaviusHambonius Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 As long as people who smoke pot don't let it lead to harder drugs-- then I don't think it is that big of a deal in the overall scheme of things. I have known all types of people from my youth into adulthood who have smoked pot and been responsible citizens and took great care of their families. Most are very private about the use of it as not to let their children find out. Some do it for stress relief, some for recreation, some for creative purposes. Usually in youth can it lead to harder drugs out of curiosity -- usually later in life if the person still smokes pot, it's usually their only addiction as far as drugs go -- at least from what I have seen. Smoking pot usually only affects that individual whereas I think being judgmental can hurt someone else for a long time -- besides hurting the individual doing the judging. Most people don't partake like Willie Nelson does -- that being everyday usage. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Why so much opinion against being judgemental? We are supposed to judge righteous judgement. It's a commandment. It's a good thing. If we refuse to judge righteously, we're breaking a commandment and sinning. Quote

Jamie123 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Being judgmental, definitely! There is nothing worse than judgmental people. They are bad, bad bad bad bad, and I really can't tolerate them! They're almost as bad as BMW drivers! Quote
