carlimac Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 I wear red frequently, especially during Christmastime and around the 4th of July. Quote
CatholicLady Posted January 15, 2015 Author Report Posted January 15, 2015 Thanks guys! I'm not sure where I heard that lol. Quote
Bini Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 Mormons have agency to do whatever they want whenever they want. But to live the gospel, there are things followed, such as commandments and the Word of Wisdom. Otherwise, things like watching TV, dancing, listening to rock music, Internet dating, are all fine CatholicLady 1 Quote

I'm pretty sure I've heard that before somewhere and I just always assumed it was for modesty purposes and probably only practiced amongst the more conservative Mormons... NeuroTypical 1 Quote

Vort Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 Don't be embarrassed. The idea that we don't wear red or some other color, while untrue, is small potatoes compared to some of what we've been accused of. CatholicLady and pam 2 Quote

You might be thinking of the Warren Jeffs group, which calls itself the Fundamentalist LDS and forbids wearing red. They also practice polygamy and wear pioneer style clothing. That group has 0% to do with the mainstream Mormon church (which would excommunicate you instantly for polygamy). CatholicLady and Backroads 2 Quote
CatholicLady Posted January 15, 2015 Author Report Posted January 15, 2015 Jane Doe, perhaps that's where it came from. Quote

I had totally forgotten that about FLDS. They don't wear red because that is the color Jesus is to wear when He returns. Quote
Guest Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 I had no idea. Incidentally, I recently read a book called "Escape" about a lady who escaped Warren Jeffs and his cronies (and then helped take them down and testified against them in court) with her 8 kids and $20 in her pocket. It was riveting. That's a pretty messed up non-likeness to Mormonism. Quote
Bini Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 The thing is, as wrong as he is, Warren Jeffs truly believes what he believes. Quote
CatholicLady Posted January 15, 2015 Author Report Posted January 15, 2015 A google search about Warren Jeffs just led me to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caCE2Q0zQv0 Looks pretty interesting, and I will definitely be watching tonight! Quote
Guest Posted January 15, 2015 Report Posted January 15, 2015 The thing is, as wrong as he is, Warren Jeffs truly believes what he believes. I'm not sure that's true. I think he found a way to gain all of the power he could, and take advantage of young girls and women under the guise of being a prophet. Anything I have read or seen about him doesn't show me a man of faith. Quote
