a-train Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Sounds like pretty good stuff, but i,m not really following? can you please give more detail as to the meaning of your statement.Peter was saying that what went on that day was in fulfillment of prophecies concerning the latter days. Therefore the latter days began all the way back then. We have been in the latter days since Peter and the original twelve were leading the Gospel efforts in Palestine, just as Peter said.-a-train Quote
tiancum Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 I wish it could be tomorrow.Me too.Everything that has to happen could happen within 6 months to a year. I wish it would, but being as I want it to happen so much, it will happen in 2134. (yup, the world, and the plan revolve around ME!) LOL Quote

WillowTheWhisp Posted March 28, 2008 Report Posted March 28, 2008 Anyone heard of this prophecy Joseph Smith made on April 6th 1843: "Were I going to prophesy, I would say the end would not come in 1844, five or six, or in forty years. There are those of the rising generation who shall not taste death till Christ comes.I was once praying earnestly upon this subject, and a voice said unto me, 'My son, if thou livest until thou art eighty-five years of age, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man.' I was left to draw my own conclusions concerning this, and I took the liberty to conclude that if I did live to that time, He would make His appearance. But I do not say whether he will make his appearance or I shall go where He is." History of the Church, Volume 5 page 336...................................Anyone else have any thoughts about this prophecy?I noticed that there's an 'if' in there. As Joseph Smith didn't live to be 85 then that would seem to me to mean that the rest of it would not come to pass, which it didn't, unless you conclude that Joseph has indeed 'gone where he is'. kona0197 Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 I can't believe you all are discussing this. How about pondering this: Religion is nothing but a made up lie to cover up humanities fear of death... Quote
WANDERER Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 I was kind of brought up on this/end times prophecies etc. I came across a quote once about all Christians being Nihlists...living for the end of the world and the last days. Would you agree with this? We are living in blessed times having the message of Christ and that is a joyful thing. Quote
lilered Posted March 29, 2008 Author Report Posted March 29, 2008 I can't believe you all are discussing this. How about pondering this: Religion is nothing but a made up lie to cover up humanities fear of death...Don't you think that it is a little narrow minded not to discuss, learn, and know what God and the Prophets indicate must/will happen leading up to the Millennium and the 2nd Coming. While we certaintly won't have privy to the date and time, we are given a certain amount of information/phrophesy so that we will know what will happen prior to that great event. How better to learn than to discuss it so that people can question and know? Quote

Would you agree with this? I agree that some denominations do seem to focus on the end of the World, Armageddon, 'the rapture', the Millennium etc but I don't think we do as Latter-day Saints.I think we focus more on how we live here and now. If we lived as if each day could be the last then we will be ready for his coming whenever that may be. Quote
Moksha Posted March 29, 2008 Report Posted March 29, 2008 If we lived as if each day could be the last then we will be ready for his coming whenever that may be. So would this allow us the excuse of coming in late to work on Monday? What about buying that red sports car we always wanted? Quote

Why wouldn't we discuss it? This is a religion board and we believe Christ will return. :) Which He will. And it's going to rule. Quote

pam Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 When my mom was a child a Stake President gave a talk where he said that in the last days food and substance would become so expensive that you could have a wheelbarrow full of money and not afford a loaf of bread. Are we not seeing that coming to fruition now? Look at the rising costs of gas. Which means that the price of everything else follows. I don't want this to start a political discussion. It's not about politics it's about signs of the times and those that we are now seeing. Quote

Easter Sunday dont so very often hit 6th April which is a special date... I need to do more with my familysearch!!I am sure ONE DAY WE WILL KNOW! Someone once said our calendars are thought to be "off."In other words, 2000 years from Christ's resurrection would not be April 6, 2033.I've also heard it speculated that it will fall on the Sabbath.I checked, and April 6th falls on a Sunday in the following years:2025203120362042Do any of these years match the offset (if our calendar is incorrect)?
