In a few weeks going to Independence and Council Bluffs and Winter Quarters

There is such a thing as "cult" in the common, negative, sense of the word. It's a group that tends to isolate members (especially new converts), sowing distrust against former family and loved ones. It fosters an us vs. them mentality. It demands "blind faith" in leadership (often a single person), and it very much controls the lives of members. Some would say that there is some of this in most religions. However "cults" are rather pronounced, or extreme. The word has been misused and over-applied. Nevertheless, as this string demonstrates, just because the little boy cries wolf too much does not mean there is no such thing.

This is mean to be fun, so I'll start. MARY POPPINS was likely Pentecostal. She occasionally operated in the supernatural, and her response to much of life's difficulties was to sing.

This is my desktop whenever I'm mad about a particular hated policy at work.

Currently I have a photograph taken about 17 years ago of my family while we were at Old Sacramento. We are all dressed in period costumes from the 1800's. It's a black and white photo. True story: When this thread first came up, I asked my husband if I could post my desktop the way it was suggested. He said "no," that it wouldn't work with my Apple laptop. I'm technically challenged, so I started asking questions about the wallpaper photo I was using, and how it came to be my wallpaper. I hadn't chosen it, my grandson had put it as my wallpaper. Husband then proceeds to show me how to set up my desktop wallpaper photo. I told him, "don't erase the photo that grandson put up, because I love it" (It's of my two younger children and oldest grandchild). He said "don't worry, it's here on your computer, and it won't be lost". He then proceeds to show me where to go on my computer and how I could even copy Urstadt's photo, and have it as my wallpaper. And voile, Urstadt's desktop photo was now my desktop photo. I tell him, "that's nice, now put back the picture of the kids. Well, long story short, we cannot find that photo anywhere on my computer. We searched through iPhoto, all my documents, and cannot find that photo anywhere. I have thousands and thousands of photographs that I have scanned and stored on my computer. So, I searched through all my pictures on my computer and chose the black and white one that is currently my wallpaper. I don't know where or how my young grandson found the original photo and used it as my wallpaper. I will have to hunt through my stacks of photographs and scan it again. It has literally disappeared from off my computer. I'm not sure I can trust my husband again.

The only reason that disease is spreading is because of poor sanitary habits. The ONLY way it spreads is by direct contact, and by the time the person is contagious they are usually too weak to go anywhere. It can be transmitted sexually for up to three months. Education will likely stop the spread of this disease. I really think sending troops is a political move to make certain politicians look good.

You need to be active in the online dating scene, also you need to gain some confidence. This is how I would go about gaining confidence: 1. Understand that you are not the only socially awkward person out there. There are women who feel exactly the same as you and may share some of the same issues. 2. Lower the bar, I see this in many single women and men in the church, they want someone who is good looking, well off financially, and super spiritual, to ride in on their white horse with their shiny suit of armor a sweep them away. This never happens, same for the guys they want the super attractive yet modest, humble and spiritual future wife. So when I say lower the bar, date the single mom, ask the awkward chubby girl out on a date she's not going to say no. You don't have to marry her but you will learn how to act in social situations with women. Think of it it like learning to ride a bike, did you hop on your first bicycle and cruise around the neighborhood like a pro. No you didn't, you had training wheels and as you progressed and practiced you raised those training wheels, until one day you took them off. 3. Make yourself more desirable, finish your degree, get a good job, buy a house, be prepared financially, take care of your temporal body, lose that 10-15lbs you got sitting around your waist, if you have to wear a white shirt to church spend a few bucks and get a nice one, wear a real tie, get a nice suit, heck get two or three your single you can afford it. Dry clean your shirts so they are nice and sharp every week. Look presentable and you will begin to feel presentable. 4. Your 23, life's a journey not a race. Practice makes perfect in everything that we do, if you never practice you'll never get any better at it.

Frequent temple attendance makes for complete worship.
