  1. I read somewhere that if your underwater on your mortgage you could qualify for up to $17,000. My understanding is that the federal government sued fannie may and freddie mac. So far I have only seen one article on it, obviously I am no expert. Now I will let it get back on topic.
  2. If charities could fill the gap, why are they not doing it now? Also, why do conservatives complain about welfare, yet they will more then likely accept welfare for their home loans? What costs more food or 17k off your home loan?
  3. Definitions in the USA: Conservative: fiscal: for corporations Liberals: fiscal: For the People
  4. Clever, he did not say all critics write, he said a critic recently wrote. That means he could be talking about any critic. It was clearly a critic that accused The Church of having mandatory tithing, he said, "never mandatory-that is,forced." He even lays out the definition of mandatory the critic used, which is by force. Therefore, you are using a semantic argument, because he laid out what the critic meant.
  5. I was asked in my first Temple Recommend interview if I would wear the Garments at all times. That to me is a covenant... Is that not standard operating procedure for the first Temple Recommend interview? From my understanding one of the reasons we don't learn about the Garment covenant in church is because it is sacred. Also I was instructed, I think in the Temple, to never have my Garments showing. That leads me to believe that non-members are not suppose to really know about them, don't throw your pearls to pigs kind off thing. Back when the Church was first restored, I am sure that applied more. Obviously through technology and other means, everybody knows about Garments, so as members we don't strictly enforce that policy.
  6. Loudmouth you know Americans are not suppose to talk about death.
  7. Do you know if the Hong Kong Temple is similar?
  8. That is awesome!
  9. Good question!
  10. I decided to skip GE after a few lessons and go straight to GD. I agree with Marshac that GE disconnects you from the Ward family. Being in GD, which has more people, allows me to be more social and feel a part of something.
  11. You can never read The Book of Mormon enough times. Sadly, I have only read it once.
  12. I think there should always be four designated Priesthood holders with pistols in the building. Although I obey the policy. Just last year I read that a Bishop got killed during Sunday services. With that said, at this time the churches policy is clearly more logical then mine.
  13. I think that was one of the signs I read about in the Book of Mormon.
  14. I wish people around me would understand that half truth are also lies. There is no way to spin it where it is not a lie. Deception in any form is a lie. Although I understand falling prey to the half truth.
  15. If me and my older sister are only people alive in our line, do I have to ask my sister for permission to do proxy baptisms for my ancestors?
  16. More Americans died in the Civil War then any other war. I don't think were afraid to kill each other over differences!
  17. Please don't act on those feelings, your daughter will resent you if you do.
  18. That is not a good enough justification for the USA to go to war and it never has. If going to war with Iran does not benefit our interests we will never go. However, it does, so it looks like we will eventually. If violence by regimes was good enough to go to war, the US would be in many different countries by now. The violence in Sudan is ten times worse then that in Iran, but going to war with Sudan does not benefit our interests. It is my personal belief that mass murder is justification for war. However, I can't think of a time when America has gone to war for that reason.
  19. Sounds like it is going to be an interesting marriage.
  20. I don't think for a second they are goading the US. Iran does not want conflict, they want power. That is the whole reason they want nukes, for power, not for destruction. If they can attain a nuclear bomb, we actually have to listen to them. Even the threat of a nuclear bomb makes Iran a country we have to pay attention too. That is what I have hated about US international policy, since nukes hit the scene. The us has what I call a paranoid international policy. Anybody who even thinks about creating a nuke has to be dealt with. Although I understand that the fear is they will use it, which would no doubt be catastrophic. However, I think that paranoia is unjustified about 75% of the time. Like I stated earlier countries just want power. I don't see Iran using a nuke, when they know it would mean total destruction to their country. With that said, I think you are referring to the fact that Iran will reveal nuclear achievements. In my mind, they are trying to deter conflict with that move. They are either going to show the world they are using nuclear energy for the right reason, which could possibly put the world against an attack on Iran. Think about how most countries did not support us going into Iraq, it could potentially be the same situation. The other option would be to show they are close or have created a nuclear bomb. With that option, if deemed legitimate by the US, they would have the power they desire. That is at least what I think they are thinking. In conclusion, I see no reason for the US to even attack Iran. Why attack someone just because were paranoid? If the US stopped having a paranoid international policy, we would have far less enemies. The only time I would consider an attack, which would be air strikes, if there is verifiable intelligence that they plan to use the nukes on the US or an ally, including Israel. Other then that it is a waste of human lives and dollars we don't have.
  21. Just started reading! What does everyone think about the book? Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis
  22. That is a very scary proposition.
  23. I think the mods are very lenient when it comes to banning. There has been many times when I have been given the hand of mercy, rather then justice.
  24. Is it possible that problems in our history are brought to light more because more people are against our religion? We are not accepted by atheists... We are not accepted by other Christian denominations... So who are we accepted by? Not a heck of a lot of people, especially in the past years. Thankfully that is changing!
  25. I was simply comparing our religion to others and showing we are not much different after all. I apologize if I offended you, off course murder is never acceptable. However, I do not agree I have to own up for their behavior. That is similar to saying I should own up to any members who have ever murdered or committed a crime. Also forgive me for trying to understand their perspective, off course I do not justify murder, but I think I would be a little trigger happy knowing the history they had been through. As you know, Latter-day Saints were attacked for many years prior to this incident.
