No. On the contrary: If you believe that God is omniscient, and that to be omniscient means that all things past, present, and future lie before you to open view (or, equivalently, that the omniscient knows exactly what will happen in the future), then it is axiomatic that as long as God-created things fail, God does indeed "create something He knew would fail".
This is actually a very simple logical progression.
Is there an omniscient God who created all things? Does any of his creature fall to Hell? Is it inevitable that God creates a being that falls to Hell? Using the logical AND: 3 = 1 AND 2
    Then it would be illogical.
    ???
Fatima, your words have already proven that God does create beings who fall to Hell. If God creates such beings, and if God established a church, then it makes perfect sense that that church might, too, fall to Hell.
Effectively, yes. God will force no man to heaven. He has given to man many gifts that man has corrupted.

Meaningful homework is fine. In my experience, very little public-school homework is meaningful. To be blunt, the classes are so easy that homework simply is not required. Which is fine; I don't expect junior high school to be like going to college. But why give homework when it's just busywork and makework?

A venerable old essay by that venerable old LDS apologist, Jeff Lindsay, flings wide the door on the ugly realities faced by Joseph Smith and his co-conspirators in their audacious fabrication of the Book of Mormon from their (surprisingly large) collection of source material.

Too bad the More Good Foundation doesn't get Lindsay to write essays for them.

I make a hobby of reading about the Titanic disaster; and several survivors left multiple and partially-contradictory accounts throughput their remaining lifespan.  I think it's a relatively normal thing for the human mind to do--to re-interpret past experiences in light of more recent events, and come up with a paradigm that everything fits into.  As an attorney, it's not uncommon for witnesses to contradict themselves on minor points; especially when the witness has been through a very traumatic experience.  (Trauma does all kinds of really funky stuff with the brain and the way it processes memory.)
For Joseph Smith and much of the early church, the message of the restoration was that the heavens were opened; that man could approach God on an individual basis and experience the "visions and blessings of old" together with the spiritual gifts described in the New Testament.  I think that troubles with neighbors in Kirtland and Missouri from 1832-1839, often led or green-lit by clerics of other faiths, made Joseph ponder much more deeply on--and accept more fully--the Lord's statement that Joseph had downplayed in earlier accounts: That "none doeth good, no, not one".

mrmarklin reacted to Midwest LDS in Have you ever wished the church would allow for moderate drinking?
Honestly, no I'm glad the church doesn't allow drinking. My mom and I are converts, so I've been around alcohol at family gatherings most of my life because most of my family are drinkers. I can't stand it. Even when they are not completely smashed, it makes the majority of them vulgar, crude, and stupid. I'm sure there are plenty of people in the world who drink moderately, but I don't care. For me alcohol is associated with nothing but bad memories and I don't want the church to relax the commandments against it.
On a lighter note I've always said " I'd rather be able to eat pork and not drink, then be able to drink and lose my bacon"☺

What makes humans so willing accept Scientific theories? Do we truly have 300,000 year old human remains on Earth? I was had a debate with a logical, rational, non-religious man (as he constantly referred to himself as) who said, "We have 95% of everything already figured out. Now we are just filling in pieces." I thought the irony was a little humorous in relation to how he described himself and this comment.
Do we, as humans, have enough information (factual knowledge) to know exactly how old these creatures are?
This is one statement I find to be true. True religion (truth) and true science (factual, not theoretical) will never contradict. It is the theories of religion and the theories of science that can easily contradict.

So the fact we decided not to reproduce makes us going against the church?
So the church would encourage us to reproduce even though there is a 90% chance our children will get a disease
that will kill them before they reach 5 years of age?
I don't think the church would encourage a family going through that heartbreak.

mrmarklin reacted to estradling75 in What are your thoughts about environmentalism?
The church teaches us that we have domination and stewardship over the earth... and he will hold us accountable for how we use such.  So by that definition of the term I am a environmentalist.   Out in the world I find environmentalism to be a code word for "More government Power... less individual rights" and as such I am not a fan

I may be an outlier among Evangelicals, but there is validity in praying to the Father for a witness of the Holy Spirit that something is true. Many of my brethren might say the Bible is more objective. Yes, but the Spirit and Bible are not competition. They work together. The incidents that strike me are those New Testament confrontations between Jesus and the Teachers of the Law. The crowds, who were not nearly so well educated in scripture as those teachers, knew right away that Jesus repeatedly bested them. They said that he has much wisdom, and teaches with authority--not like the Teachers of the Law. Simple Old Testament knowledge would not have given them insight. It was the Holy Spirit who revealed Christ's authenticity to them.
Of course, the witness of the Spirit may help individuals. However, in interfaith religious debates/comparisons the various groups might all make such claims to spiritual discernment.

"Universe" as it is used today is a concept in physics. "Multiverse" is a concept in comic books. Christ's atonement is "universal" in the sense of being "catholic". But when you start specifying other presumed "planets" and such, you are going well beyond the scope of our doctrine. Moses 1:35, 36, and 40 and Moses 2:1 suggest that the Lord tells us about our own world and no other.

Your first phone call should be with an immigration attorney.  If you are serious about this person this is not the time to be cheap.  Hire a real attorney and make sure that you know 100% what you are getting into. Time and cost.  You need to pump the brakes until you do this.

Diet Coke is OK. My chiropractor has been preaching against it since forever. But when I went to Israel one of my traveling companions was a medical doctor. He was drinking Diet Coke, just like me. I queried him about the health effects, and he stated that it was fine. All the so called studies that found it was bad were almost all done by people with an agenda.

A poll in this regard (as is often the case) is insufficient because it doesn't include all the potential answers/options and is, therefore, leading and ultimately inaccurate. The poll, itself, implies things. Not to mention that the first question speaks of clarity and then the answers are about correctness. Very different things.

I would set up a appointment with the Bishop and share with him the story.  Because in many ways from what you say they did a bishop level worthiness interview.. without the calling or authority to do so.
Now there most likely is more to the story then you know.. so go find out.

The IRS does not care how much you paid in interest when they calculate gain on the sale of a home.
Everyone has their own idea on what their "increase/interest" is which is why is is so vague.
You could argue that a house sold has no "increase" because there is no effective gain.  The house sold at market value and if I went to buy a similar home I would pay Market prices effectively having no gain at all.

Why in all these discussions of houses does everyone say they paid [some amount] which is clearly the market value, and later sold it for [some other amount] which is clearly the new market value, and never mention the interest paid on the loan, which, at the end of the day, is how much you really paid for the house?  (Just curious.)
