I Got Volunteered, Now I Need Desperate Help
Blackmarch replied to slamjet's topic in General Discussion
don't have experience as a dj. but; well... on one hand, I'd choose whatever the heck I liked that was halloweenish for me and play that, and if any one afterwards didn't like it and says anything of the sort I'd tell them it was the idea of whoever stuck me in that position. if they liked it they'll call me back. now if youre wanting some suggestions; ghostbusters theme, tubular bells (exorcist theme), attack of the killer tomatoes, manheim steamroller halloween albums (those are really good), The Tristram theme (Diablo), Monster mash, Purple people eater, Alan Parson's edgar alan poe albums (i think they use a couple of his titles as part of their title, i just can't remember which stories at the moment), Moody Blues War of the Worlds album, The Witch Queen of New Orleans, Momma's Soup surprise, The Highway man (Loreena mckennit i think) The Adams family theme The devil went down to georgia (non profane version) centuries (fallout boy) Lament of the Highborn (world of warcraft) YA cast in bronze would be pretty good too i'd suggest doing a youtube search for nonlyrical halloween music -
Why we violate ethics to 'help' others
Blackmarch replied to prisonchaplain's topic in General Discussion
In the broader view of things, one system of ethics may not match our personal ethics and so one has a conflict between the two. -
If you can't resolve your differances later, you're not going to be forced to be together... it goes both ways.

1. Of course not, when people poison the environment that sustains you, the proper response should be to kill them before they can hurt you further.

most of the events that humble people that a person can be in, are limited to this world only.

Very nice. I think my favorite classical are the Peer Gynt suite (it has "The Hall of the mountain king") by Greig

a majority of the time that's what it boils down to... but it means something to somebody, somewhere. ------------------------------------- some interesting tidbits on the urim and thummim at around the 44 minute mark and the 47 minute mark. -
Sweet! ..... too bad the politicians can't take a clue from it.

As long as it has the bishops OK, and they respect the building, and clean up after themselves, and are doing nothing illegal or sinful, I see nothing wrong with it. We're supposed to be a big happy family anyways.

Song of Solomon. How do you apply it in today's life?
Blackmarch replied to Uhura's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I don't. Never fancied calling a woman's chest to be like deer butts. No idea why it got included by those who compiled the bible.... Maybe they were having a husband/wife problems in society at the time or something. I suppose there might be some day when it may have more meaning for me, but that day is not today. -

Missionaries and Serving their health needs -- Slate Article
Blackmarch replied to cdowis's topic in General Discussion
I was taken care of on my mission. I recall signing some form that would allow us to be on church healthcare for up to a year or two after if it could be determined that whatever situation developed during the mission. however it's mostly falls on the mission president to oversee how it's carried out, and usually with the support of local wards. I suppose it's possible to get into a situation where both parties had no competency at all in regards to healthcare (in which case i imagine there would be some horror stories). but that would be the exception not the rule. -
when I was at the MTC one of the experiences of an english speaking (did not have or recieve any training in other languages) missionary at the call center picked up a call from a spanish speaker and after a few seconds into the call started to speak (and understand) spanish fluently enough to be able to finish the call and get the relevant information to send to the missionaries in the field. when it was over he didn't realise he had been speaking spanish.

Blind faith is when you have to take a step in a direction where you can't see the path of where you're going. Sooner or later everyone comes to that situation.

XD Noted.

the problem with money is that people want to put in a shotgun and shoot it in the general direction of the problem, thinking that will fix it. but i tend to lean toward the k-12 teachers tend to be on the underpaid side of things.

Covenants and Curses: The Glory of God is Intelligence
Blackmarch replied to Upcountry's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Interesting post, def worth a good think on (and probably more than one at that). There's always conflict just within science itself- if there's conflict there I fail to see how it would not conflict with things of god at some point. The only time there will be no conflict is when humanity finally learns all things there are to learn. Till then, when it matches up with what we are given, that's supremely awesome....... But one had better be prepared for some bumpy times when the two do not match up.- 5 replies

I agree with a lot of this. The problem I see is how do we prevent our faith in weapons in becoming a wall of binding rather than being a wall of defense.

ok you're getting some events backwards. they traveled to the red sea then they travelled the 3 days (go to first nephi chapter 2). the 180 miles i would guess comes from the distance to the red sea. It doesn't say how long or how far it took nephi to go back to jerusalem (that's chapter 3).
