This is a book my daughter read for her book club. I picked it up and couldn't put it down. It's a historical novel about a woman born in 1901 with more gumption in her little finger than most of us have in our whole bodies. Anyone else read it?

If I were starting over with limited space and funds I would go to the cannery and put up as much rice and beans as I could fit into 75% of the available space. A large portion of the world lives on those 2 things. The other 25% of the space I would fill with salt, powdered milk, oats, nuts, and soups mixes.

Sure, but just to be on the safe side I think we should tell Chicken Little.

Does anyone have any advice on how to stay faithful?

Start hanging out with people who have fun going out as families and doing family things. I wasn't a member of the Church until I was almost 27 years old and I had fun going out and partying BUT I have a lot more joy by getting together with friends on a Friday night for a pot luck dinner or meeting a bunch of friends and their little ones at the local park for a game of ultimate frisbee that includes the little ones. The difference is that the partying was a selfish pleasure that didn't satisfy while the fun I have with my family is so satisfying that I sometimes feel on the verge of tears from the welling up of happiness I have when I stop to watch them be together. -
When I got baptized the missionaries gave me a set of scriptures. When I was RS president I gave various gifts to adult women who got baptized. A framed copy of the RS Declaration, a set of scriptures, a glass box with the Houston Temple etched into the glass, a peice of wood with 'Families Can Be Forever' painted on it. Just different things that we have made at our yearly Super Saturday.

I'm prepared for the 2012 solar storm. I've got my food storage, solar oven and tin foil hat. Bring it on.

I don't live in Utah but I'm in Provo for the next month or two so you can count me in. I guess I can endure hot male waiters if I absolutely have to.

Now I'm thinking about the movie, "Where Angels Fear To Tread".

I would call your Dad and let him know that the child can be sealed to both he and his ex-wife. Ask him to call her and tell her he is doing it now but that she can also do it later. No harm, no foul. He isn't taking anything away from her so it should be a non issue. If he isn't comfortable calling her I think it would be okay for you to do it. Just tell your Dad you're going to.

The Deseret News story is really more of an obit than a story. I've never seen an obit that had negative items listed.

I just called the Provo Temple and spoke with the Recorder who told me that since the child is deceased, he can be sealed to both sets of parents. If the child were alive only one set of parents would be allowed to have him sealed to them.

Isn't it possible to be sealed to both sets of parents? I thought I heard that someone had been sealed to both the biological parents as well as their adoptive parents.

If everyone on this board would just realize and admit that I am always right the threads would be a lot shorter and none of them would need to be closed. Just saying.

It is the deepest desire of my heart to follow the teachings of Christ and to be more like Him each day of my life. I don't know what to call myself if not a Christian.

Don't forget about football. Preseason starts next week and it's a great way for the family to spend time together. If you aren't comfortable watching on Sunday you can tape them and watch the game as a family later. um....you might want to skip commercials all the time and the half time show during the Super Bowl.

We really need an "awwwww" button.

I'm a legend in my spare time.

What other people do that doesn't directly affect me is no big deal, at least to me it isn't. Most of the time I'm so busy just trying to keep myself where I need to be that I can't be bothered if someone gets a tattoo or a tummy tuck or bigger breasts. I see those things as outward signs of something that might be a problem for them but unless they confide in me about it I don't understand why worrying or judging them helps either one of us.

I don't understand why it was such a big deal in the OP's ward. We had a woman in my ward that had breast implants and all I remember thinking to myself was something along the lines of, 'Looks like she had breast enhancement surgery' but I don't remember much talk about it beyond wondering how much it hurt. It certainly didn't have a domino effect.

When is it appropriate to remove your garments?

They will if you ask them to when you order over the phone. It just takes 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.
