Never believed in a traditional hell (eternal flames burning you, demons with pitchforks, etc) In fact any God that would send his creations to such a place for losing in 'a game he set up all the rules in' is not worthy of my worship.

I wonder where the O.P. went to, its been 5 days with no further posting by them. Guess they were not really looking for an answer.

You know it really depends on the instructors. There is no way I'd want to give up my HP Group currently, but in the past I have really like SS, currently I don't care a whole lot about SS. Was on vacation a few weeks back and attending a former ward and could have fell asleep in HP Group there, but SS was interesting. So it all depends. Frankly, most Sundays I'd prefer Sacrament meeting to end after the passing of the Sacrament (about 30 minutes) and go directly into a 45 minute Sunday School and 45 minute Priesthood/RS meeting, for a ~2 hour block.

Hey, leave Texas out of this, a couple of bad apples don't spoil the entire state.

Alice in Wonderland is also in the BYU library, does that make it 100% historical and true? JoD is not doctrine, never has been, never will be. Brigham Young was a man of his times, have you read what other people in the 1800's thought about the planets?

I agree, terrorists getting their hands on a nuke (probably Russian or Chinese) would be my fear and New York City seems a logical target along with D.C. and perhaps major shipping ports (a Nuke in Houston would cripple us as a nation due to it being both a major shipping port and also the major oil refineries) I also worry if Iran or North Korea finally makes a nuke. Do I live my life in fear? no, but it is a possibility. I also do not know why our elected officials think we have to be the police of the world.

From the outside, all religions are equally absurd.

Unfortunately he trained his children well and if anything his one daughter is more hate filled than he was. Its sad that they equate their message as being from God.

The best (and most official) definition Approaching Mormon Doctrine

And your answer to me is the reason why you'll never get an answer from God. Hey I was stubborn too for the longest time, then my prayer finally went from an intellectual curiosity to a 'I'll do what you want me to do, just let me know' and I received much more than a feeling. I got a personal reply from God -- poo poo it if you want, but there is no doubt in my mind, and it was not just heartburn(ie a burning in the bosom).

Wife's Feelings on Masturbation (OCD)
mnn727 replied to mobius4niner's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
Sorry, this problem is way beyond what a few answers on a website. Your wife desperately needs a therapist. Hopefully an LDS one through LDS Social services (see your Bishop to find if there is one in your area). -
This is really beyond what we can advise, however one thing sticks out in your post Perhaps you are over compensating and appearing a bit clingy?? That's a total guess from only knowing what you posted in 3 paragraphs . I think a therapist is your best bet to work through this. I wish you well.

she is the answer to my prayer

I am always very skeptical when I hear that God told someone that a certain person is right for them. It seems more to me like wish craft. Just my 2 cents - Your mileage may vary. -
Funny thing. I was just handed the subject for a talk I will be giving in Sacrament in two weeks " Preparing for the Second Coming" <<Shakes head>> I guess God knows I need to study some.

I really have never understood the interest in predicting 'the end' Would you live your life differently if you knew the exact day? As I age I understand my mortality more, and know I need to live a Christ-like life at all times (and usually fail) what if I knew I had 30 more years, would I put off til the last minute what I should be doing today. If I knew tomorrow was my last, would I do things differently? Would the end of the world be any different (for me) than my personal death?

‘Hot Facebook Mom’ defends latest controversial photo

From the article "Kang, a freelance writer, fitness blogger and director of a nonprofit fitness organization" So she has plenty of time to workout. I'd like to see her look like that after working 8 hours a day at a desk job and then come home to cook dinner and take care of 3 kids. Plus as other have said genetics play a really big part in body shape. -
The Lord has promised to make our weak things strong: Like you I was terrible at speaking in front of people, I had a stutter that had developed in my early adult hood that caused real problems. Little by little though my callings I have developed into a very good speaker, my stutter rarely shows up anymore and my anxiety is pretty much non-existent. My first calling was Sunday School President back in the days when we held opening exercises right after Sacrament. I would need to briefly speak every Sunday to everyone in the Ward, then I would also sub teach at times, next calling was teaching EQ, by the time that calling was finished I had no more trouble speaking in Church anywhere and in fact it has advanced me in my working career also as I have given seminars in front of 100's of people at times since then. I was terribly unorganized and then was called as Ward Clerk I got to feeling I was better than some people and was called to teach a class in a local prison The Lord will make our weak things strong if we do His will Humble yourself before the Lord and ask/plead for His help, then go and do it. It'll amaze you.

Separate bedrooms - sleeping divorce
mnn727 replied to jezzabella's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
I make my wife use her CPAP machine nightly and will wake her up to put it back on if it comes off. I did sleep in the guest room for a while before she got her CPAP which she hated, so the deal was, we'd sleep together only as long as she wore the CPAP. The eating thing I can't help you although we both usually have a small snack at bedtime; couple of cookies or crackers and cheese. We certainly wouldn't do a full meal. TV - that's a whole separate battle and you should choose your battles wisely - start with the snoring; meaning work one thing at a time. Anyone that says sleep apnea snoring is not a big deal has either not slept with someone with it or is deaf -
Are tasers safe for law enforcement use

Its another tool in their arsenal. I would really want the cop to be trained in its use and misuse as well as possible consequences and what do do when the unexpected happens. Personally like the old saying goes "if you can't do the time don't do the crime" -- in this case don't do anything to get yourself tased or shot.
