Did the LDS Church bow to political pressure?
talisyn replied to Kukui's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Indeed, if the Church was going to bow to political pressure it would have been in the 60's or early 70's. My belief (taken for what it's worth lol) is that enough people had to want it bad enough to petition God in earnest prayer and fasting. I salute the Saints who believed and waited through the years, they knew it would happen and trusted God completely. They are much better people than I think I am. -
Happy Birthday!

I really couldn't find a forum that this question would fit in, so using my logic I thought more 2 (or more) time parents would see this one. My question is, with the second pregnancy how fast does it show? I heard pretty fast but most people have their 2nd only a few years after their first. If there is the space of 6+ years between siblings does it show so fast? Is it easier (being a pro and all that lol)? Thanks

After my divorce I spent some time with my daughter being a nanny to my sister's then 2 kids, and wow that was a lot of work. The three of them would run me completely ragged all day and be perfect little angels when my sis and her husband came home. I know the last thing my sister wanted to do after her hard day at work was clean the house but it had already been cleaned 5 times and I wasn't doing it again SAHMs have my total respect.

Video tape the abuse and email to a news organization? Tough situation, I'm sorry your neighbors are evolutionary losers. I'd try a public shaming with a receptive TV or newspaper Or Youtube!

I'm so glad there are people like her in the media. It's unfair to hold people as role-models (they are just human after all) but she has my thanks for living in such a way that I can use her as an example for my daughter.

Is surfing the internet at work a form of theft?
talisyn replied to Suzie's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Are you on your break? In Idaho you get a 10 minute break every 3 hrs and a 20 minute lunch break every umm..5 or 6 hours. I don't see surfing the internet during those times any more of a theft than drinking from the company-provided water fountain or walking on the company-provided grass. -
Modesty - A question in child rearing and clothing

I didn't allow my daughter to have pierced ears either, JessicaH. I've told her many times not until she's 13 (at least). In all honesty, it probably has more to do with me not wanting to take care of them for her Kids do grow up too fast! -
Opposition in all things. This may be the most wicked of all worlds, but it is also the world where our Savior experienced mortality. We are greatly blessed to be allowed the privilege of seeking after Him where He lived

I feel for you. Over here in the States I took my daughter in as a walk-in to a clinic for her bad cold and had to come back about 36 hrs later to finally see a dr. I can't imagine how hard it would have been to have to wait a whole 15 minutes

Oddly enough, I thought he was more 'President Bush' in the last 4 years then Vice-President Cheney's figurehead like in the first 4 If he had been that way the whole 8 years the economy might not have been hit so hard.

Meh. If they don't want to fight for reelection then they don't have to. Heaven knows never ever in the history of the USA have there been politicians who stop politicking because they're just tired of fighting all the time.

When my daughter was very small she would stare at a spot on the wall for the longest time. It wouldn't matter what room, it was almost always the same spot. Sometimes she'd give the biggest smile to the wall (and not me!!!). I have a feeling I'll find out why in the next life

Wow. For those who watched it at school, what did your teacher say? At my school a shuttle launch was kind've old hat so they didn't think it was important enough to show live.

I like the premise. If there was more communication between rank-and-file and management there'd be a lot less for unions to do

Wow that's cool. And fast! GL, be safe, and remember who you are

We need an 'Awwww' button. -
My daughter got a huge eye-opener the other night when we watched that 'To catch a Predator' show on MSNBC. All these perfectly ordinary guys who happened to be pedophiles. It was an excellent teaching moment, especially about proper use of the internet with all those internet games kids like to play. That being said, I see nothing wrong with sleepovers as long as you know the parents. Yes, pervs could look like anyone and be the nicest people on the block. But you can't be with your child all the time. Teach them to listen to the little voice that says 'this isn't right' and they should be ok. Should be. Operative phrase. Excuse me while I get some bubble wrap for my child....lol.

I'm having a flashback to my Wal-Mart days. More times than I have fingers and toes I'd see someone in the air freshener aisle pop open a can of scent, waft it through the air, and then put a different spray can of the very same scent into their cart. Insane!

Ummm people were getting pretty hefty before our current communist regime.

The color guard at parades always gets me. I know what's coming, and I try to think of something else, but seeing the VFW marching in step with the flags always gets me teary lol. This last summer the Cassia County fair parade had bagpipes with the flags and I almost bawled. Unfair! -
I remember that day. I was at school and didn't see it, but my mom was crying when she told me about it when I got home. Here's some new information Chapter 5: An eternity of descent - Space History- msnbc.com :sunny: Astronauts don't die. They just get better spaceships.

Considering the hit my 401k's taken the past few years, I'd have better luck buying 100 powerball tickets a paycheck

Well, let's look at it this way. You get about $180 taken out every payday for SS+Medicare. That's $360/month. When you turn 70 you can get SS for at least $800/month. I don't know what the Medicare insurance would come out to, let's say $200, so that's $1000. So you'd be getting $640 basically free. Isn't that a good rate of return?

According to my birthday SS statement I get to retire with full benefits at 70 years. I don't think my odds are that good
