Fascinating, Traveler. What's really sad is that if your fellow resort guests drove the 75 miles or so to Twin Falls they would have found some great Asian buffets open. We didn't lose power down here in the valley, it was just in the Hailey area. The picture I'm getting is panic and a little chaos, with peace and warm food just a short drive away. Give me a moment and I'll think of a really good way to pertain that to the Latter Days and the Gospel

I had to go to another LDS site. It was depressing I'm so glad this is back up! I missed people

But you quoted me lol I'm feeling paranoid, time for bed.

Cool, Omaha! Kids are so smart sometimes. My daughter received a junior scientist kit for Christmas Amazon.com: My First Lab Scientist Kit: Toys & Games and after oohhhing and ahhhing over every little piece she grabbed a swab and petri dish and announced she was going to clone herself. I'd rather make a light saber

I just love getting presents, it doesn't matter what it is. But, my future MIL gave me the softest, warmest, prettiest knitted scarf/hat set I have ever seen. It's like being wrapped in a warm cloud

Considering how at the time of Christ's birth people really didn't move around that much, was it that much of a hardship for every male to return to the town of his birth? And of course the whole world wasn't taxed. The Romans probably didn't even know about China, and certainly didn't know about the Nephites. Which brings up an interesting question: How much literary license did the Apostles take when writing their individual views of events?

It's probably no surprise... Your PERSONAL issues Score is 80%. Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 20%. According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is... LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles. I'm actually more anarchist, but that wasn't an option I'll tell everyone a big secret, since it's the time of the year for presents. Liberals are compassionate and love to help people, trees, spotted owls, etc. But the number one thing that makes people liberal IMHO is a complete and total lack of trust in moral behavior of people in charge of economies, large or small. Take that for what it's worth and Happy Holidays

I don't see a "oneuppance mentality" either, MM. I see people with opinions who have a good place to share them. One thing I love about this board is it shows that Saints can have a multitude of political leanings, yet we can come together and share the Gospel as one

Thanks for singling me out. After all, if I didn't speak there would be no partisan discussion on this board. Duly chastised.

Bini, I was thinking exactly that as I was reading the other posts. JJ, I feel for you. But you really have no idea how hard it is to become temple worthy after a sexual sin. Your wife worked very hard to get to where she was when you met her. It's not really possible for you to understand just how hard it was, and I hope you never know how hard it is. If I were in your shoes I would count myself lucky to not have to partake of that aspect of the Atonement, and maybe pick up a pizza and a really good movie tonight.

Isn't this because of the general good health of people in Utah, which leads to longer life spans? Not to mention the large families. When you have many people in a population that share similar genetic heritage then the same traits will show up more than they would in a more genetically diverse population like New York. Edit: Ok, remind me to read the link before I go off on a tangent lol.

But you listed only Democratic presidents by name, Hemidakota. I really don't know if the world was safer under Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, or Obama, because the world was a different place for each of them. This 'war on terror' has been brewing for a long time. If we are assigning blame for the current situation on those who are not advocating slaughtering innocents and holy wars then we have to blame the British (sorry guys). After all, they are the ones who created the latter-day state of Israel.

I was going to say 'Avoid the *** religion forum' but then I thought if I said the name someone might go there and it would probably engender bad thoughts. My karma is bad enough without adding 'enticing to the dark side' to it. My advice is, if you have a bad feeling in a religious site/forum/blog then you should make your way speedily here, the little oasis in the desert of the Internet.

I would like to remind the jury that under the last Republican administration we lost over 5,000 soldiers in the fight against terrorism Most recent casualties | Faces of the Fallen | washingtonpost.com Add up all the U.S. military and civilian deaths under Democratic reigns of the past 30 years and they won't come close to that number. So, are we safer than we were 5 years ago? 7 years ago? 30 years ago?

My daughter wrote a letter to Santa this year (like every year), but this one said 'This will probably be the last time I write to you.' It just about broke my heart. Why do they have to grow up?

You got taxed on something that hasn't passed yet? Wow, we really live in exciting times Now, about all the world getting taxed, I'm kind've of the opinion it was a tax/census thing. Maybe the economy was stagnant and the gov't wanted the give the service industry a boost ^^

Considering the current administration is less than 1 year old...if they are to blame then truly they are a powerful force in the world already However, I have a different view. Anyone who does statistics knows 'people' can be predictable, but a 'person' is capable of just about anything under the sun. These 2 acts are the work of lone people. We will never be able to stop the acts of every random person, but we can take an overall view of what the most plausible acts of terror are and develop measures to counter-act them. Does that mean things are getting better or worse? I believe neither. What I think is terrorists will change tactics (like they always do) and we will try to prevent them (like we always do). Administrations really have nothing to do with it.

What is Normal - Boys and Dressing Up
talisyn replied to theoriginalavatar's topic in General Discussion
If you look at children's clothing, a side-by-side comparison, girls clothes win hands down. Girl stuff is all sparkly and pretty. Boy stuff is pretty bland. If it helps, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren are straight fashion designers, as are Tom Ford and Isaac Mizrahi. Let's see..who else...Giles Deacon, Oscar De La Renta...I bet there are tons more. -
Merry merry merry Christmas! Hugs for everyone!

talisyn replied to Jbs2763's topic in General Discussion
Well...you are in a tough situation and I respect that. I was tempted by this same job a few years ago and ultimately decided that the 5 months or so away from my child was not worth the 60-70K I would have made. I love my daughter dearly, but I was soooooo undecided lol. If you don't have any kids I say go for it, it's the experience of a lifetime -
Hahahahahahahaha! That's what I thought when I saw the previews I'll probably see it when it comes out on dvd.

There really isn't any point, except that this is a doll with magical powers. I never had a magnetic Barbie when I was little It is probably the weirdest thing I've seen in a few months and I was curious if there were any other interesting toys out there like it.
