Save this date.  July 17th.  I will be in Utah to attend a wedding reception.  I'd love to be able to get together while I'm in town.  That would be the only night I have free before I head on to San Diego for a few days.
    Anyone interested?

When I was 18-24ish I thought everyone who agreed with me was noble, decent, and highly moral. And anyone who disagreed with me had to be an immoral scumbag. Eventually, I grew up and realized how wrong I was. Someone can be an absolute dirtbag and agree with me on most issues. And, on the flip side, someone can be highly decent and moral and yet have political/religious beliefs that are totally different than mine. Sadly, some people never outgrow how I thought when I was much younger.

Good hypocrisy test to see if you're letting your sense of right and wrong be colored by your political beliefs.  If this is you, you might want to rethink things:

Also, if you've never even heard of Reade or her allegation, that's evidence that you might want to re-think how you get your news about politics.

Liberals love to point out the dichotomy between Trumps private life and the support he's gotten from Christians, but Bill Clinton was a rapist and got a ton of his support from feminists. So....

I think most officers, most police departments, have better things to do than to try to set up a 'sting' like this.  That officer didn't want to be there anymore than the owners' wanted him.  But because a complaint was filed, he had to follow up.  I'm sure as soon as he got in his car, he was grumbling about the stupid exec orders also.

Did you watch the video?  The cop said several times, he was sent there by dispatch to check on a business that people had said was staying open after 8pm, in violation of the Gov's exec order.
Because he was there to investigate the claim, and he was asking questions and giving information, basically, doing his job.

Did you watch the video?  The cop mentioned that the 8pm order applied to all businesses.  So yes, the exec order ALSO shuts down those stores.  Odd to frame the scene a cop dispatched to somewhere in terms of a cop's rights, I'm not sure that word belongs there.

That makes sense.  What I saw, was the cop asking his questions, informing about the law, and doing some arguing, and then he left.  No citation, no arrest, no threats.  Maybe he argued a bit too much.  Yes, interacting with cops can be stressful and scary.

Cop said it, therefore he lied?  Weird flex bro, but okay...   With all the Karens out their with their cell phones calling the cops about everything and everyone, why can't be the simplest explanation?

I’m not sure it’s quite that clear cut.  Legislatures routinely cede to executives, the authority to either make standing regulations to interpret and apply existing statutes or else to make and enforce ad hoc executive orders in the midst of particular (alleged) crises.
I don’t know whether that’s the case in New Jersey, or what the scope of the governor’s designated emergency powers may be.  But I’m not sure that it’s correct in practice or in mainstream legal theory to suggest that police officers can’t enforce—or make arrests due to—an executive order.

“I’m still going to listen to satanic metal, and I still love Deicide and bands like that,” Carroll told the Chronicle. “As far as for my personal life and my experience of what I went through, I don’t think Satan’s quite as cool as I used to.”
It's a good thing, it means he's (hopefully) on the right track. At least he's one step further away from dark side.

    D&C 107:65-67:
    65 Wherefore, it must needs be that one be appointed of the High Priesthood to preside over the priesthood, and he shall be called President of the High Priesthood of the Church;
66 Or, in other words, the Presiding High Priest over the High Priesthood of the Church.
67 From the same comes the administering of ordinances and blessings upon the church, by the laying on of the hands.
But it really shouldn’t take a scripture to make that clear.  The whole reason the restoration was necessary, was that the priesthood authority enjoyed by the primitive church was gone.  If priesthood holders had the independent authority to go around doing ordinances all willy-nilly without the approval of a keyholder, then those of the primitive church simply would have passed their priesthood on to the next generation, God would have honored those ordinations, and we’d all be Catholics today.
But that’s not what happened.  Legitimate priesthood authority died out—not because every. single. ordained priesthood holder died simultaneously, but because the priesthood keyholders whose say-so was needed in order to do additional ordinations, disappeared.
To suggest that Russell Nelson can’t instruct priesthood holders *not* to administer the sacrament (or any other rite) in their own home, is to say that a) the entire restoration was unnecessary, and/or b) Nelson is a mere pretender to the scriptural title of “presiding high priest”.

A man of himself is not authorized to give the sacrament to his family or anyone else. That authorization comes from him who holds the keys, in this case the bishop. Same with baptism or ordaining to a Priesthood office; if the proper authorization is lacking, then the ordinance, even if performed, is of no force or validity.
