Mythbusters tested a lot of supposed uses of Coke that tell you you aren't supposed to drink it.  Most didn't work.  The ones that did didn't work all that well. For example Coke WILL dissolve a tooth left in it.  Orange juice will do it faster.

The Coke funnel cakes sound good though.

I may be overstepping my bounds and if I am I do apologize.  It's just that over time we start to feel like an extended family.

But please join me in prayers for her and her family tonight.  Her husband of 43 years passed away today.

I guess I'm missing the point on Commandment 10 here.

The 6th Commandment is correctly translated as "murder" not "kill."

Your comparison to anger is puzzling in this context.  If someone's life (child in this example) is in danger, it really does not matter if I am angry or not, as to whether or not there is justification in my actions.  I am protecting life, angry or not, which is the justification.  Disciplining is a whole different animal.  Nowhere does it say that self defense/defense is allowable only if we are not feeling anger/hate.

Now if I harm someone soley because of hate/anger we have a whole different scenario.

Satan mimics truth.  There are similarities and truths in many things.  Having ALL truth is the key.  Baal  worship is not conducive in any way with Christianity.  One need simply look at the hedonism and child sacrifice encompassed by Baal worship to see the difference.

But as was said before, you already know where the LDS faithful (and Christians in general) are coming from.

Baloney. You know exactly what our answers are and have been. They are always the same. and they will be the same from every believing LDS person. You know from whence our faith stems and exactly why we believe God exists and the LDS church is true. You raise these questions again and again to be confrontational, and it is useless to respond to them. You have clearly shown yourself decidedly unwilling to "learn".

I cannot speak for anatess, but in my opinion the answer is yes and no. No, it does not define murder vs. killing. Yes, it does matter at another level, but the sin is it's own and does not relate to the killing itself. In other words, if you kill someone justifiably but do so with hatred in your heart, you need to repent of the hatred, but not of the killing, as it was justified. If you kill someone unjustly, it doesn't matter if you loved them right through to the end. It's still unjustified and you stand accountable.

I don't think intent has anything to do with defining when a killing becomes murder*. I suppose it could if you were looking for an excuse to murder and then happened to have a justifiable moment to kill that person. I expect God would still hold that person accountable for murder...so in that regard I agree with anatess.

Edit: * I should clarify that I mean in the eyes of God, or morally speaking. The law defines murder and justifiably killing on it's own terms.

In your scenario it would likely be a self defense issue, so it would not be murder to take out the pos that has your child.

    Hobomidget,

You can hold whatever opinion you want, you can do whatever you what.  What you don't get to do is selectively choose your consequence, nor do you get to force others to agree with you.

If there is someone who chooses to use medical MJ for their condition that is their choice and right.  However if their bishop is of the understanding that medical MJ breaks the word of wisdom.  Then the bishop has every right not to sign off on a recommend for that person and potentially restrict other church worthiness related things.  He is the gatekeeper that is his job, the medical MJ user has no right to expect his desires and understanding to trump the bishops.  That person could appeal to the Stake President (Who could override the Bishop) but that is it, barring a more official church policy being given.

Of course it's not for everyone.  It's all a matter of personal choice. Those with large families somehow make it work in a lot of cases.

Really not for me to say if it's practical or not. Just wasn't my choice.

It can also be another way of saying we will have to agree to disagree. Often in that context used with the fanatical on some particular issue. A good example would be the members who try and tell the caffeine drinkers that they should not have temple recommends. Sometimes you just want to disengage rather than telling someone they are an idiot.
