Best one was a collection agency calling while I was having a chat with an old school friend who had just become the new DA. I handed the phone over, he introduced himself, and they hung up. Never heard from them again. 

I wish that were the case.  I once answered a fraud caller in Spanish; after they told me they didn't speak Spanish, I called them back 5 times in a row and asked for help in Spanish with the computer viruses they claimed I had.  They kept telling me they didn't speak Spanish and then yelling at me not to call back and hanging up.  I got a kick out of it.

And this generic pop-environmentalist message is pertinent to an LDS-oriented forum...why?

The concept of artificial insemination isn't the problem with your friend - it's that she doesn't understand that a child reared in a single mother home is harmful to the child's development.  At some point she'll need to tell her child why she made that choice, and viola - we have another man-hater.  If the friend has any concept of eternity and how families fit into the plan, she won't do it.

It seems kind of impossible to hang oneself while kneeling on the floor. Yeah he could have leaned forward, but he would not have broken bones in his neck. It seems pretty clear that he was murdered and the guards were either involved or incompetent. Sorry, guard, the other one wasn't even a guard, he was just an employee.

Especially inconsistent with a 6-foot tall dude hanging from a bunk bed.

Sort of strikes me as a really hamfisted "I ain't racist, some of my best friends is [insert racial epithet here]."

Generally, yes, hence the (limited) ability to interbreed with horses. 
But really; nobody even demanded registration of the deadliest single weapon in the world up to that point?
I mean, three guys with rifles barely managed to match the body count of one Japanese guy with a gas can, and nobody is calling for tighter restrictions on gas cans.

You have to admit, though, the tailoring on her bodysuit was impressive. With her build, anything not perfectly fitted would have looked awful. 
Interesting side note, Julia Nickson got the rather awful distinction of being one of the few to appear on TNG with a completely non tailored uniform. They hadn't taken into account that she'd be 8 months pregnant by the time they filmed Arsenal of Freedom, so they had to grab a bigger one and safety pin it up everywhere but the belly.

I get the impression Starfleet XO is sort of like Texas Lieutenant Governor; plenty of power and more freedom to act, because you still get to kick the really tough stuff up the ladder to someone else.

What bothers me about the article is that they focused the headline on his skin color instead of on his achievements. Seems like a shallow thing to focus on in a news article.

Having to spoonfeed readers a "person of color" PR piece... I had hoped we were above the need to do that. In case I didn't mention it before, it is lame.

Here is a better way, IMO, to illustrate the point without the need to identify skin color as a selling point:
This is outdated now, 10/18. I believe we are now over 50% mark in international GAs based on 2019 callings.

Why aren't parents teaching their kids financial fundamentals?
I'm not opposed to a financial class in and of itself, but this meme seems a yet another cry for parents to abandon responsibility.
They live in your house while you are likely paying taxes, having careers, hopefully managing money.

Because parents have long ago abdicated their divine responsibility for educating their own children, and now demand that strangers do it instead. They think it's a fundamental right. Lord, save us from ourselves.

Well, after a few requests that folks not flood an ongoing breaking news post (with updates happening in the comments) on FB with posts of "prayers" (and worse: some actually type out their entire prayers in the posts) I finally gave up and posted the above Scripture, and now I'm being accused of "twisting the words of Christ to suit my preferences."
Now I don't claim to have always been innocent of that, but this particular passage seems exceptionally clear to me: keep your prayers between you and God through Christ, and don't announce them to everyone. Am I missing some other interpretation?
