I agree with this. As far as I can tell, Alex Jones is a liar who traffics in people's naivete and ignorance. But that view is fueled by media reports. I have never listened to the man, so I can't say with any confidence what the man believes or preaches. I'm not going to take the word of the likes of CNN.
As mirkwood pointed out, no believing Latter-day Saint can deny the existence of conspiracies. For that matter, no reasonably intelligent human being with any amount of exposure to human society can deny it. But believing in the general existence of harmful, evil conspiracies and believing in some particular claim of conspiracy are entirely different matters.
By its nature, a conspiracy is secret. That's pretty much baked into the definition of the word. Successful conspiracies generally do not become known. If they do, it's because they're old and defunct  (e.g. the Great Light Bulb Conspiracy, aka the Phoebus Cartel) or they're so powerful that they don't care about being known (e.g. OPEC). You may have noticed the overlap between conspiracies and cartels. This is not coincidental.
Consider this hypothetical: A group of Illuminati-minded people with the money, ambition, connections, and raw power to attempt an invasion of governments worldwide form a conspiracy, what the Book of Mormon calls a "secret combination". If their conspiracy involves too many people, it risks becoming known; everyone who knows about it is a potential liability. So they play their cards close to the vest, with only a few people at the top of the pyramid really knowing what's up. They use puppet actors and corporations to set up their conditions so that it becomes exceedingly difficult to trace their activities back to them. As they grow in power, they gain control of the media and other means of information dissemination, such that they can more directly control what information gets out.
How would such a conspiracy ever be discovered? Only one way: A member of the conspiracy would have to betray the secret and make it public knowledge. But such a person would not be believed without evidence, and of course that evidence would be quickly covered up by the conspiracy members. Any information that made it out would be dealt with by the media and governmental elements controlled by the conspiracy. The only other way such a conspiracy could be uncovered is by a mole making his way in, collecting information, and then exposing the conspiracy. This becomes more and more unlikely the longer the conspiracy remains and continues consolidating its power. Such a mole would never make it to the courts. He would be dealt with, by which I mean he would be disposed of.
Sound familiar? Of course it does. It's mobocracy. It's the Cosa Nostra. It's evil people with wicked intent to gain power and money. Such has it always been.
Given the secretive nature of such conspiracies, is it any wonder that Jeffrey Epstein's supposed (and very convenient) suicide is greeted with rolled eyes and doubt? If it looks, acts, and smells like conspiracy, isn't that evidence? But of course, without truly damning evidence, the majority won't believe such a thing. It's far too easy to make up some conspiratorial explanation. In any case, such evidence is unlikely to be found. Why do you suppose that Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and other men (including men not named Bill, e.g. the UK's Prince Andrew) involved with Epstein have not been connected to him in more than a cursory manner? Are we to believe that all of these rich and powerful men with known attachments to illicit sex were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time and are innocent bystanders?
I believe few of the conspiracy allegations I hear, but I absolutely believe that such conspiracies exist, even deeper and more evil than the Illuminati conspiracy theorists would have us believe. There are one or two members of this forum who disbelieve that people are ever bad, but I am among those who disagree. People have a deep capacity for evil if they choose to exercise it. Many have no qualms whatsoever about selling their fellow men into slavery, destroying liberty, and so forth, as long as they get the power and/or money and/or sex they crave. In such a world, conspiracies are a sure thing.

Jedi_Nephite reacted to Anddenex in I keep finding advantages to plural marriage
I am not sure Ms. Anddenex would look at herself as a free maid or babysitter, and she might take a minute amount of offense for a person emphasizing what she does everyday as maid service and babysitting (as the examples given were in light of what first wife is already handling everyday).
However, if there are scriptures like the following that address polyandry as they do polygamy:
Then, talking about the potential benefits of polyandry in comparison to the benefits of polygamy would have some benefit also. But talking about the benefits of polyandry when no such command has ever been given (in light of the command to live polygamy given multiple times throughout human history) there really isn't any benefit to discuss about polyandry.
True. I also think it important to note, that when Joseph Smith was inquiring to the Lord about polygamy he wasn't asking God to live polygamy. He was asking God about polygamy and why God commanded it. He was seeking knowledge (so I assume we should be careful what we ask for and what knowledge we want to obtain). So discussing something that is a known command is not taboo. Desiring something that is a known "command" not to is something we should avoid (I don't see this thread as a desire) as this scripture should come to all our minds:
Now, in light of this, one aspect of polygamy I think all should look at, particularly modern daughters of Zion should ponder, is the gospel speaks of unity between Father and Mother, and the Lord has said if ye are not one ye are not mine. If God the Father and Mother are not "one" (unified) then they are hypocrites, and we know they are not hypocrites. In every command given on earth (over the sons and daughters of God the Father) there has been a perfect glorified Mother who is supporting "all" he does -- otherwise they would not be perfect nor they would be one. We are not talking about earthly weakness, we are talking about heavenly strength!

I missed this thread the first time around. Not sure I have anything new to offer. Discovering in my early 20s that "trusting my gut" was always, at least almost always, the most enjoyable and least painful option was a revelation to me. Learning to implement that insight into my life decisions has occupied a significant part of my life since that time.
I am grateful to a kind, merciful Father for allowing me these experiences, experiences that humble me and let me recognize my dependence on him.

I disagree.  There is nothing Trump could have done to close the divide, as the Democrats simply don’t want it.  The reason the there is such a divide is because division is what the left thrives on.  The other reason is because the right and left in America no longer are two opposing sides with the same goal.  The right wants to save the United States and protect our constitution.  The left wants to destroy the United States, shred the constitution, take down all of our traditions and values, and everything that made this nation great, and turn it into a third world country.

Personally, the fact that Trump made Jokes about the left, and called them out for their ridiculous antics and ideas, is something I really liked about him.  I thought it was about time we had someone in Office who was willing to call it like it was, and pull no punches.  No more of this “touchy/feely, reach across the aisle” garbage.  He was dealing with a party of petulant children, and he treated them as such.

There’s another possibility too. Maybe more people honestly think democrats are a better option than republicans this cycle. No grand conspiracy, no massive fraud. Simply put, the republicans just lost. It’s life, especially in politics. Your side will lose, and no, there was no widespread fraud. Strike three happened and the umpire isn’t giving you a fourth.

People talking about fraud remind me a bit of owners of a failed restaurant blaming everything but themselves for the failure of the restaurant. Well, maybe the food just wasn’t good?

Is it possible to send a text from a landline? No.
Is it possible to use a landline to call a service that will transcribe a message into a text? Yes, but I doubt that is what happened here.
Is it possible to send a text from a computer or computer-like device and make it look like it's sending from a landline? Yes, and in fact it is trivial to do.
The "from" line you see displayed on your phone is read from metadata in the message. It can be edited to look like anything.
What likely happened is a device owned by someone you know was compromised. A phisher sent a blast out to any number available and chose a number at random to use in the "from" field.
DO NOT RESPOND TO THAT THREAD.
What the phisher is looking for is evidence of an active phone number. A list of "proven active" phone numbers is more valuable than a random list of numbers.
This particular phishing attempt tried to use a familiar photo, which has the potential to ensnare those that dont want to ignore a friend. The pornographic image is intended to provoke outrage, hoping you will reply asking them not to send such content.
Ignore and delete the messages, or report them as spam. Contact the relative through a different medium to ask if they are ok and recommend they change passwords immediately.

The NFL saw the writing on the wall with their anti anthem stance.  The first two weeks saw diminishing ratings and they altered course so as to not become the NBA, which suffered massive rating declines.  So standing up for your principles can have an effect and even if it doesn't...stand up for your principles.  Sadly, this is a vanishing act in our culture.

    We agree on that point
I think we may differ in our understanding of joy and what sort of thing kills it.
I have seen a few views implying this, but by and large I think most conservative parents are more reasonable than that. I'm not going to burn my copy of Cinderella. But I'm not buying any more Disney product without reviewing it first. And anything with that sort of "woke" content loses my money. I also won't, generally, pay for services like Disney+ because that content permeates it.
As for going to the parks... I dunno. If I expect to see princesses in drag there's no way in stink I'm taking my family. And I wouldn't put that past Disney. So...???
I think you're seeing this parental response as a formal call for boycott... but that is not what it is. There will be some of that. But go to any ad, for example, for Disney+ on Facebook and read the comments. People aren't calling for boycotts. They are simply declaring they will not consume product from a company that's going after their kids.
Disney has alienated their core Market. That is just bad business any way you cut it.
Most of Disney's customer base (outside of Marvel or Star Wars) is families, not millennial SJWs. At least half (likely more based on polling) of that customer base is now being motivated to turn elsewhere for entertainment. That's not good for Disney. And I think you're seriously underestimating how bad this will be for them. But time, as you said, will tell.

None of these things have anywhere near the family customer base as Disney, or the outraged negative publicity going on. Not even close.
And finally... good! If only we could, as a society, be more puritanical! Sure, there's going TOO puritanical. But society has swung SO far the other way that we sorely need this.

I did a strange thing about six months or a year ago. I've always enjoyed Fleetwood Mac for their musicality and Stevie Nicks for her awesome voice. I read an interview in which Nicks said something to the effect that her fans should be glad about the abortion she had, because if not for that, she would not have made the music she made. My perception of her music changed. From then on, her music became, in effect, blood money, with her baby as the human sacrifice that enabled her music career.
I have not listened to Stevie Nicks since then. I have removed her songs from my collection and given away my Nicks and Fleetwood Mac CDs. I do not pretend that this will have the least little effect on Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, the music industry, or society in general. But my point was never to punish Stevie Nicks. My point was to protect myself from enjoying the fruits of evil actions. Insofar as I can reasonably avoid doing so, I will not profit from blood money.

Been a member here for quite a while, but never much of a "poster" as I always seemed to find what I was looking for elsewhere. But as was already pointed out... many of the other sites have gone the way of Sears and Roebuck. I'm not looking for anyone to agree with me, just offering my 2 cents with the following.
    1) I love forums and wished there were more (or at least some) that were still active. I say this because I'm pretty much computer illiterate (and yes, that's kind of by choice), so I don't do the facebutt, discord, or other things that I would place in the category of social media.
    2) The other thought I'll offer up, is I find all the interesting and thought prompting discussion I need on a wide variety of Spiritual topics from my own Ward members, full-time missionaries and long time LDS friends. As was also pointed out, there's not really much new under the Sun, in regards to even the most "in depth" Spiritual topics. So really... in a forum, I tend to be looking for the latest and greatest in the realm of temporal items and topics... meaning preparedness stuff. Maybe it's just me, but with the state of affairs in the world today, I find it interesting that there isn't much being brought up or discussed about that. Instead I'm seeing (and although it's heartfelt and sincere), discussions about whether treats at a church activity should be gluten free or not. Not to sound uncaring, but in the calamitous times in which we live, that's pretty low on my list of concerns. And as a side note... I'm completely allergic to dairy, so I simply bring my own treat, or skip the treats. I'm seriously not seeing the big deal about this.
Seriously hope no one is offended or takes this the wrong way, as that's not my intent... it just seems that the few topics here that get traction, are almost pointless. Sorry if I've rained on anyone's parade.

I agree 100% regarding a diagnosis, but you don't need to be a doctor to watch Biden and see something is wrong.   I saw the same thing with my grandparents and great-grandparents.   I couldn't render a diagnosis then, but we knew grandma was going to ask the same question 37 times and forget we answered it earlier.  We knew she was going to lose her train of thought regularly and not finish sentences.  We knew her mental acuity had declined.  While I couldn't say "she has dementia" and don't know if she did, but we DID know she wasn't fit for many things.
