  1. Rape is not voluntary. Therefore there is no condemnation to those who are raped. While the language isn't as soft and compassionate as most people would like, I'm apparently not reading this quite the same way as those who don't like it.
  2. DSM is very subjective diagnosing criteria, one of the weaker areas scientifically. Just because there is political quibble about stuff doesn't mean is doesn't exist (and vice versa) Generic guidelines on addiction from the very same DSM (https://www.danya.com/dlc/bup/pdf/Dependence_DSM.PDF) (You will find anywhere from 2 to 4 of these will qualify someone for an addiction) 1. Tolerance 2. Withdrawal 3. Increases over time 4. Persistent desire, or unsuccessful effort to stop or reduce 5. A great deal time is spend to obtain, use, or recover 6. Social, recreational, or occupational actives are reduced or given up 7. Continued use despite knowledge of harm to self I will also state that just because something may not be an addiction doesn't mean it's okay either.
  3. I actually think this New episode does quite well for standing alone. It would be optimal to watch the other movies, but I think for anyone who just starts watching it is sufficient.
  4. I don't think you would try to force someone. I just think what was said needed to be said lest some passerby take it as justification for an incorrect principle.
  5. But don't go about trying to force your agency on others....if you try and force it....it isn't agency anymore. (Yes, force includes ostracizing and backbiting in this case)
  6. If you ever have questions you can always speak with a missionary from our church or ask questions here. https://www.mormon.org/chat You can also look up talks (similar to sermons) given by our apostles and other respected members of our church on lds.org , Just go ahead and use the search function. (like this https://www.lds.org/search?lang=eng&query=restoration+of+the+gospel) (I assume this is what you have found already) BYU our church university sometimes also has good devotionals https://speeches.byu.edu/study-and-faith/ I especially like this one on grace https://www.youtube.com/embed/yLXr9it_pbY Depending on what you would like to look for, we may be able to recommend some other sources depending on what you wish to look up. Such as the Encyclopedia of Mormonism (Generally a good overview, though not official church material) http://eom.byu.edu/ Or scholarly work done by the Neal A. Maxwell Institue (Might be a bit more difficult to read though.) http://maxwellinstitute.byu.edu/

  9. They under estimate the power of the Dark side of the Force.
  10. Can confirm, with cousins and siblings as well. (Not to mention children) I find it sad how victim blaming in one circumstance is seen as a horrible evil, while in schools it's seen as justifiable.
  11. Exodus 22:21 Deuteronomy 10 Leviticus 19 Any decision politically made, should be tempered with what I believe scripture tells us. (Which if we are going by old testament standards, doesn't exclude genocide...but for some reason I don't think anyone really likes that idea either)
  12. Until now i've always just seen a kitten. I finally managed to see what I think is what you see for the pig... All I have to say, is that would make for one ugly pig.
  13. What I mean is that, no matter how much I may want revelation, it comes from the lord when the lord see's wisdom in sending guidance. When I personally humble myself, I become more receptive to revelation (and I suspect the Lord is more receptive in giving revelation) Sometimes the lord also see's fit to let us struggle, and through the furnace of adversity refine us.
  14. I generally click on the 'Smiley' button that looks somewhat like ---> :) Assuming you are using a web browser on a desktop.
  15. (Speaking personally) Humility. That is what it takes for the lowly mortal that is me. It comes not by my will. Not when I wish it, nor when I want.
