There are quite a few Sundays when I don't even bother turning my phone on. Pretty much everyone I want to talk to on Sundays is either at home or at the chapel and since I'm going to be in both of those places, I can talk to them face to face. And I still bring my paper scriptures to church.

Mirkwood and NT have a grave confession to make.

And don't forget the raspberry topping sprinkled with icing sugar. -
The scriptures say many things, and here are some scriptures that came to mind when I read this post. Penny might not be your neighbour but she seems to have some similarities with the neighbours described here: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. (New Testament | Matthew 10:34 - 36) Micah 7:2 The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. 4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. 5 And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. 6 Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD. 7 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? 8 Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait. (Old Testament | Jeremiah 9:4 - 8) On the other hand....... 18 ¶ Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. (Old Testament | Leviticus 19:18)

Among life's many mysteries I've often wondered why A sense that's known as common Is in such short supply

Is this further evidence that Shakespeare plagiarised?

2 v or not 2 v - that is the question.

The solution is simple - buy shares in the companies. Then you start to profit from their practices and they are no longer a problem.

It doesn't matter how much money a Canadian might have, or how little money an Australian might have, the Australian will always be at least double the worth of the Canadian - or anyone else.

Move to Australia Escape the cold and the snow and re-learn what the Sun looks like. And where the church is truer than it is in Ontario.

Here is what one scripture says about human trafficking Exodus 21:7 ¶ And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do. And here is what another scripture says about lying 2 Nephi 9:34 Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell. This is not a comment on the morality or immortality of lying or human trafficking. Its an observation on the limitations of using single verses of scripture to answer complex questions which is something I see from time to time. Elsewhere, I’ve heard it suggested that there is not a lot of value in comparing the evilness of one type of sin against another because they are all bad and the Lord cannot look upon sin with the least degree of allowance so whether its lying or human trafficking doesn’t really matter in an eternal sense. But I’ve also heard that murder, adultery and denying the Holy Ghost are indeed more evil than other kinds of sins so perhaps some kinds of sins are worse than others.

What do you mean? Are you trying to fool us into thinking that you've had more than one thought this year? Give it up mate, no one will ever believe that!

Well the colour of the flesh makes me think they could be from an allosaurus but the curvature of the bones makes me suspect a carnotaurus.

Here is an equation that my father used to use to calculate his fast offering (He was an accountant) Weekly shopping budget divided by 7 days per week, divided by three meals per day times two meals, since we fast for two meals. The “generousity” comes from the fact that the calculation is based on the whole of the shopping budget, and not just the food component. It's a simple process to modify the equation to take into account older, earning children living at home who should be paying their own fast offering.

Urim and Thummim vs. the Anti-Mormon's

So what's your count on the number of stones and/or other devices that Joseph used to translate the plates? -
Urim and Thummim vs. the Anti-Mormon's

How would you know how many words are in a post? -
I checked my hard copy of the scriptures and there was nothing to indicate that this was a translation error, although that doesn't prove anything either way as I suspect that there are many unfootnoted/uncorrected translations errors.

I've come across this idea before and I have no concerns with it - it seems like a plausibly possible way of coming up with three days, but I can't see how to come up with three nights.
-
Matthe 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. I must be missing something - I always thought that Jesus spent Friday night and maybe Saturday in the tomb, which adds up to two nights, not the three nights suggested by Matthew 12:40. What am I missing here?

April 2019 Conference Predictions
askandanswer replied to Emmanuel Goldstein's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I'm guessing that this is the kind of announcement that would be made via lds.org and the newsroom rather than at a General Conference. The ownership and management of BYU might not be something that has a major impact on the lives of most member and it wouldn't' require anybody to do anything differently than what they are currently doing. -
April 2019 Conference Predictions
askandanswer replied to Emmanuel Goldstein's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I'm guessing that this first prayer will be the opening prayer and there's a high probability that the prayer at the end of the last session will be the closing prayer. That's how it usually works. -
I was listening to this radio program earlier this week, (see below) which I only half understood, and the author of the book being discussed, Paul Davies, was defending the point of view that matter + information = life. I’m intrigued by this notion, as it might closely resemble the idea derived from LDS theology that there is some sort of close relationship between matter, intelligence and life. Is anybody else familiar with this idea that matter + information = life? I’m not clear about how Paul is using the term "information". If so, could you please help me to understand it? And if you are familiar with this idea, do you think it would still be essentially the same idea if we substituted the word information for intelligence, so that the equation would then read matter + intelligence = life? How does life create order from chaos? A few trillion molecules come together to form an organism of extreme complexity. And what is life? Biologists describe life in terms of information - DNA. Physicists describe life in terms of energy and entropy and molecular binding strengths. So which is it? This is the frontier of science today. Paul Davies in his book The Demon in the Machine argues a new physics is needed to describe life which combines the two, unifying all theories of the living and the non-living, so that humanity can at last understand its place in the universe. https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/scienceshow/the-secret-of-life---explanation-through-new-physics/10838274 Incidentally, the author of this book has quite a reputation in the world of physics, so perhaps his ideas should not be dismissed too lightly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Davies
