  1. Reasonable and useful - every time.
  2. I think you're speculating here
  3. Your fiancee is also Christian. Best wishes for your upcoming wedding.
  4. On a side note, I knew someone who, for several years, while blessing food, would. instead of saying something like "and we ask thee to bless this food" would say " I bless this food." WHen I asked him why, he said that he had the Priesthood, so he could bless the food, and that there was no need to ask Heavenly Father to bless the food when he could do it himself. Apparently this was part of the reason why God gave His children the Priesthood - so that they could act do the Father's work.
  5. Idk (In terms of percentage of the sentence that is an acronym, this beats yours )
  6. I recall an account from an address given at General Conference, probably between 3 - 5 years ago, I can't remember who by, of a time when whoever was telling the story, approached the desk at the Salt Lake temple and handed over their recommend. Because it looked different (and no information was provided as to how it looked different) the person at the desk said they didn't accept that kind of card.
  7. I vaguely remember a story, probably from when I was in Primary, of the wife of Hyrum Smith giving what some have termed a blessing to an ox that was feeling unwell as they travelled to the Salt Lake valley. This was a case of a woman giving a blessing/praying about/praying over, a very important tool that that was not working well and that they absolutely depended on. It's not the same as a Priesthood holder giving a blessing for a pet, but one similarity between both stories is that the both the kitten and the ox recovered. At first glance, it might not be unreasonable to attribute the recovery to the blessing/prayer that was said.
  8. If you look beyond Mark you will find Luke. If you look even further you will find John.
  9. And maybe also for the Nephites, given that the people Alma was talking to were descendants of Nephi.
  10. I wouldn't feel comfortable with trying to put limits on what a servant of God can say.
  11. Would you have a viewing for the ox on a Sunday?
  12. If you search the scriptures using the phrase "Lamb without blemish" you might gain a better understanding of why the instructions given in Leviticus 21:16-21 were given. In the search I did just now, the phrase turned up 9 times, of which the following is representative: 14 And he shall offer his offering unto the LORD, one he lamb of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings, (Old Testament | Numbers 6:14) And of course, Christ, the true Lamb of God, was without blemish - 36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broke (New Testament | John 19:36)
  13. He only wanted to marry your hand? (Sorry, I couldn't resist)
  14. Behold, the fulfillment of prophecy! And Satan is bound and time is no longer. (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 84:100)
  15. if the Lord were to appear to me, which He hasn't done lately, one of the questions that would be uppermost in my mind is what do I need to do to gain eternal life, but I would probably not ask it, because the answer to that question has been made clear to us many times by many of His servants
  16. Tomorrow night, for the first time since 1997, we will have the Prophet in Australia. Not only one man, but many thousands will come driving and walking, and maybe even running, from near and far, seeking to know what they can do to live a better life and be a better person. Who does this? Pretty much everyone who attends General Conference. No doubt, tomorrow night the Prophet and others will provide us counsel and teachings based on some or all of the ten commandments. Most likely many present at the meeting will be having issues with some or all of the commandments. No doubt, many present will believe that they have either kept, or tried hard to keep the commandments from their youth. In fact, even I keep the commandments - usually. Quite possibly, tomorrow night the Prophet will request us to do some things and not do other things. And no doubt many will leave the conference tomorrow grieved and concerned about what the Prophet has asked while others will be rejoicing at what they have heard. And I don't think Australia is the only place where this will happen. So after 2,000 years, when Christ tried this teaching technique, if it was not successful, you think a more effective technique would be used. It's still used at every General Conference so maybe its not unsuccessful. Christ and His servants and propehts are unlikely to repeatedly engage in practices that have no impact even if what/who they are working with is slow to respond.
  17. HOORRAYYY!!! No more @MormonGator!
  18. Most of God and Christ's appearances to people, both before and after His time on Earth are very private occasions involving no more than one or two people at a time. His activities in Jerusalem and on the American continent appear to be exceptions to Their normal practices
  19. But if it ever does come to the cruch, then i think logic should go out the window well before faith.
  20. Unix Knight Dressed in white Went to the temple and got some light With his wife On his right And the children in their life What a sight! Feels so right Sealed by awesome Priesthood might Congratulations brother, to you, your wife and your children.
  21. This is way too long to read! Do you have a shorter version?
  22. If the universe is simultaneously both infinite and expanding does that mean it is more infinite today than it was yesterday? The only other things that I can think of that are both infinite and expanding are God's knowledge, glory and power. When two things share the same attribute, and that attribute is exceedingly rare or unusual, then that raises questions as to whether those two things are actually just one thing, or whether there is some kind of relationship between those two things.
  23. Sounds to me as if you've followed the counsel contained in Isaiah 11 ¶ Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. (Old Testament | Isaiah 52:11)
  24. Who is better placed, and more likely, to help - the church, the government, or another non-government organisation? And what do the residents want? It seems to me that these are the most important questions that need to be answered in order to decide what should next be done.
