  1. Frightens me? That world's only true operating system look you always find in the eyes of Mac users. You just know they will go postal on you some day.
  2. In Fallout 3, I always play as the wasteland's one true messiah. I hand out plenty of purified water to those who are thirsty and in need of salvation. I tithe on a regular basis. I only shoot the bad guys and sometimes just sneak around them instead. I just can't bring myself to play as the villain, although I have on occasion pilfered some teddy bears to bring to the baby. Even when I refrain from killing, I still get the brushoff from Amata. So true to real life.
  3. First, take a deep breath... Then let your anxieties melt way. Life goes on without needing an exact understanding or significant decision that may lead you down a blind alley, only to find yourself at the final wall. Do not ask, "what is it?". Simply go and make a visit. Have faith the universe is unfolding as it should.
  4. Might as well shout Happy Birthday too...
  5. After Utah was raptured into the PAC 12, this not wanting to be left behind must have been overwhelming for the Cougars. In some ways it is a perfect fit, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Francisco and Santa Clara are all private religiously oriented schools. A bit more travel is required for BYU, but they will recoup the expenses by being able to drop some of the minor sports that the WCC does not play. Instead of mostly being at the bottom or middle of the bunch, BYU can shine as the biggest fish in a smaller pond. My guess is Gonzaga will be more than a match in basketball. Even Utah State comes out ahead in this, since it is rumored they will be unstoppable against Cal-State Barstow in the WAC.
  6. Did he say Captain Crunch or Captain Moroni?
  7. Senator Hatch says he had empathy for Muslims. I would think it best for Mormon people to tone down any unpleasant rhetoric, lest we ourselves are ever tempted to act outside the bounds of loving our Muslim neighbors as ourselves.
  8. Walking around depressed is the pits, since life seems like endlessly going through the motions and not fully enjoying any of it. Sounds like it may be time for you to become a fan of Wellbutrin XL. Do you have a doctor available? If so, you might want to talk with him about this.
  9. BYU will have to announce their intentions today or by tomorrow's deadline. Will the programming for BYU's new sports network be shown at the Stake Conference Centers? That way Cal State-Barstow can see their team play away games in they too join the WAC.
  10. Astral, sometimes events occur - whether they involve a serious and persistent mental illness or not - that ultimately have no sense to them and exist solely as a tragedy. On the news tonight, the brother of the man who committed murder mentioned that they once attended Church in that ward in the 1980's, but added that his brother did not know the Bishop. He said the action was borne of the brothers mental illness, which seems to make it a meaningless tragedy. I hope you are able to find peace and serenity in your own situation. We should cope with what we can and ask the Lord for strength in the rest.
  11. Talisyn, Congratulations on a new Baby Daughter!
  12. Excellent point and context not withstanding, the meaning was meant to be Satan's interest in us and not his interest in God. However, I reject either interpretation and remain of the opinion that we subscribe way too much to Satan's interventions. Temptations and behaviors remain without a supernatural causation and the true inner demon we need to control is our own desire. "Get thee behind me, Self."
  13. Not to worry. Just take the paper bag and softly repeat, "snipe...snipe", as you wander around these forums. You will do just fine. :)
  14. Could those who are following this story post links on further updates? What a terrible tragedy. I will be praying for his family.
  15. In listening to some folks tell of all the snares, temptations, actions and behaviors caused by Satan, it would appear that he is much more active and interested in us than God. I reject this idea, and am lead to wonder whether people see manifestations of Satan way too readily. This can't be good can it? What are your thoughts on this subject.
  16. I would worry that over aggressively pursuing this may lead to the teens falling away from the Church.
  17. Are you sure? I thought N'gowa meant, "My bad".
  18. This must make it tough at the airport screenings.
  19. The morality of video games has been a topic of discussion since the advent of Doom. My current question is one of preparation for the release of Bethesda Software's Fallout 3: Las Vegas. What should I do when they present the devil's snare of gambling in this New Vegas? Should I eschew it and stick to the more acceptable way of killing and looting to make my way in post apocolyptia, or should I also shoot the gamblers? Any suggestions?
  20. Chaplain, my observation would have to be from purely my own experience. In adulthood I threw off my former religious indoctrination and found myself without any religious beliefs. It was through the epiphany of reading Dr. Viktor Frankl's book, Man's Search for Meaning that I decided to take another look at religious meaning and through years of inquiry and learning, I was able to arrive at my now very firm religious beliefs. So I would submit that self inquiry is another genuine means of arriving at a religious identity.
  21. You could have waxed more poetic and said that Glenn Beck is a window unto the conservative soul, but you are very articulate anyway. So this is a combined Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin rally? I thought is was just an altered history and patriotic-histrionics presentation.
  22. If the call to act is within you purview, then so is the call to not act. As the saying goes "discretion is the better part of valor". Let the discretion be with the Bishop and use the valor to withdraw from the field. Save yourself for another day.
  23. Well, if Little Nelle must be tied to the railroad tracks to increase the size of someone's wallet, then all voters need do is vote for it. Ain't gonna happen because of the inherent value that comes from equality of voting. However if we were told the fat cats who would make a profit off of Little Nelle's murder are the only one who would decide because of their vast wealth, then this sound a bit like Conservative Nirvana Island -- where even the greatest travesties are allowed if there is a buck to be made or hoarded.
  24. Once you are announced, make a slight curtsy to the hostess or receiving line. Guys are cautioned not to eat peas with a knife. Other than that, just go and have a fun time.
